Ready in 45 minutes
Makes 8 servings (I get 9 out of it)
2 cups quick cooking oats
½ cup natural peanut butter (I like to use crunchy for added texture)
4 scoops protein powder (recipe says vanilla or cookies & cream work best)
1 tbsp ground flaxseeds
½ cup water
1. Knead all ingredients in a large bowl.
2. Line square baking pan with wax paper. Spread dough into pan using a spatula. (I find it easier to use my hands so I can press it in pretty good. Makes it like Cliff bar texture.) Optional: Spread a thin layer of peanut butter on top of dough.
3. Freeze for 30 minutes.
4. Remove from freezer. Cut into bars. (I store them in snack size Ziploc bags for an easy on-the-go snack. I like to eat them before the gym.)
Nutrients per serving:
Calories: 230, Total Fats: 10g, Saturated Fat: 2g, Trans Fat: 0g, Cholesterol: 15mg, Sodium: 20mg (depending on pb), Total Carbohydrates: 21g, Dietary Fiber: 4g, Sugars: 3g, Protein: 15g, Iron: 2mg

You're welcome. It came from Oxygen magazine. I've made them a few times and love them. It's easy on the stomach before working out. Very filling too. I don't spread the pb on top. I plugged in the info into MFP and when you cut it into 9 pieces it's more like 180-190 calories per bar.0

What type of protein powder are you using? There are so many different types with so many different ranges of protein.0

I use Optimum Nutrition Whey protein powder. I've had the chocolate, which is good, but right now I have Vanilla Ice Cream and it's good too. I order it from Amazon because it's cheaper than the stores.0

These sound yummy to me! I think I'll try them this weekend. One question: after you take them out of the freezer, do you store them in the refridgerator or not? Just wondering if they're better cold or room temp?
Thanks for sharing!0 -
Yes, I store them in the fridge, but when I take them to work with me (to eat on my way home to change for the gym) I just have it at my desk. Of course I only work 4 hours a day though. LOL There isn't anything in it that needs refrigerated though so I think it's okay.0

Sounds good! I would like to have these nights after my cardio JiuJitsu work outs and when I fence. I have everything on hand put the flax seeds. Think I can make them without them?0
