hi!! Is anyone on here on a low carb diet? I have read a lot about the ketosis diet but I was wondering if you still monitor calorie intake. My major worry is not getting enogh fiber without going over your carb count. I am going to get some keto sticks tomorrow to ensure my body is in ketosis

I don't do low carb but used to. Yes, calories still matter. Some people find that they don't have to count because their appetite will naturally regulate their intake for them, but the calories still MATTER.
For others? Their hunger signals are still out of whack and calorie AND carb tracking are both important. If you're worried about fiber, there are always supplements.0 -
I lost without counting I am losing more by counting. I don't think I would ever have gained, but I didn't always lose. Also, I never tracked when I was in real ketosis and when I might not have been.
The advantage for me was the absence of hunger pangs or cravings and the ability to go for hours without eating if I had to. I stuck with it even when I wasn't losing that much that fast because I felt like I was free of a mood-altering drug. But with this kind of control, it has been fun to monitor intake and lose weight faster.0 -
I went from 240 to 180 without counting calories although I was conscious of them. When I started logging and weighing my food, I was seeing better results in terms of weight loss since I only have 20 lbs to lose until goal and I know I was overeating.
Flaxseed meal is a GREAT way to get in more fiber. And it's 0 carbs after subtracting the fiber. I have a One Minute Muffin every morning for breakfast that is flavored with banana extract. It's delicious.0 -

Do not throw away your money on keto sticks. When used for keto, they're a scam. They exist for T1 diabetics to detect a medical problem. Bloggers push them on people while taking a cut of the sale, even though they are only measuring when you have an excess of only 1 type of ketone. If it's positive, you're in ketosis. If it's negative, 50% chance you're still in ketosis.
I have to monitor intake, whether I'm in maintenance or a deficit. Some people can instinctively find their maintenance or deficit without counting, and if you have a lot (50+) to lose, it may work for you at first, but get harder the closer you get to goal.
Fiber does not count towards your carb count (net carbs). The calories count, but in terms of staying below 20g to maintain ketosis (or whatever number your body ends up using), only count the non-fiber.0
