@shanaber you go running twin!!! Great job this month. Thank you for the kind words, it's friends like you that kept my spirits up and that was more than half the battle!

@shanaber - I do use a foam roller and it helps, for a while. I'm getting a massage tomorrow, hopefully that gets rid of the knots in my hip!

    65.31/60+

Running 2.3 then dipping in the super cold water (55ish) and running back seems like cheating. But I'll take it over the 103 heat index! My husband is threatened, *evil laugh*! I can keep up/out run him the first mile on the way back. *continues evil laugh*!

Congratulations to EVERYONE that joined in the challenge!

I read that women tend to get injured hips down, men feet up. So women, typically should focus on hips, glutes ect like @shanaber mentioned. I have a bit of shin pain and I'm positive mine is a glute issue. I try to work on high knees, and my PT suggested pylometrics. Ugh, shoot me. LOL! FWIW- I think I got a lot out of reformer Pilates

@skippygirlsmom I think I missed the "why" you were doing PT, I joined after all that. I too, told a surgeon "No thanks" on back surgery. Of course, now it doesn't even look like a back issue. Dumass docs.

@ddmom0811 congrats on your goal! I'm getting a bit nervous! It seems the week on the training plan are flying by! I keep telling my self I can register for the quarter marathon if I have to just so I can set that nervousness aside.

A great night to wrap up my June running. I had planned on just 3 miles but ended up doing 5.8 over two runs (2.5 & 3.3 miles). A beautiful night for running. My second run was at 11pm in temps of 61F. Tonight's runs felt great!

I blew past my goal for June. I had expected my little injuries to keep me out more than they did, but I bounced back well.

    Looking forward to July!

@elise4270 I have 2 compressed discs in my back that are pressing on my sciatic nerve and of course the garden variety of things like arthritis that comes from being a "mature" athlete LOL I was running between 120 and 140 miles a month and building up when in November I started to have bad pain, by December I couldn't run at all without crying, not even 10 yards. Rested, stretched, iced, nothing helped. Finally went to "spine specialist" and he wanted to operate and told me no more running...not an option. So I told him I wanted to do PT he said okay and shots, no no shots just PT. Asked our local FB running group for a name of a great PT who was a runner and would get it. About half the people who replied gave me Jonathan's name. After my first visit he said he would have me running by the weekend. That weekend I ran 2 miles almost completely pain free. It still bothers me and sometimes sitting in the car or at work is just painful. Some days it bothers me when I run more than others, but I need to stay consistent with my strengthening and stretching exercises and it's pretty much a non issue with me. When I feel it the most is stretching after I run it's like someone is ripping the nerve out from my leg. So it's not a big drastic issue but one I wanted to work out without surgery if I could because I've had too many friends who do one surgery then in a year or so another, do shots over and over I wanted to try without getting into that cycle if I could.

See you all in the July thread!

    Great job everyone!

Great job everyone. I am close to my goal but may fall short this month because of my glute and hamstring issues.

@Dhathri and @KOW75 Make sure you join us in the July Challenge. This thread is last month's (June's). The link for July's is quoted above.

My ticker isn't working at the moment but my total for June was 53 miles, not the total I was hoping for... I'll shoot for 75 miles for July once again! Have my first 10K Race on the 4th! Good luck to anyone else racing this weekend! Happy 4th of July!

@Shanaber and @Pandora_and_her_box - Thank you! My Physical Therapist has been a miracle worker. I can add in strength training now so I'm going to do Strong Curves. I can increase the minutes of my run by 2 every three days. My right glute is finally starting to do its job.

@skippysmom Ouch, poor you! You're my hero for getting back to it though.
@Dhathri, you're in the right place to rekindle your passion for running!

There's a tube strike in London tonight and tomorrow that has completely mucked up my schedule for this week :-1: Will need to leave at the crack of dawn tomorrow to make it into work (at all, never mind on time!) and then have a work event in the evening that's not optional, so had to cram in an unscheduled, short run this lunchtime.
