Great job to all the weekend racers! Good luck to everyone still shooting for their monthly goals, 6 days left including today. As for me, still on track for 10k a day in May and my first ever 200 mile month.

Had a pretty good showing at the 5K. I stayed close to coach's goal of 6:20s in pacing, ran an 19:48, and snagged 4th in my age group (preliminaries had me at 5th for awards time, but the official results got sorted again lastnight). Seems the 35-39 age group was the weakest, as my finish time netted a whopping 77th place overall. Splits were 6:22, 6:28, 6:30, and 0:28 (the last 0.1 was on the track, and a 5:03min/mi kick). No sense in going all out since I just had a marathon the weekend before and no speedwork. Winner ran a 14:20, top 20 were all 15min and under. The competition this year wasn't as stiff as last year.

Great job Doug considering no speedwork and a recent marathon.

Ended up taking a longer trail run through the woods with a friend today while I'm still in the cooler north as I'm afraid I'll have to switch to the treadmill after I return to Florida tomorrow.

Lots of great race pics & results from everybody this weekend! It has almost motivated me to sign up for some sort of running race between now and my next planned race in November... almost.

5/2 - 5.25 beautiful miles through my neighborhood
    5/4 - 5 miles, indoor track
5/5 - 4 miles, treadmill (soggy, foggy day here); another 5 on stationary bike
    5/6 - 4 miles, indoor track; weights / abs
5/7 - woke up feeling like #$*%...so decided to go back to sleep. May run this evening if I feel better.
    5/8 - 4 miles, indoor track; weights
5/9 - 10.5 miles to celebrate 1000 days on MFP. Don't usually pay attention to those numbers, but 1000 is a lot!
5/10 - HAPPY MAMA'S DAY - rest for me too
5/11 - 4.5 chilly, windy miles. Who dialed the weather back a month or so?
    5/12 - 4 miles, indoor track; weights / abs
    5/13 - 4.05 miles
    5/14 - 4.75 miles, treadmill
5/15 - 4.1 miles, FOGGY...I kinda like running in the fog, feels mysterious.
    5/16 - 4.5 miles
    5/18 - 4.1 miles...lots of wind
    5/19 - 4 miles...still windy...is it May or March?
5/20 - 0! Ugh! Overslept and woke up to rain, no time to go to gym instead. Blech! Missed a lot here!
5/21 - 5 miles, treadmill (Trek class, like spin only running instead of a bike)
5/22 - 6 miles on a beautiful, sunny morning in DSM. Perfect 6 a.m. run!
5/23 - 11.6 miles. Last long training run before Dam to Dam Half on 5/30.
    5/26 - 4 miles, indoor track; weights / abs

Great job everybody on the weekend races! They are a total reward for all the training / daily runs, aren't they?

So, I was just finally able to catch up on everybody's posts. @shanaber Hobbes is amazing! Way to go! @SBRRepeat Congratulations on the tri - you are made of much tougher stuff than I
@skippygirlsmom Yikes, a driving teen and a mile long hill...yikes!!
@isulo_kura I love the muddy shoe pic, I always feel like it was a job well done when my shoes end up like that
@mwyvr @9voice9 @Glossberg Way to smash your goals! You gotta be feeling snazzy right about now!
@7lenny7 your 1st timed 5k sounds awesome, I love that you took from that experience things you can learn from & apply to your next....soooo...when's the next???
@kimlight2 You're going to do great on your 1st 5k, most people surprise rather than disappoint themselves, and the fact that you are out there trying at all is inspirational and positive, so your coworkers are going to end up being really impressed with you. Being super fit is one thing, being a fit runner is a whole 'nother!
@jtarmom you made me giggle, your first HM goals sound exactly like mine...congratulations!!!
@Daisy471 Congratulations on your 10k PR!!!
@SonicDeathMonkey80 I wish my going all out looked anything near your not going all out!
@emmy15rocks I'm sorry you took ill. Get better, and don't let the May goal bug you...there's always June!

Just got the age group results for our 10K I was 12/86 and Skip was 10/23  This is the elevation info from mapmyrun - I know it'll mean more to everyone then it means to me, to me it means I went up a hard hill and I'm a baby LOL

This is what happends in Huntsville when you delay a race due to a tree falling down on the course about an hour before start time.

    5/25: 3.1 miles - First 5k race, chip time of 31:23.55...very pleased!
    5/26: 1.5 miles - unplanned easy run

    Progress: 32.2 of 40 miles

I was going to rest today but I was anxious to see how this ding in my achilles would be affected by a short, easy run. I went a mile and a half, at an easy pace, and I'm cautiously pleased to say that while there was some discomfort while running, it didn't feel any worse afterwords and might even feel slightly better now.

@Wendy1Fl if all goes well, I have my eye on a 10k on July 18th. Before then I'll try to find one or two 5k's to fit into my schedule.

Won't hit my goal but it's all good. June will be better, assuming I can take the Florida heat!

@skippygirlsmom - that hill looks brutal! Great job on your and Skippy's place!
    @wendy1f1 - love the picture!
