Selena: My heart aches for you and your family. Tough times, indeed. I hope things settle and improve. I'm glad that you posted to let us know how you're doing.
DH & I had a visit with one of our financial advisors about the topic of estate planning. We have some work to do. Those things we have in place currently are good, but incomplete. We need to find a lawyer and write a will.

Carol, thank you for reminding me that I've managed to keep some weight off... very easy to focus on the lbs put back on. Really appreciate your kind perspective
Ann, thank you for sharing the lovely and peaceful picture of your special place. So very thoughtful. Hugs!
Lenora, I can tell you have a heart of gold. I'm sorry that I didn't express myself well and used the term 'bipolar' in reference to the ups and downs of the events in my life. Honestly, I'm doing okay... it's just emotionally exhausting sometimes. And you ladies are my safe place, so dumping it all out was a bit selfish on my part. I really appreciate your helpful advice and am sure it will be a help to some one or more of us, either for ourselves or someone we love.
Chris, I'm sorry you've been having trials. You will be in my prayers. Thank you for your kind words.
Katla, I am glad to 'know' you... your concern lightens my load
Hugs to you all,
Selena in Utah0 -
Hi ladies,
Barbie - the park is located about 30 minutes from our home. There are 7 different hiking trails of various lengths and difficulty. The one we walked that night is 1.75 miles. We like to take the dogs there in the evening because most people have gone home. It is a non-profit foundation and they hold summer camps and programs for various activities like kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and horse back riding. They also do therapeutic riding for disabled kids and adults and have programs for Veterans using the horses and kayaks. One of our dogs, the one my DH is walking, doesn't like other dogs so we like to go when the chance of running into others is limited. We have several smaller parks around us that we like to walk in also.
DJ - Yes, the black and white (cow) dog is a pit mix. I think she may be mixed with beagle because she can smell food and comes running. She is shorter in height than others I've seen and fostered. She is a rescue that was abused as a pup. It took us about 1 year for her to trust us enough to pet her and like it. When we approached she would just freeze in place. We haven't heard her bark yet. I could post a picture of her when we first got her but it's not pretty. The one my DH is walking is also a pit mix but probably mixed with Mastiff. He is over 100 pounds and has a huge head. We call him our little pygmy hippo. His tongue hangs out the side of his mouth and he runs kind of crooked. Front and back end don't line up. We ALL were heading to bed!!
yanniejannie - It is a beautiful place to walk. They have pastures of horses and trails through the woods and along a river. On our walk we saw several deer, bunnies, two groundhogs and an eagle flying overhead. Many people get married there overlooking the Potomac River and using the manor house for the reception.
Selena - Can't imagine all you've gone through. Prayers for some peace and rest. Great picture with all of those hummers. We have three that are visiting our feeders.
Chris - Sorry that things didn't go in your favor.
Becca - Love your pictures. I showed the one of you and your DH on the dance floor and he immediately said, "Oh no! She's giving him "the look"." We make a game of me giving him "the look". Usually, it's when he's joking around with our friends and I think he's going a little too far. Can't wait to see you in that dress.
Welcome to the new ladies.
Wondering where Pip is...

Selena...my feeling is that if "dumping" it here makes you feel just a little better, do it without a moments thought. As you said, this is a safe place where you can express your feelings without being judged. Sometimes it's easier than to "burden" family and friends. It helps to get it out.
So I will take a moment to do some dumping. Someone asked what my plans were for my birthday and it stuck me that there are no plans and then I got sadder. I will try to not get upset until the day has passed and if no one did anything I will feel justified in feeling hurt. My son, his wife and her daughter live with me and they have not even mentioned my birthday nor inquired if I have plans, I have 3 very good friends and for their birthday their husbands gather us all up for cake and ice cream the evening of the birthday. I have no husband or SO to gather my friends. In the past another dear friend would have me over for dinner the night of my birthday but this year she suggested lunch in a couple of weeks. If things had gone better today I probably wouldn't feel so bad about this but right now it's just making me cry. This is something I can't talk about to anyone I know because it may just sound selfish, but I'm glad you are all there to listen and lend a shoulder. Thank you
Chris in MA0 -
Chris: I am sorry you are sad and don't blame you a bit. I was often guilty of forgetting my mom's birthday when she was alive, and I am sorry now that I didn't realize how much she needed someone to make her feel special. I did lots of things for her at other times of the year, but that particular lack hurt her feelings. I'm sorry your kids aren't better than I was. :flowerforyou:0

