i do zumba 3 x times a week plus walking, love it as its just dancing!0

Watching your food intake is for weight loss, exercise is for fitness. There is no "good" exercise. Whatever you like and will commit to is the best for you. Walk, run, dance, swim, joing a class, lift weights, start a sport, get a bike. What sounds interesting and doable? This is what will work for you.0

Walking is a good exercise, and pretty simple! Same with running and cycling.
I would also like to second this:Watching your food intake is for weight loss, exercise is for fitness. There is no "good" exercise. Whatever you like and will commit to is the best for you. I find that I often do the same exercises in the gym over and over if left to my own devices, so every now and again I'll follow a YouTube video to spice it up. There's tons of them ranging from really simple to advanced and complicated. You can find them to match the equipment that you have, and your level of difficulty.0

you cant get much more simple than walking or running, though actually exercise doesn't help weight loss as such. you just need a calorie deficit for that.0 -
I walk a lot! Have just started adding swimming and I really enjoy it!0

I'll repeat what others have said, somewhat.... Find activities you like and do it. Ride a bike, walk, jog, swim, gym machines, etc. Also when you decide to do weights stick with the simple ones: push ups (flat bench press), squats, wide grip pull-ups (back), palms facing you pull-ups (biceps), deadlifts, etc. Don't try and do crazy isolation exercises people do as so many of those are not for people starting out (IMO not even for 1/2 of the people doing them).
The main part is to start and be active. If you start doing that and put the diet in check you'll lose weight.0 -

Agree with the post about watching food intake is for weight loss, exercise is for fitness. But for exercising, walking is great, add a app like Mapmywalk and you can see improvement. If you want other exercises, try HIIT style exercises like on Bodyrock.tv or Zuzka light. You can do basics, like a sit up/plank routine, followed by push ups, followed by lunge variations, and finish with burpees.
Get a friend to join you, it will make it better0 -

It's when your body is burning more calories than you are eating. Calories in vs Calories out (CICO). You should have been given a set amount t of Calories that you should eat per day when you signed up for MFP. Just eat that amount and no more and you will lose weight.0 -

If you are under your calories for the day you should lose. BUT being too far under your calories can put your body into starvation mode and make it hold on to the weight. So if you have your max calories set for 1300 per day and are 1100 - 1299 for the day you are good (assuming you set your goals up properly). If you are eating something like 700 calories a day you are too far under and risk you body going into starvation mode.0 -

Yes that is a deficit. But also don't starve yourself. Make sure you use a kitchen scale to weigh all your food to be as accurate as possible. The program is also designed to give you extra calories for the exercise that you do. Many people will eat about half of those as well. Most refrain from eating all of them back because of the inaccuracies of just how many calories where lost due to exercise can vary so greatly. Again don't starve youself.0

Fine. Do your own reading get both sides and decide for yourself. Easiest and most cost effective exercise to do is walking. It takes no training and you really don't need to spend nothing more than a good pair of shoes to do it.

I thought very large calorie deficit is common knowledge that stalls will happen more often.

Weight loss happens in the kitchen. Fitness happens in the gym.
Exercises aren't "good" or "bad" unless you've got bad form or are doing something incorrectly and putting yourself at risk for injury. You just have to find what you like. I'm not sure what you mean by "uncomplicated." What exercises have you come across that you found complicated? It doesn't get much more simple than walking, running, and/or jogging. However, some form of strength training would be highly beneficial in helping you retain the muscle you have while you lose fat. When we lose weight, we lose both fat and muscle. Strength training just helps minimize muscle loss and allows you to gain strength. Strength training is only as complicated as you make it. Also, anything can be complicated if you're unfamiliar with it. Don't reject forms of exercise because they seem "hard" - doing things that are challenging is how we improve ourselves.0 -

No. This girl should not be warned that she could gain weight by eating 700 calories a day. This kind of misinformation is what kept my eating disorder cycle alive for many years. OP, you will not go into starvation mode and "hang onto everything you eat." I believed for so long that I had "killed my metabolism" and was "in starvation mode" that I became afraid to eat anything. I became afraid that my body would "hang on" to everything, so I actually did starve myself. Please, please do not believe this. With that being said, you HAVE to fuel your body with proper nutrition and keep yourself in a SAFE calorie deficit to lose weight the healthy way. 700 calories a day will NOT make you gain weight, but you will not meet your nutrient needs, you'll probably be dizzy, faint, weak, etc. Follow MFP's recommendations, stay in a safe deficit, try to hit your macros/micros, and exercise for health. ps...to answer your actual question, OP, I find group exercise classes to be the best, and most fun. Zumba, Piloxing, PiYo, TRX, Yoga, Spinning. Try them out, and stick with what you like Having fun while exercising is the key to sticking to it. I look forward to my workouts and they really are a huge stress-reliever.0

Another vote for "It doesn't get much more simple than walking."
By parking your car away from your destination, you can incorporate walking into your work day and while doing errands. If you take public transportation, you can get off at an earlier stop.0
