sad observation...

so i did a little test on MFP to check something out, and the results, i have to say are sad. My profile is private. completely private, there is no way anyone can see my goals, weight, city, age, etc. so when i get requests they are at random with no message because they can't really say they have the same goal, or same city or whatever.. i reject most requests because i like to keep my friends lists tight knit, and i can't stand when someone requests me, then i see "joe bob hasn't logged in in over a month, he needs some envcouragement!" anyway... usually i will get from 1 to 5 friend requests a day when i have my regular pictures up:

people werent getting my point, and getting to close to calling me a slut so i changed it. so that you get the point, that i am not always in my bra! loll

in my openion that is a lot concidering they know NOTHING about me... literrally judging by a photo whether they want to add me or not..

so today i changed my profile picture to this:

just to see if i still got 5 requests a day.... now tell me why its already the end of my work day and i havent gotten even 1 request???? it kind of pissed me off to see that people judge ONLY by looks that much! so shallow!!

    It's nature baby. The healthiest/best looking people get the most attention. It's natural to want a good partner to help take care of things whether it be a good job or being able to take care of chores around the house. We've been doing since the caveman days. :smile:

    awhh you're too sweet!!! but what if i didn't crack you up? like i wonder how many people are friends with boring, shallow, not dedicated people JUST because they are pretty?? grrr... that's not cool :(

    I'm used to it. I see it every day in my field of work. Teeny pretty girl wearing size negative 20 jeans can get all the help in the world, while I'm struggling with heavy boxes. Any help? Nope. I didn't expect the internet to be any different. After all, it IS all about angles.

    Unfortunately we live in a visual world. We take no interest unless we've been interested visually. And that's true of us all, on some level or another. The magazine cover has to show something that catches our interest in order for us to pick it up and thumb through it. The car we want to buy is based on how it looks first, whether it be color, rims or design. We don't say "I'm picking the car based on the best mileage..."

    you're right about that... but magazines and cars are items, people aren't. i get your point though.. we see before anything else.

    Really not trying to be mean but what else do you expect when you have a picture up of chest and puckering up your lips for the camera? Personally I like the hair and big lips more then the chest area but still. The normal picture you have up is advertising for attention.

    I apologize if that statement offended you. Just what my reflection on your normal picture when I look at it. I'd do the same little reflection on roylawrence87 since he says he gets the same thing but I don't like guys in that way and giving an opinion on his would require me looking at his body more then I care to do.

    Edit: My sad observation is after just saying that about roylawrence87, I realized binary_jester is the only person I have sent a request too and I'm pretty sure he is a dude. Never can tell with this internet thing.

    no offense taken, i knew that was coming :) i personally don't think its that provoking myself, but if think im sexy... LOL I am totally kidding. i change the picture often, so i dont only get requests when i am blowing a kiss.. i get your point :)

    lol thats gonna happen this is still a social site. im at a point now where the only people i request are the ones that are friends with all my friends. i just havent got to you yet but we have many mutual friends. its sad that people are like that but not everyone is

    You are a very pretty girl, but you cannot deny that that pic is somewhat provocative. When you post a pic like that, what do you expect? I'm not saying it's right, but every action has an equal reaction. Hope you get what you are looking for:)

    Well when I friend people I like to read their profile & get to know a lil' bit about them...& always include a message with an introduction...also when I get requests I like to get a message ...unfortunately we do live in a shallow world & even on a website that's supposed to be for support ...there's still that thing where "people judge a book by it's cover"