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening Ladies,
Chris, a huge CONGRATS on your improved health. It is amazing how eating right and losing some weight can help improve things and if you throw in exercise, wow, the sky’s the limit. Keep up the great work.
Betty, good luck on being able to cut your blood pressure meds soon. Isn’t it wonderful!!
DrKatie, what a score on the clothes!! Good for you and for that energy.
Mia, glad you had a lovely weekend.
Katla, I am sending vibes for an attitude adjustment before DS gets back. Try to look at it from his position: perhaps he was just surprised and disappointed at the condition and need for so much cleaning, without thinking of why or how that happened? (((Hugs)))
NMMargaret, so glad son came home. Hope all works out. ((Hugs))
Mary, you need to talk to your realtor as to how that would work in MN. Good luck!!!
Janetr, glad you are feeling better and I think it’s great you made it to water aerobics considering how you have been feeling.
Sunnyazgirl, welcome. This group is definitely for the over 60 also. That is an astonishing amount of weight since Aug! Wow. Please tell us a bit more about yourself to help us get to know you. Please sign each post with a name you want us to call you. It’s also nice if you add a location, general or specific. You will find us a very supportive group of ladies. Come often.
Heather, congrats on finishing the first draft. I like the title with “memoir of an abused daughter”. That tells the reader what it is about. Glad your friend is still planning to visit. The dress sounds great for Thursday. Hope you have a wonderful time.
Meg, sorry to hear about your A1C and BP. What do you think caused it??? Just your eating??? If that’s it, then I’d say this is your wake up call. You take care of yourself!!
Vicki, wow you work a long day. I’d want to veg on my day off, too.
FBarbie, I guess a hot walk could burn more calories, but then I’ve heard that when you are cold and shiver, that burns calories, so who knows. All I know is good for you for walking when it’s hot and humid!!!
Sylvia, it does sound like you had a wonderful day. Glad you got the sofa in DS’s apartment. Don’t you love bargains like that!!! Kudos for getting all the drafting done. I thought it was going to take a few days. You rock.
Selena, so good to hear from you but so sorry to hear what all has happened after the first tragic event. It sounds like you will still be very busy but try to pop in once in a while just to let us know how it’s going. Food won’t be your top priority but try to eat in moderation so you might be able to maintain some of what you’ve lost. With what has gone on, I think you’ve done great. Know we are behind you. Good luck with the book launch. (((Hugs))) Dumping was not selfish at all. This is a safe place to let it all out.
Sylvia, sorry you even tried to go back to work today. When I started back after my back surgery (wayyyy longer than 2 weeks) I went for ½ days for two weeks. You take care of yourself.
Chris, so sorry things didn’t go in your favor. (((Hugs)))
Tina, I’d love pictures of your dogs from the front sometime. And no I don’t want to see the sad shape any were in when you got them. I can’t stand cruelty to animals!!! We had a pit mix that was absolutely the sweetest, most loving dog we have ever had. Ever since him, I’ve had such a soft spot in my heart for them. Ohhhh, there’s Angle. Thanks.
to any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
We got some rain this afternoon that lasted for a couple of hours. The yards and flowers should all be smiling tomorrow. I had a Moose meeting tonight and did really good with my food……except…..ahhh…..someone brought a homemade peach cobbler. That is only probably my favorite thing in the whole world. So I did have a heaping tablespoon of it. OMG, did I savor that. It put me a little over calories, but was totally worth it. Off to bed now so will say, good night, my friends.
I'm sending best wishes to all of you and I hope each of you has a wonderful day.
Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.
I Love you,

Chris good job taking care of you. I mowed the lawn to relieve some of the stress dealing with my DS today. Exercise helps me too. Continued prayers.

