70 Days / 20 Pounds Challenge

Hello!

I have been on this weight loss journey for approximately a year and have lost 60. I have 20 to go and am really struggling with staying focused and with motivation.

In order to jump start things and reach the finish line I bought a Fitbit Charge HR, which really helps me keep track of the amount of calories I burn each day. I calculated that I have to burn 70,000 calories to lose 20 pounds, and if I have a daily deficit of 1,000 calories, it will take me 70 days to lose this last 20 pounds.

So, here is the challenge.

I will post each day that I have a 1,000 calorie deficit to this thread and am asking you to join me. :) You don't have to post on consecutive days to be part of the challenge. For example, on a day that I don't reach a 1,000 calorie deficit I will not post anything. You can do the same.

Together we can reach the finish line!

    Nice work!

I think MFP is undercounting what I need. LOL. To get a 1000-calorie deficit according to MFP, I'd have to drop below 1200 cal a day, and that's not happening. According to MFP, with exercise, I had a 562 calorie deficit yesterday.

According to my scale, I dropped 2lbs, but that's because I weighed at different times of day because I joined MFP in the middle of the day yesterday and weighed for today in the morning. But I'll post my collective weight loss daily. :)

Great, whatever works for you. I eat 1400 calories a day and when I workout I burn 2600 a day so I can get it in on those days. You will notice that I skipped a few days. ☺

I think maybe I'm undercounting my level of activity! I can't find my Fitbit right now (the way I lost my first ~10lbs), though.

The most I do in a workout is 500 cal, usually. I'm HORRIFICALLY out of shape right now, so I can't make that at the moment.

You don't look horrible in your picture. It will come... just don't quit. ☺

I'm not as heavy as I am out of shape. LOL. I couldn't run a mile, even without my exercise allergy (yes, that's a real thing). It took me nearly 3 months to work up to WALKING 10k steps a day. The first day I did 5k total, all I could do the next day was sleep.

Its not really possible for me to have 1000 calorie deficit safely on a regular basis. I would have to eat under 1200 or exercise a crazy amount BUT I am rooting for you!!!! Go Girl!

Hey, look at that! My food diary's already set for a 500 cal deficit (1lb loss/wk), but I logged my treadmill desk walking and hit an extra 542 deficit...which makes 1042 total! Whoop!

70 days from today is around my bday, so I will join in. I can't do a 1000 calorie deficit either though. I can manage about 800 calories, which will give me about a 15 pound loss.
How do you burn 2600 calories?

Hi. If I work out and stick to 1200 to 1400 a day I can create a 1,000 calorie deficit, mostly because I have quite a bit of a walk to work. The walk seems to push me over the goal of 2,200 to 2,400 a day. If I workout pretty intensely I can burn 2,600.

I did it again! Tomorrow's going to be interesting. I slept crazy-late, so I really did it mostly by not eating much before midnight (it wouldn't even let me close out my food diary--:P--not intentionally not eating until late, BTW), so today I doubt I'll technically make it. BUT I'm averaging exercise and calories across 2 days, so I'll make it for both. Right? Right!!!

Stuck to 1300 calories yesterday and added in swimming, running and spinning for a total deficit of 1000!

Day #3. I'm about 100 cals off, but like I said, I knew I wouldn't technically make it, and yesterday, I was at 1400 over or so, so I'm claiming it!

    Day #5! I walked it!

My shoulders are trashed (don't ask) so no circuit training of any sort. Tomorrow I should be back on the wagon. I walked 25,000 steps today to get the deficit up. :P

#6! Got it with walking (20,000 steps), but I'm Shredding in a few minutes, which will cover my evening snack!

I think MFP may be undercounting my calories burned. If so, awesomesauce. Cuz I lost 6lbs in 8 days.... I'm hoping not TOO much of that was just water. We'll see if I can squeeze 2lbs a week out of my weight loss in another week or two, when it will get tough.
