Whole grains are healthy.
Refined grains are less healthy.
On a personal level, medical conditions and total diet determine how healthy a food is, but I would agree with this as a general statement. When it comes to carbs, I firmly believe fiber is king.0 -

Define "healthy"
I tend to agree...I guess I'm wondering why refined grains would be less healthy if my body doesn't 'react negatively' to them.

People have been eating grains for at least four million years. We haven't been in an obesity crisis for 4 million years.
Our obesity crisis started when we were all told to eat low fat, and eat "healthy whole grains". Eat less grain, and get thinner.
cereals and grains have been the staple of the human diet for thousands of years...long before the obesity epidemic.
epic fail of logic.
Everyone started eating their oatmeal and obesity ensued...see how stupid that sounds?0 -

From nutritional stand point, MY body is getting less nutrition from refined grains. Hence, it is less healthy as opposed to whole grains. Further, I get blood sugar spike (I'm type 2 diabetic) to refined grains which is a negative response. Overall, refined grains is less healthy if not at all healthy for me.

cwolfman, free your mind. You're stuck in the 80s.

Quinoa is not a grain -- botanically it is in the berry family.
Bulgar is a grain.
Both are good. Pinterest has lots of good recipes.0 -

It's berry good for you.
A sad side effect of Quinoa's fashionable popularity explosion is that it drove its price to the stratosphere and the poor people of Peru/Bolivia/Ecuador who depended on it for hundreds of years for nutrition, can barely afford it.0