Missing Pip. But I get it, too. *sigh*0

Tina, your park sounds wonderful and your dogs are a great mix of sizes and personalities. The "cow dog" is darling. My older dog gets loud and jumps around when she sees cars, people, bikes, dogs, and anything else that moves which is why I walk the dogs very early in the morning or only in areas where no one else goes in the afternoon. Walks are so much more fun with dogs.
Selena, sending hugs to you for all the tough times you've walked through. You probably already know that stress is less stressful when you're rested and properly nourished. I learned a long time ago to unburden my troubles to someone who "understanding, yet unaffected" which is why the women on this thread are perfect to share with.
Heather, some books I have read that I enjoyed were memoirs written by people whose life experience was something that interested me, so I'm sure your memoir will have an appreciative audience.
Sasha seemed to have pain in her ear and we couldn't see anything so we took her to the vet and found out that she had many pieces of dried grass and foxtails so deep in both ears that they had to be removed with her under sedation. She came home happy to see us and a bit loopy from the sedation.
there are lots of line dance videos available with experienced instructors showing the steps, but none made by me....the technology is not something I'm experienced with.
Barbie from beautiful NW Washington where the Lavender Festival will be this weekend0 -
Did 20 minutes of yoga, held my plank for 2 min 45 seconds, then the extremepump class. I think I'll go to class early, do my abs, because I need to stop and get Loki his medicine on my way home. Then I'll probably go in the pool some and then senior bowling. Ceramics tonight and then mahjongg.
Carey - I'll ask the guy at AC Moore about the crazy/gorilla glue -- will they eat away at the styrofoam? I have absolutely no idea. Still thinking on the trays for the "tiles". One thought was to use the trays I have and just put a piece of styrofoam on the bottom, but the trays aren't big enough. Now I'm thinking about (who was it who gave me the idea?) about using pieces of noodles. We have 2 chairs (so 4 arms) that get hot so we cut a styrofoam noodle to put on top. What happened was that over time the noodle wasn't as tight around the handle. What if I use those and we make 4 new covers? It's really not much at all to make the covers. Just take the noodle and cut it down, no big deal at all. I'll take one of the "covers" off the chairs and put it in the pool to see how it goes. That might work.
Welcome everyone new. Gayle - you joined by posting. Just be sure to bookmark this site and come back often.
Joyce - I don't know if I'd need to put noodles on the bottom of the styrofoam since the styrofoam floats anyway.
mmmn - sky is starting to look dark. After I get out of the extremepump class and pick up Loki's med, maybe I won't be able to go in the pool. We shall see.
Going to be making this short. I finished painting my turtle, now the one gal there is going to do the eyes for me and the lips, then I'll fire it once to be sure it isn't streaky and if not, I'll put a coat of the clear glaze on it. Just found out that Nancie needs to be in Charlotte at 9:30, her surgery is SCHEDULED for 11, so I told her I'd pick her up at 7:30. I'm thinking I'll get there early.
DJ - I'm going to bring some food for me to eat while she's in surgery and some cookies because I'm sure she's going to be starving after the surgery. I don't know if she'll want to go out for lunch, (I wouldn't think so, I would think she'd want to get right home) We need to be in Charlotte at 9:30 which means I'll pick her up at 7:30. Tomorrow her follow-up is scheduled for 11:30.
Went to exercise, picked up Loki's med, came home & there's a problem with our a/c. Vince stayed home since the guy would be here this afternoon. It was something to do with one of the fuses. But it's under warranty, so that's good. Went in the pool, and of course Bryan didn't call -- not that I expected him to. Went to senior bowling, came home, had dinner, off to ceramics where I finished the turtle, then mahjongg, now home.
Chris in MA - yea for less meds. Happy birthday. So sorry things didn't go right for you. So sorry you're sad
Welcome everyone new.

Missed part of my post, so here goes:
Mary from MN - sure hope you can have a bidding war
Carol in GA - One thing I can't seem to get used to is when I go grocery shopping and it's referred to as a "buggy". To me, a buggy is a thing that you push a baby around in
Planning to do a walking tape tomorrow, so I might very well wind up doing that in the afternoon.
Becca - sweet dress. I really like it
Vicki - no, I didn't get to talk to Bryan. Didn't expect that he'd call anyway. Why does he even bother to say that he'll call when he never does?
Sylvia - hope the kids do come back.
Selena so sorry for your dd. What a rollercoaster ride you've had!

