Does sweating make you lose weight?

My TDEE would be really low if sweat was any indication. 1 hour brisk walk and a 50 minute bike ride and about 2 drops of sweat. Guess my husband must be blessed, he had to towel himself down and is taking a shower. He can eat a whole cake now lol
Some people sweat a lot, some don't.0 -

You may be confusing correlation with causation. Maybe you were sweating from intense exercise which in turn caused you to drop some lbs. It wasn't the sweating that caused the weight loss. The sweat wasn't fat melting away.

no i was sitting by a pool during last summer
It's settled then, lounging poolside leads to weight loss
Better not let this secret out. The pools will be packed and there will be no where for me or you to lounge out our fat!!!

There is a TED talk you can watch on YouTube you can watch called "The mathmatics of weight loss" by Ruben Meerman. He explains what happens to fat in an easy to understand 20 something minute talk. Its quite entertaining.

Fat gets converted via lipolysis into heat, water, carbon dioxide, and ATP. ATP acts like a cellular carb loading, or provides the energy, the water is sweat out, and the carbon dioxide is breathed out. So, sweating will make you lose some fat, after the easier forms of energy are burned off, as it is a system of regulation cooling you so you don't cook, but not enough to cause significant weight loss-just water loss, which you will generally regain once you hydrate.

If you sit in a sauna to sweat more you will not convert more fat to sweat, you will merely lose more water

The biochemical reactions that result in sweat burn energy, or calories. So, as I said, if there is no other energy source, you could burn fat. It would never be enough to result in significant weight loss-you would likely die first if the proper conditions ever existed for such a thing. Your brain fires a signal to release acetylcholine. Acetylcholine travels through your nervous system to the eccrine glands or apocrine glands, which produce sweat for different reasons and of which you have about 4 million. These glands then pump out the sweat, which is primarily water and salts. Additionally, as I said before, when fat is converted to energy, it results in the water which we also sweat out. You are always sweating. You never stop sweating. Those calories are included in your BMR.0 -

If temperature has anything to do with losing weight. I'd be leaning more toward shivering freezing Temps, rather than hot conditions. .. Which would be negligible in the Grand scheme of things.0
