    Hello to all -

So it's a little late to be posting for July, but will jump in anyway. I've been doing MFP for a few months but am just now getting into the community. Would love to connect with others for support & motivation.

Lots going on in life, so my major goal is to walk in greater peace and grace every day ...

to not let the cares of this world distract me from God's goodness and purpose. That's been especially challenging, but at this time in life we are all pretty good at persevering, right? :~) I have been learning that I'm a big stress eater so this is an important goal!

    Cherry on top would be:
    Deep breathing before each meal.
Change up strength training for variety - maybe look into stronglift 5x5?
Make time to take in clothes so they don't feel so baggy
Start that scrap book for 2014 - it's important to memorialize that I'm still standing after all that!!!

Did an hour of pilates today. The plan for tomorrow is to do some yoga, hold my plank and then take the extremepump class.

Kim - hmmm...your idea of noodles for the "tiles" is an interesting one. Are you talking the kind of noodles that have a slit in them already? Gonna give that some more thought. Guess I need to go in the pool later today since that's where I do my best thinking it seems. (what an excuse to go in the pool!)

I'm pretty sure that I have another plantar wart on the bottom of my left foot. sure feels like it. I do tend to get them. Guess I'll have to call the doc to get it burned out.

I'm supposed to take Nancie to Charlotte for her cataract surgery Tues. She was given a paper that said that they'd call her 2 or 3 days before the surgery to tell her the time. Since she didn't hear from them, she called them yesterday. Seems they can't tell her the time until after 6pm Monday. My suspicion is that since she's on Obamacare, she'll get "squeezed in" where they have an opening. Which means who knows what time they'll take her. Well, I have about 4 magazines with me, my crochet (I need to do 2 more rows, but they are the longest ones, I figure each row will probably take me well over an hour to complete.)

janetr - I'm going to be very interested to know how that waterproof fitBit does. I have a feeling it'll do quite well.

Have a load of laundry in the wash right now

DJ - I totally agree with you, we need to log EVERYTHING -- good and bad. So many times something you think is good really isn't all that good.

Need to call Bryan today, it's his anniversary. It was so hard hugging him at the end of his reception knowing that that was the last time I'd ever see him. And it's turning out that I was right.

Janet in NO - how I wish Vince would let me get my hair cut. See, I always had shorter hair but he was letting his grow. It honestly was getting too long so I made a deal with him saying that if he got his hair cut I'd grow mine long since I know he likes long hair. I was thinking that I'd wear it in a ponytail and he'd never see it so he'd say "oh, just get it cut". Well...that didn't work. It's such a PAIN, I have to constantly take it up in a scrunchy or something, take it down when I'm exercising and laying flat, put it up. What a royal pain in the a**. Congrats on those jeans. If I were you, I'd want to use that waist, too. Really, I don't care for the low rise jeans anyway. Jessica always sends her hair to Locks of Love, I think it needs to be a minimum of 10 inches, but you have enough. I think you're right about the peppers, red is the most ripe

Joyce - whenever we go out, I always get "water no ice". Vince knows this, too, so if he needs to order for me, he knows what to order. lol the green onions

Carol in NC - I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. Yea for being able to shower!

Went to Lowe's Hardware, Vince needed some sort of cable and we looked for another runner for in front of the kitchen sink. The one we've had really has been wearing out and yesterday I must have stepped in a blueberry and gotten it over the runner, so it really doesn't look nice so we looked for another one. Also changed out a propane tank we had that was empty for a full one.

Carey - the guy at AC Moore told me that if the temp gets to be 85 or 90, the hot glue will melt. I'm skeptical of that so I'm going to try it. Well, that's how I'd make the "table" anyway. Going into the pool in a few and going to think on this a bit. I do have that one piece of extra styrofoam. Maybe I can do something with that. I know that It's the right depth. Actually, it should probably be a little deeper. Never knew that holding the # key produces a squealing sound, thanks for the tip. Yes, Vince always tells me to stay on the end and many times they have an "opt-out" button you can press

    Welcome everyone new

Sylvia - how wonderful that you found that walkway. Safe travels

Heather - love the title of your book

Aleta - how wonderful that your work friend is joining MFP. Will she be coming here?

Margaret - my heart is with you. Tough love can be so hard on you

Kim - Loki likes to walk under me when I'm in my plank, guess I'm like a bridge for him. Aren't pets fun?

Lisa - your pics look like something out of National Geographic. What a lovely place you live

Becca - is that all the saddle shoes cost? I would have expected more. They aren't run-of-the-mill sort of thing. Your hubby looks so dashing in his swing outfit

Called Bryan for his anniversary today. He was just getting out of the shower, said he needs to hurry up because happy hour was starting and they were going to celebrate their anniversary. All's I could think of (but didn't say) was "I haven't spoken to you in 4 months, don't you think happy hour can wait a bit so I can talk to you?". He said he was going to call tomorrow, how much do you want to bet that he doesn't?

