    5/1- rest day
    5/2 - 5 miles 8K Steeple Chase Race
    5/3 - 3.5 miles
    5/4 - rest day
    5/5 - 6.3 miles
5/6 - 3.5 miles - decided to cut it short a bit so I could go home and get Macy for a walk
    5/7 - 4.5 miles
    5/8 - 4.6 miles
5/9 - 2.4 miles - just a quick run to get my legs moving
5/10 - 3.5 miles of Mother's Day fun with Skip way hot at 85 degrees
5/11 - active rest day walked the Macy 3 miles
    5/12 - 6.5 miles
5/13 - rest day - well I walked 3 miles with Macy and cut the yard so my feet were moving LOL
    5/14 - 5.5 miles
    5/15 - 5.3 miles
    5/16 - 3.2 miles - 5K and a little extra with warm up
5/17 - 6.4 miles with Skip nice easy miles
5/18 - rest day walked Macy a few miles but that's it, took Skip to breakfast in the morning for her birthday and went to the track banquet last night
    5/19 - 6.2 miles
    5/20 - 5.3 miles
5/21 - 4.4 miles - I've been running this route pretty consistent since Nov 2014 and this was the fastest I ran it, 43:59
    5/22 - 3.4 miles
5/23 - 3.5 miles - easy run with Skip before our 10K on Monday
    5/24 - rest day - walked Macy 3 miles
5/25 - 6.2 miles 10K cotton row run - tough course, it wanted to make me cry LOL No PR for me 1:03.03 was the chip time. Skip finished 57:49 chip time a PR for her though she wasn't thrilled with it. The "hill" was all everyone promised it was be I did a speed walk up it and wanted to die never mind run  Race was delayed an hour because a tree fell on the course 30 mins before start time. I'm checking mapmyrun and it looks like the hill goes up 100 feet in less than a quarter mile. But before that "hill" it uphill for over a mile.
    5/26 - 4.6 recovery miles - ouch
5/27 - 3.5 miles decided to cut it a bit short - needed to get to work my VACATION starts at noon today!
    5/28 - 3.5 miles
    5/29 - 8.25 miles
    5/30 - 4.8 miles

114.8 out of 120 miles completed - doubt I'll make goal, but I'm happy to be back at the century mark

On Allen's computer so my ticker won't work - 5.2 miles to go

I downloaded MFP on Skips phone trying to find everything lol

5/31 5.3 miles and its GOAL at 120.1 of 120 miles!

    Great job this month everyone!

@SBRRepeat keep on them! I nag my 20 yo son all the time to run. Its not a popular position! But I saw a poll or study that said within 6 years your spouse would likely follow you in running.I figure that would also extend to close family and friends. If my daughter wanted to do something with me, I'd be all about it.
Docs are something. Told mine about my bothersome knee. He said "that's normal" ugh... But if I want an MRI or blood work he's gold. Apparently does not have faith in PT or the like. And he's a D.O.

Last day of the month! For a bit I didn't not expect to get this close/meet my goal. Husband says he's running my final 3.25 for the month with me today... He's still n bed...
Longest run, best run yet yesterday. I am not sore or very stiff. I don't know what's changed. I've been proactive about rehabbing the piriformis muscle. I had very little calf pain yesterday and could push harder. If I remember, I take a few (3) baby aspirin before a run. Took double the dose yesterday. I tried to head out and a storm was coming in. Waited 3 hours, took more and headed out. Wonder if it's my rehab work or the cure all aspirin. I also have been free with my calories.

Community question- I committed to Higdons 12 week half plan. (Will just repeat a few weeks to get me 18). There is a 5 and a 10k scheduled. Do you, (should I) try to make these races? I can see the potential benefit... Just wondering about others positions on this. This is my first...

My month will end just short of my goal.. 35.5/40 miles. I planned on getting another 3.5 in today but Achilles pain us shutting me down for a week. I just finished 3.5 miles of walking and that seemed to go ok, so I'll continue with that.

@SBRRepeat - Definitely keep on them and let your mom know there are several 'older' newer runners here if they want encouragement. I wouldn't be running either if it weren't for my daughter, well indirectly - she encouraged me to work with a trainer and he got me running but she has encouraged me all along.

