At what point do you stop getting chub rub? (chaffing between thighs etc)

Normal ppl can't get that. You know... anatomy0

It's all down to bone structure....0

My thighs stopped rubbing when I hit a small size 14 (US 10)
I'm now a size 10 (US 6) and due to my bone structure and genetics, and possibly a millionty-two weighted squats and lunges, I appear to have a thigh gap but it had nothing to do with the chaffing0 -
chub rub…hahahahaha! I still wear shorts under my skirts to prevent this.0

My thighs stoppped rubbing when I hit about 165...I am 5 ft 7 (size 10)
no thigh gap for me...0 -
I'm about 129lbs and have a thigh gap btw knees and upper part of my thighs. But the uppermost part still touches and will probably always touch. Anatomy seems to be right for a thigh gap *shudders* but the upper part is just one of those spots where I'm not losing. Oh well...0

I think I was good (no chaffing) by the 150s, which for me (I'm 5'3) was still above a healthy BMI. And I'll never have a thigh gap, even at the bottom of the healthy BMI range, so it's not related to that at all.
Thigh gap wasn't a thing when I was growing up, at least not that I ever heard of, so despite my various youthful insecurities I'm delighted that that's not something I ever worried about.0 -
Pah, I used to get it as a fit teen when I was in the 120s... *sigh* 'Tis what it is.0

I don't desire a thigh gap, but if I get one ''yay''- I guess? I've never had one before, so I'm not expecting it. Apparently it's more likely if you have wide set hips.0 -

You would be correct. Most people with thigh gaps have fairly large hips; 35+ inches.0 -
Never for me. I would have to be skeletal for my thighs to stop rubbing. I always wear bike shorts under skirts and dresses. I don't care to be skeletal.

I used to care that my thighs were touching, but then I realized that there was no shame in having bigger thighs (18 years of soccer...9 playing competitively...permanent thunder thigh status lol)...I just prefer to think of myself as a land mermaid0 -
There are different things you can wear or use to prevent chafing.

Haha, that is a great bit of stand up! Love it!

Hmmmm. I weigh 138. My legs are muscular and I have a thigh gap. Pilates, squats and running and I am large boned.0 -

That's interesting. I have quite narrow hips, so I guess my personal assessment that a thigh gap is unlikely is correct.
Luckily, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with chaffing, as I don't have a problem with it and would have to gain about 30 lbs for it to be an issue, based on past experience. So it's likely to go away, OP!
Thinking about this more because I tend to overthink things ;-), the deal with a thigh gap is that there's a gap when you stand with your feet together, right? Since people don't walk with their feet together, there's no reason there would be a connection.0 -
I have been a UK size 8 before and still had chafing!! I suppose it all depends on your body...0
-
Depends on your body. Even at my lightest (high 120s, 5'8") i still had chub rub... latina background. It wasn't nearly as bad, though. Shorts under skirts & those bandelette things help in the meantime.0

The undershorts look great but they seem kinda expensive when you have to buy several pairs, get them shipped from the USA when you're potentially losing a dress size every two months. Not sure how far into the future I'll need them either? Maybe they have something similar in New Zealand.
I have some lose fitting, thin leggings, but they don't cling to my thighs enough and they do start to rub after I've walked for about forty minutes.0 -
I'm looking forward to the day when I can walk in normal pants like jeans... like 2 hour walks, without chaffing.0

I think that it is the way you are built more than your weight.
I don't need to have a thigh gap.
I never had a problem with my thighs rubbing even at my highest weight. When I stand with my feet together, my thighs touch lightly at the very top crotch area but otherwise do not touch. My hips are 37.5" and my thighs are 17" at the midpoint.0 -
Only when I hit a pant size 6 (dress size 4) at ~135 pounds did I stop getting bad chaffing. I definitely do NOT have a thigh gap lol. Occasionally there is still some chaffing, but I can now go for a three mile run in shorts and not regret it. I feel much better about wearing dresses in the summer though, and that is really what a big goal was for me.0

Its weird isn't it, even at my biggest of around 180lbs I have never suffered with chafing. I don't have a thigh gap, and no sign of one developing yet through weight loss, but it's just never been an issue for me.0

Well, you do weigh 95lbs less than I did at my highest weight! How tall are you?0 -
please please don't get caught up in the thigh gap stupidity. if you have narrow hips, no gap. i haven't had a thigh gap ever; even when i was at my fittest and at 15% body fat. not everyone will have that and it's all about how your body is built, not your weight.0
