Reasons your weekends fail

beach + alcohol = my downfall this weekend....
I was like 1000 calories over on Saturday, whoops! Normally, I would not do this but I built in an extra 500 calorie deficit on Sunday to compensate for it...0 -
My exercise is usually pretty good on weekends and I don't go crazy on food, the spanner in the works is usually celebratory events! I can usually work around it and balance across the week and I'm on a steady downward trend with my weight so can't be doing anything too wrong! I can handle meals more than party buffet food - there's just too much variety to log each and every item. I just make sure I load up on the veg and salad on offer and keep the bread to a minimum. I've learnt in the past that if I let myself think I can't have this or that then I just sulk and give up. This way I have anything but know it's all got to balance out.
Alcohol too - I'll allow for a wine or gin in the evening midweek and usually OK on weekends - lots of temptation at my parents' but I drive us there so I can't touch it. It's harder when I'm on a night out. But I don't get out much these days (sadly) so I can balance it all out.0 -
I'm surprised at how many people said they have a drinking problem. It makes me glad I don't drink. My weekend problem is that I can snack at any time. I don't usually go over my calories, but it is more of a struggle on weekends. Except for the fact that I also have more time to exercise.0

Alcohol and unstructured meals0

I don't have a drinking problem! I drink because I like the taste and when I'm socialising. Weekends tend to be when that happens. Crikey. No need to get all judgey.0

Thanks everyone for the reply. Going to plan the weekend out this Thurs. so I'm prepped. I think it will be important to plan ahead for the foods I want to indulge in like a homemade pizza, pancakes, etc. Also, think now that it's warmer - I just need to get out of the house with my prepped meals/snacks and sit in the park or at a cafe to do my weekend stuff.0

Nobody said they have a drinking problem. Do you just assume that everyone who drinks has a drinking problem because you don't drink?0 -

I assume you meant by drinking problem, an energy balance problem caused by the large number of calories in alcohol (7 per gram), or the appetite disinhibition, and weren't implying that we are a bunch of alcoholics because we drink on the weekend.
At least I hope so.0 -
I think the main reason people fail on the weekends is because they fail to plan for them. It's easier during the work week, because your time is more structured, but if there's no plan for the weekend, then it's really easy to just go with the flow and eat whatever comes across your path.0

People are answering the question of why their weekend failed by saying it is due to alcohol. That sounds like a problem to me.0 -

I didn't hear anyone saying they have a drinking problem. I heard people saying enjoying alcohol on the weekends makes it hard to eat at a deficit those days. (Many were saying it puts them at maintenance for 1-2 days)
Or perhaps you were not calling them alcoholic and that is all the "problem" you meant?0 -

so drinking one day of the week = drinking problem??

For me it is being very busy and not eating food that I prepared myself. it is hard to have time to log my food and also know that I am logging it correctly. I also lose my mind sometimes when I see food. If it's out of sight, it's out of mind. If it's in sight, it's in mouth.0

Mine is staying up later and therefore snacking.0

Ummm four bud lights = 480 calories. So I have four beers on the beach and eat my regular daily allowance of 2250 that means I will be over by 480 calories..
Are you trying to say that four bud lights = a drinking program? Just stop making ridiculous statements that you lack the understand to comprehend, as that appears to be your MO.0 -
I think by drinking problem, TimothyFish meant - the poor planning around wanting to have a drink and not fitting in calories around it and letting that be the culprit for going over.0

the Fridge is 5 feet from the comfortable spot on my sofa0

I fail on weekends because I am not always in control of the food and also due to alcohol... I just started IF 16/8 and at least was able to keep that part of the deal going!