Wrapped up my final miles on the treadmill yesterday/today as it was 95 out with too much humidity. First month in a long time that I made my running, biking (500 mile), swimming (5 mile), and lifting goals (9 sessions) targets as well.

    Onto June!

    5/3 - 26.2 miles (3:44 total time, 8:33 pace)
    5/7 - 6 miles
    5/9 - 4 miles

    5/24 - 13.1 miles
    5/25 - 4 miles
    5/26 - 8 miles
    5/28 - 4 miles (fartlek)
    5/29 - 5 miles
    5/30 - 1 mile (pre-weight session warmup)

Didn't quite hit my monthly mileage goal, but all those extra rest days meant my calf was A-OK by marathon day today and I hit my race goal with a GIGANTIC PR at the Minneapolis marathon! My first marathon last fall was 4:43:42, and today I ran 4:04:39. Still basking in the glory :D

I had the bright idea of going out for a run on a particularly hot and humid day, during the hottest time of day!

Needless to say, I didn't wuite make my goal for the month, since I had a little over six miles left as of today, of which I completed 3.08.

There's several changes I need to make to my routine, and I think I'll see some improvement.

    Congratulations, @kristinegift !!!

I tried to run today and my right lower leg got really angry with me again. I'm going to try out an indoor track tomorrow and hope I'll be able to run at all in June.

@dennie24 have you recently changed shoes? I'm not sure what or how mine got started but I've battled shin splints the last 3 years. It coinsided with my piriformis muscle acting up.

    Good luck with it.

@Elise4270 I considered that maybe my shoes are the problem but I don't think so. I changed them out in February and I think they only have around 150 miles on them. I'm ordering another pair this week to see if it helps. I can't tell if the problem is in my calf or shin.

5/2 - 5.25 beautiful miles through my neighborhood
    5/4 - 5 miles, indoor track
5/5 - 4 miles, treadmill (soggy, foggy day here); another 5 on stationary bike
    5/6 - 4 miles, indoor track; weights / abs
5/7 - woke up feeling like #$*%...so decided to go back to sleep. May run this evening if I feel better.
    5/8 - 4 miles, indoor track; weights
5/9 - 10.5 miles to celebrate 1000 days on MFP. Don't usually pay attention to those numbers, but 1000 is a lot!
5/10 - HAPPY MAMA'S DAY - rest for me too
5/11 - 4.5 chilly, windy miles. Who dialed the weather back a month or so?
    5/12 - 4 miles, indoor track; weights / abs
    5/13 - 4.05 miles
    5/14 - 4.75 miles, treadmill
5/15 - 4.1 miles, FOGGY...I kinda like running in the fog, feels mysterious.
    5/16 - 4.5 miles
    5/18 - 4.1 miles...lots of wind
    5/19 - 4 miles...still windy...is it May or March?
5/20 - 0! Ugh! Overslept and woke up to rain, no time to go to gym instead. Blech! Missed a lot here!
5/21 - 5 miles, treadmill (Trek class, like spin only running instead of a bike)
5/22 - 6 miles on a beautiful, sunny morning in DSM. Perfect 6 a.m. run!
5/23 - 11.6 miles. Last long training run before Dam to Dam Half on 5/30.
    5/26 - 4 miles, indoor track; weights / abs
    5/27 - 4.25 miles on another beautiful morning (97.6/115)
5/28 - 4.75 miles, treadmill (Trek class, easy on the "hills")
    5/29 - rest before tomorrow's half
5/30 - 13.1 (officially) at Dam to Dam Half; PR of 1:52:35. Woo hoo!

@kristinegift - That is a fantastic PR and fantastic pace!!!

@booklover22: Well done, congratulations on surpassing your goal like that!
@kristinegift : What an awesome marathon time, that's really gigantic!

Really, well done everone who met their goal.

I didn't quite meet mine - ended up with 91.1 km instead of 100 km. I was planning a 13km long run on Sunday, which would have been enough. But then instead of running I spent the time "finishing up" something for work, which ended up taking nearly ten hours instead of the two I had optimistically planned. The annoying thing is that I could have totally avoided that if I had managed my time better during the rest of the week... Oh well, there's always another month, so off to the June challenge!