Walked partway home - got in 11,935 steps and 3.68 miles. But it left me without time to read here. Tried to upload before & after pix but couldn't get the order I wanted. I'll do it in the next 3 posts.
Wore new size 14 slacks to work and discovered they're about an inch too loose. But I think pants sizes go every 2 inches.0 -
Okay, that time it worked.
I'm not so sure that I shoulda got the hair cut, but not much I can do about it now.0 -
I was wondering about Pip too, do you think she and Kirby decided to ride home from Vegas instead of using the plane ticket? LOL… hope they are fine.
Good first day of camp, the group is 8 girls and 2 boys – this has been the year of campers from abroad – kids spending their summers here - so this week I have 2 from Russia and 1 from Italy, in my last camps I have had china, japan and south korea…. I live in a regular suburban town, and do camp at the city rec department, I am really surprised that there is such a large group of visitors putting their kids in camp.
Gayle - Welcome
My 2 cents on ObamaCare, so I lost my traditional job in 2008 and cobra was paid for 10 days as part of my severance package (yes 10 DAYS- for those out of the usa, cobra is an extension of your company health care plan but you pay) after the 10 days I could not afford it - $900 per month. So I dropped my insurance, I tried a few times to buy it but with a pre-existing condition (a female problem that had been fixed 10 years before) I either could not get it or not afford it. So as soon as it was available I signed up for obama care and have had better care then I ever had on private insurance for an affordable rate. I have had to schedule things, and “wait” for an appointment; if 3-5 days is waiting… I have a number of friends using it also and those that are not organized, don’t follow through, don’t ask questions are the ones having trouble- not that that is true for all!, just my little window into the situation.
Chris – just in case I miss it – Happy early birthday! Hope a plane and come to CA – I’ll scoop you up and make you dinner !!!
Katla – hang in - they were used to the “old” mom and dad that had everything ship shape for them, this is probably a good eye opener for them as well.
Mary – what a headache, but could end up with a little more cash for you!
Sunnyazgirl – welcome, Great job on losing all that weight!!
Heather – I did the googling this time… the Pig on the Beach looks divine! And the menu…drool!!!
Selena – What a rollercoaster! But you seem to be riding it with grace, I read your blog post and it was so right on.
Carol – hmmmm take care!
July Goals:
Walk everyday –try to hit 180 miles 7/11 - 57miles so far
1 plank every day and log here – goal more then 19 - 7
Log everyday –
Eat mindfully-
Weekly fun things –
W1 – Mom is here for the 4th, and we are going out to dinner –her treat!
W2 – a new smart phone, my business paid off, a visit from an out of state friend
Kim from N. California

Heather, with your culinary and writing skills you could write restaurant reviews! Looked at your hotel site. For the prices you are paying I would have stayed in The Lookout. I'm not sure how I would feel about a bathtub in my bedroom. I love my husband but I am not a wonder to behold.
Sylvia I am just so sad and upset that there is no funding for your son to get things he desperately and medically needs like AC in a car. Maybe a TV station could do a human interest story on your son and some personal funding would come in. I taught both my girls how to drive a stick shift, It is the preferred shift for me. If only they could put a remote start on a stick! How is your heart doing with all the heat and you doing that heavy work?
Lisa, are there any big cats on the land? All 3 of my nephews were addicts, alcohol, cocaine and oxy and they would love your quote.
Lenora, the only places I go out and eat pizza are chain restaurants that have web sites and i can get my calorie and nutrition counts. We have a couple of bars here that serve wonderful pizza but I just insist that we don't eat there. Dear Charlie doesn't seem to grasp the fact that I am trying to protect his health also. His ulcerative colitis and heart do not need that kind of food.
DJ, my other daughter would want to see us every day if she lived here in town.
Chris, Pa congrats on losing the blood pressure pill!!! I was able o cut my diabetes pills from 2 to 1, stop my cholesterol medicine and cut one of my bloood pressure pills by half. I am on 4 different blood pressure medicines.
Bett WNY, I was getting dizzy and my doctor decreased my blood pressure medicine. Not getting enough fliuds can also cause that.
Carey, does a salt water pool taste like salt water, Yeah, I know it's sounds kind of silly to ask that. I only walk in the shallow areas at the ocean because I hate the taste of it.
KateiBug, did you just say a Christopher and Banks outlet store!!!!!!! I am drooling right now. Lead me to it!!! I may just have to do an internet search to see where they are and plan a vacation and just not let Charlie know I picked that location because of the outlet. Your selections sound wonderful.
Katla, we all appreciate you. Good luck with all your estate planning
Janetr, my FitBit isn't picking any calories burned when I am on my stationary bike. I have even taken the tracker out and put it in my pocket to see if I don't have the correct leg movement to pick it up. But the way I see it, my body knows I did the exercise and that is what counts.
sunnygirl, welcome and yes, being 62 counts and you are fine here. To all the group, who is the oldest lady here???
Becca, swanky and sexy!!! Can't wait to see you in all your whole outfit.
Selena, Big hugs and you get an excused absence for all that you and your family have endured lately.
Carol, so wish you could stay off work longer.
Chris, I do have a husband and he would care less if I have a birthday, wedding anniversary, Mother's day or whatever. The only thing he is excited about on those days is that we pick a fancier place to eat, of which he will find something to complain about once we eat.
JanetMMcC love the hair cut. It is so youthful. But I can understand your hesitancy to like it. It is such an abrupt chang from what you were. When you look at yourself in the mirror, it is a different person. What is your family saying? My cat sure would love those crocs. She has a nose of where I have hidden mine from her. If they are within reach, she will chew them right up. And she has never had red, only black.
Where is Pip????????????????
This weather we are having is just down right awful. Very humid which drives the heat index way up. Right now at 12:30 in the morning the heat index is about 95. But during the day if I am out with my husband he loves it because with my MS I park in a handicap parking space!!! Now he doesn't like the space for me, it's for the protection of the car. Now for me what he wants to do is to drop me off at the door and then go back and park in the handicap spot. I won't let him do that. There are to many people in the world that need that space and I am really not using that space. He is dropping me off and picking me up at the door. His car 'needs it' and legally with the licence plate it can have it.
Sometimes when I read your lives here, I just sit back and say thanks to my God for the strength and family I have. I am glad that I led a very sheltered life and look at the world through rose colored glasses and am pretty naive about a lot of things.