Rosie - great revelations from your trip

Vince just grilled pork chops for us to have later in the week.

tuliplor - here are some of the things that I take with me when we go somewhere. I'll take a 1/2 turkey sandwich on whole wheat, apples/oranges/any type of fruit really, fruit strips (that don't contain sugar), nuts (preportioned out, they do have the 100 calorie snack bags now), now don't laugh but I also take some of those baby vegetables -- not the pureed ones but the baby "finger foods", hey, they don't need refrigeration and it's a good sized portion not too big. I usually avoid taking laughing cow or Mini Babybel only from the standpoint that they require refrigeration (depends if you have a refrigerator handy and can finish it before you leave), vegetables like baby carrots, I have taken popcorn but haven't in a while (depends if you have a microwave), the small cans of V-8 or individual packages of soy or almond milk, dried edamame (an added plus is that it usually makes you want to drink more water), dried peas, jerky (I usually get the buffalo jerky but I suppose any kind will do), soy crisps (usually you can get a small bag of them). The individual containers of applesauce. I'm trying to think of things that don't require refrigeration. If you have access to a refrigerator while in Philly and can finish it before you leave, you can get those individual portions of cottage cheese or yogurt. If you do have a salad when you're out, remember to ask for the dressing on the side and just dip your fork in it. Also, don't be afraid to ask if you can susbstitute something. Like if somewhere else on the menu they have a zucchini/squash grilled blend, ask if you can substitute that for the fries. As long as the restaurant has the vege, they will usually substitute. You may have to pay a little extra, but it is so worth it

Rosie - I've been thinking of pip too. Wonder how she's doing

Renny - what an up and down you've had lately. So sorry about your mom. Congrats on the new grandbaby. Happy belated birthday to your hubby

Chris in MA - you did real well eating out. Good for you running. I'm always in awe of someone who can run, probably because I don't do it. How wonderful of your friends to take your dietary considerations into mind when they were making their menu! Good friends like that are rare

Becca........Love the pictures. I learned to drive on a huge 49 Chevy.

Tulipor........I've been on Amtrak several times; down the east coast to Fl., Detroit to Chicago, east coast to west coast, and Va. to Philadelphia.........always, always enjoyable. I envy you your trip. and your destination. Will you be anywhere near center city? Fabulous things to do and sooooo much history; I have a cousin who lives on Mt. Vernon St. On food: Nuts, those little mandarin oranges, skinny cow cheese wedges, water, veggie sticks.......on bars, Quest are very good, a little expensive but low sugar high protein, reasonable calories. Get your dressing on the side and dip the salad pieces with a fork. Lean protein and veggies! Remember the waitstaff is there to provide the food YOU want.

Vicki.......Glad your picnic was so much fun. Boy, you work long days!

It's almost midnight and we hope to watch our nephew bowl tomorrow at 7:30am so just a quick check in. While waiting for our food at Pizza Hut i walked around the parking lot. DS was embarrassed but DH didn't say a word. AM practice was good but PM practice required the whole hour to "find his spot "

    Hugs for everyone ! ! !

Heather, You and your cancer friend must have had your minds on the same wave length. As far as her keeping it, maybe you need to build up the excitement of you seeing each other again, call her the week 2 weeks before, 1 week before and a couple of days before. Keep sounding upbeat. make her really want it. Have you talked to your children yet about your memoire? My advice on that is that maybe you really don't need to write this to share it. Right it for yourself to help you get through it all. But you have very good reasons to write it, to share it with the world, to that one person who is struggling and you are giving them the green light to come forward and set boundaries or report something.

Carol, did I read right? You are going back to work tomorrow???? Are you sure you are ready for that? What kind of a job do you do?

Lillian, hope you get your rain soon.

Terri, your husband sure walked into that one!!! Did you put that mirror in front of him? >:)

Michele, can you use pool noodles to put around the bottom edges of your styrafoam? You might be able to fashion the noodles into the board pieces also. You would have to cut a V shape out of the noodle. You might be able to use PVC piping on the underneath side of your styrafoam also.

Carey, with the telemarketers, my Mom being a preacher's wife, was known to kindof use the opportunity to 'oreach to them. They can't hang up on her and every time she was given an opening to speak she would bring up their spiritual life and read them Bible verses.

Thanks for the info Lisa. It's wonderful that a private citizen can preserve some of our wonderful beautiful land the way it was intended to be. You are one lucky couple.

Becca, sounds like you read the Parade magazine in todays Sunday paper. They had an article on adult coloring books and even talked about gardens. They also had a link Parademagazine.com/coloring for a couple of free print outs.

Peach, I just hate it when I get that Poof and my post is gone. Sorry it had to happen.

Renny, what a wonderful description of you travel through time by way of all your photo albums.

Tuliplor, fresh fruits and veggies, a small jar of peanut butter that you can put on celery sticks. I don't know what the facilities are like where you are staying but some eggs to boil, individual fruit cups. Make sure they are in natural juice and not syrup. Whatever you do, do not travel with a box of Wheat thins, open right at your hand so no one can see it dipping down in it every so many minutes!

