Keto for muscle gain and fat loss!

Hi! I've been using this app to track my keto diet for the past month!
Ketosis is a diet where you restrict your carbs and eat more fat and keep protein in the middle. What happens is your body utilises fat for energy (ketones) and in turn allows your body to use up your body's fat stores as it's primary source for energy is now fat.
I started this diet in March as I had finished "bulking up" over the winter and thought it would be a good time to start shredding down for the summer! I saw a lot of good reviews of this diet and even Zyzz recommended it.
My first few days were the absolute hardest and I guarantee if anyone else is new to the this and tries it will experience the same but you have to wait it out! As my body was adapting to using another energy source, I started to feel really drained and horrible. I felt like I had the flu and at one point I thought I was gonna die! Don't worry though this is just your body adapting!!! I stuck to the diet and kept drinking loads of water and after 3 days I woke up feeling full of energy and waaaay more alert! I've got to say this diet is amazing. I remember things better too and don't really crave food unless you wave chocolate in front of me!!!
After the first week I found I had gained 7lbs!!!
I was operating on a 70/25/10 ratio (Fat/Protein/Carbs) and must have been consuming around 250g of fat!!!
I soon altered this after Easter weekend (I couldn't go without any Easter eggs!) and got back on track with a 60/30/10 ratio and a lowered calorie count.
This time it didn't take me long to get back in ketosis and I didn't experience any flu symptoms when adjusting.
I've kept it the same up until now although I probably consume around 40% protein to minimise muscle loss.
A few differences though in the past couple weeks since adjusting.
I crave sweets and chocolate a lot more even though I stay away from them.
And although I've lost that 7lbs as quickly as I gained it, my fat loss seems to be quite slow at the moment.
I'm guessing my higher protein intake has something to do with this as protein can be broken down into glucose if the body needs it! I bought ketostix and they are only measuring traces of that! The strip only changes colour very slightly!
Anyway I weight train everyday that I can with 2 days off a week maximum! I try to do at least 15 minute cardio every other day and my job has a lot of exercise and heavy lifting involved too.
If there's any more experienced in the keto diet please let me know if I'm doing it wrong or if I'm just being impatient!
Atm I'm at 60/30/10 probably edging more towards 50/40/10 if I'm being honest.

You Miron Brah?
Seriously...be careful with this diet. Done Keto before...and hated it...great for fat loss....but...I respond better to a more traditional
Body builder diet. I limit my carbs peri workout when I'm cutting.

Be careful brah? What's wrong with the diet brah? You mirin?
Nah but what happened for you to hate it?
After the initial "keto flu" I've felt absolutely great! I have a constant flow of energy instead of blood sugars rising and falling and I don't crave bad foods, instead I crave steak with salad and plenty of oil!! And high fat part oddly had me go from 20% bodyfat to 13.7% in the space of 6 weeks!
I honestly can't fault it, the only thing I can say is every 1 to 2 weeks I have to "carb" up to replenish glycogen but even then I'd say that's a plus!
What's a bodybuilder diet? Cus that can mean anything lol. Low fat? Low carb?
Please let me know what you experienced with keto though cus in interested to see why you hate it brah!0 -
Rich, you might checkout the low carb & keto forums.

Also, Ketostix are notorious for not working after a very short period because you quit excreting ketones through your urine.0