morning ladies~~
sorry i didnt really check in last night. Steve came to work on the floor and as I drove in from work his wife was dropping his 5 yr old daughter off. so I played grandma for a few hours.. he has to come back tonight and finish it..
well Tom finally told me whats going on..he said he has a dr's appt weds night,he said I didnt tell you because I thought it would go away, but he says he has been having irregular heartbeats for the last month..he he really feels it when he is lying down or not being active.. and he said the last time he went to the dr ,he saw a guy being carted out to an ambulance.. so he I think is freaking out a bit..
In my opinion I don't think it is anything major,I have mitral valve prolapse, and a irregular heartbeat, and i am sure they will give him an ekg at the dr's office..
So no wonder he has been cranky with an underlying condition that he hasn't told me about..
Selena~so sorry that you have been going through so much, my prayers are with you and your family... just take everything a day at a time even an hour at a time .sending you hugs and love
I am working 9-6 today so today will be a busy day0 -
Selena, so sorry about all that you are going through. Feel free to "dump"- it helps and sometimes those close to you are also involved with all that is going on so don't want to hear about it.
Janet. I love the haircut. It makes you look so much younger! The long locks dragged your face down.
Thinking lovingly of all of you!0 -
Pip and Kirby posted a picture on Facebook yesterday---another one about drinking---so I guess they are still there and partying.
Janet, I love your new haircut but based on my experience, the shock of the change will last awhile.

Morning ladies
Im in a much better mood now I have weighed myself. The over eating wasnt as bad as I thought. I could not wait until the end of the month to see how much damage I did. I have gained 1lb. Still plenty of time in the month to lose the original 4lbs-10lbs I plan to lose each month. I really need to get a grip on the over eating days so I stop doing them. Its like I have no apatite most days and then go ballistic for a week where I can not stop eating anything and everything.
Annr love the wriggle dress
Where is Pip? All those drinks finally took effect huh

July 10, 7:49 pm was the last post I could find from Pip. I'm worried! She never goes this long without posting. Does anybody know what's going on? Maybe I missed it.0

@mollywhippet - she's been on vacation - looking like she is having a ball - maybe she can't get good reception where she is. I'm sure we'll heard from her shortly. Guess maybe we should give her a couple or more days until we get worried. I know when I am 'on vacation' I don't post; but, I do try to keep up with my caloric intake. Maybe that is all she is doing.0

@jnkmom - I know I went over and think it showed up at my MD's office - but I also had to remember I had 'just' eaten and besides I was wearing jeans, not my shorts that I wear on my weigh-in day; but, I was sort of bummed anyway. I told him that I had not been able to exercise. I was going to after I got back yesterday; but, the bucket fell out when we went through Americus (next town north of where we live) and thunder, too! So I missed getting in - maybe today I can get back in the pool and work off what 'his' scales said I actually weigh. When I weigh-in at my Medical Weight Loss Plan place - I go at the same time and wear the same outfit.
But, in talking about the pizza - it was 'sooooooooooooo' good and 'soooooooooooooo' worth it. I drank water instead of ordering a beer.0 -

You are so right. As long as our body benefits we are doing well. My FitBit seems to pick up all my movement so far. I'm thrilled with it. My hubby thinks I'm becoming obsessed with weight loss/exercise. I told him that's because he is 6'3" and weighs 167#. He has no clue what it is like to be addicted to food.

@GodMomKim - my son and his wife (and now my DOGD don't have any insurance. DOS and wife have not had any for years. Their ObuzzardCare insurance was going to cost them close to $1000 a month with a deductible of $5000 and THAT after they checked into the plans that offered financial help. The 2 youngest daughters are covered by PeachCare - another way that our lottery system operates in order to help parents who cannot afford the high deductibles. Thankfully they rarely have to use it. Waiting for dentist to check if they pay for braces at the dentist they go to. Madison really does not 'need' them other that to correct a mild overbite; youngest one - too early to tell0
