That's a tall order. Depending on when in Oct you mean, that's ~3 lbs per week on average, and not generally advised. You should probably back off that goal a bit. Out of curiosity, how much have you lost in your first month to date?

Yeah, sorry...unless you're extremely obese more than 2 lbs/wk is not advisable. That would get you about 30 lbs if everything goes absolutely perfectly. It's very difficult to keep that pace going.

3 months to lose 50lbs? That would be tough for me if I were a 22 year old male. You may need to reassess your goal weight. Realistically, losing 1% of your body weight a week is nominal. So for you that would be about 22-23lbs in that time span.

Given that you've lost 22 lbs in 3 months, or about 7 a month, on 1200 cals/day, I think you have your answer ... 50 lbs in 3.5-4 months just isn't going to happen. You're likely looking at a further ~20 lbs between now and then ... which is nothing to grumble about.

1200 cal/day is not something anyone with an education in nutrition and weight loss would recommend.

Why do you have a hard limit in October, if I may ask?

So in 3 months you lost 22 and now in the next 3 months you wnat to lose 50? See where thats going?

Unrealistic and will not happen. Why do you think you will be over twice as effective? Weight loss slows down the less you have to lose.

Good thinking. Now, 50 lbs for your 2016 birthday ... that is certainly feasible. Set that as your target.

Judging by your picture, you already look great. You're going to look amazing on your birthday whether you lose 5 pounds or 35 pounds until then. Stay active, eat healthy - you'll be golden.

To help lose inches, cut out dairy. Milk, butter, cheese, all dairy. Not as tough as you may think. You still won't lose 30lbs. But it will help. Check out a program called THM. they allow tons of dairy and weight loss happens., but more importantly health happens too! I have recently cut the dairy and feel amazing. Seeing weight that has stuck around beginning to vanish.

You don't need to eliminate dairy from your diet to lose weight. Just eat at a deficit and you'll be fine.

Well done on your loss so far OP!

You I'll look better for your birthday, if you carry on on your current plan, steady reduced calorie diet - whether or not that is 50 lbs lost or 20 lbs lost! Good luck to you and stay healthy!

Be sure to get enough protein every day, and have a good exercise program so you don't lose muscle. That way you can maintain your weight loss after all your hard work. Good luck and keep going!

Well you didn't ask me but I lost 54lbs...it took me from June 2014 to Feb 2015 (247 days) to hit my 48lb target ..the rest slipped off trying to find maintenance

Did it by Calories in < calories out to lose the weight ...no fads, gimmicks, complications..started faster and slowed it down to 0.5lbs a week after about 4 months

    Walked more (got a fitbit)

Progressive training programme 3x a week got my body tight and rocking

    It works, don't complicate it

A healthy, sustainable loss is .5 lb. per week for every 25 lbs. you're overweight. So in 4 months you could lose 15 lbs.—not 50. But you can keep going & lose the rest after your birthday.

You lose weight by eating fewer calories than you burn—period. I'm 5'2", and the advice in the Sexypants post worked for me: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1

It'll take trial & error to find what works for you. Logging is simple, but it ain't easy. Logging works.

Too aggressive for most mere mortals.

I took the lazy way and took 3+ years to lose 54.

20 to 25 should be attainable by then for most folks.

I have lost 45 lbs in 5 months using 1200 calorie diet and I have made working out part of my daily ritual. Cardio is my best friend! I have never been healthier or felt better. I can honestly say Short of surgery, I have tried every "Lose weight and feel great" pill, plan, or gimmick out there. Every time I would get about 3 weeks in and get very sick. I have been going strong now for 5 months and still have a lot more to lose. But I love the new me!

Deadlines are not something that should be done with weight loss, It's a difficult enough journey day-to-day, and there are going to be fluctuations.

Just stick to a plan, be consistent, and take it as it comes. Be patient. You can't put a deadline on weight loss.