Lenora, whenever I get a hankering for pizza or husband really think we need to get pizza, I get an individual size thin crust cheese with veggies. Husband complains about how expensive it is to do that but it was his idea to go to that place or him really wanting the pizza. One time I was really stressed over someting and we went out and got a large sausage and onion with extra sauce. And yes, I did eat half of it right there, didn't take any home.

Penny, so glad you are having fun. Good friends that think of a persons diet are gems!

DJ, we need to get Barbie to get a video of her teaching her line dance classes and put in on U tube so we can all learn it.

Chris in Pa, it is never to late to start in July! I see you have already lost a lot of weight. What are you doing to accomplish that?

i have a story about tough love. I can't even remember what it was all about but it really alienated Michelle and I even further than we already were. I did not follow through with it and let her come home. It was a hard time. She tried really hard to just ignore us here at home but I guess our love and acceptance of her won her over. Now it is mentioned but never in depth to see what made her to be closer to us. We have a wonderful relationship now. Now Charlie would like her to see us more often now. But she works evenings and is a night owl so she stays up until about 3 or 4 AM. On her weekends, she has her boyfriend, upkeep on her house and car, taking her furbabies to the dog park, so she is busy. Charlie gets his panties in an uproar if she doesn't have dinner with us every weekend. I know that his 'quirks' really are difficult for her to take and I take whatever time she will give us and treasure those moments. But if I need some one to go shopping with me she is the first person I will call. She loves to dress me!!! She also knows that Dad does not come along on our shopping trips. But my brothers have had to do tough love with their sons and in the end everything works out and as the child matures they learn that parents are OK people and most of the time do know what they are doing.

Sometimes when I read here I have to remind myself that this is a forum for women over 50! What you all do in your exercise is phenominal. I also have come to realize that DJ loves to give swift kicks!!!! :/

Last night i slept terrible, my poor sleep pattern on my FitBit is terrble but it's wonderful what a good shower will do to wake you up so you can get to church. But I did and am proud of how I have grown in that matter. My parents smiled at me today from heaven.

Joyce - well done for getting to church. :flowerforyou: I am still amazed at how good a bit of self discipline makes me feel. It really helps our self esteem and thus our whole approach to life and even our relationships with others.

Talking of self esteem, I had a reply to a restaurant review I wrote back in May. The management want me to email them so they can arrange to have a chat with me about my less than wonderful experience. It's taken them long enough, but it's good to know that someone is taking my comments seriously. Interesting!

Got some curry left for tonight, which we will have with roasted cauliflower. That leaves time to go out this afternoon to look for purple sprouting broccoli plants and to exchange our cylinder from the soda stream. This year has been extremely lacking in butterflies, which is sad, but gives me the chance to grow the brassicas again. Two years ago there were clouds of cabbage white butterflies and masses of caterpillars so I resolved not to try the broccoli again. I have hardly seen any butterflies this year of any kind, apart from meadow browns. Most years I miss the window for broccoli seedlings, so I will go on the hunt now.

    Love Heather UK

Got to recopy my ticker

Going to put it down to feeling depressed and the weather. I didnt feel good last week and ate to compensate it. Back to working at my diet.

It's 7 am and I have to wait till 8 to go pick up the dogs. I REALLY, REALLY miss my dogs!

I got to see the kids last night. My son took the kids to Walmart and had a health issue (ran out of oxygen) so he called me and we went up to get him and the kids from Walmart in the van. His car has no A/C so it makes his breathing problems a lot worse. So I asked if he wanted me to drive his car home for him. The kids all said, Grandma, you can't drive his car, it's a stick shift. I said, who do you think taught your dad to drive a stick shift? My son pointed at me and the kids were very surprised. Apparently nobody they know can drive it except their dad. Anyway, we got them all home and he got on his oxygen generator machine. We had just pulled into the garage and were unloading when he called. So that was lucky.

Today we pick up the dogs and bring them home, then I take the kids to swim lessons, then the guy with the sofa is delivering it to the apartment at 11:00. Then I have a HUGE mountain of drafting to do, which will take several days to finish.

Gotta run! Hava a great day!

Morning/afternoon/evening all... Welcome to those who are new, we're glad you're here, and if you've posted, you've joined!

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures--to correct a couple possible misconceptions, we don't see the elk/deer/bunnies, etc. on walks, we had to drive for nearly an hour across the ranch. There is one deer family that hangs out near the headquarters, where we live, but the elk are scattered all across the ranch. The ranch is 30 miles wide by 60 miles long (about 48x96 kilometers) at its widest points and max speed on the caliche roads is about 30 mph (48 kph). Big doesn't even cover it...

The other is that the ranch is this beautiful all the time--it is not. This is the upper edge of the High Chihuahuan Desert, and the greening of all this is an anomaly--it is usually sunblasted, 100+ degrees and dust devils whistling down the canyons by mid-July. All that rain in the Midwest that flooded Dallas and Houston earlier just turned this place into paradise. For a little while. We're enjoying every minute of it.

A young friend solicited my advice on how to lose weight and get fit, so I turned her on to MFP, and she ran in the 5K along with me, and she was going along gangbusters for a month... and now has disappeared. I'm neither disappointed in her nor going to bust her chops. This isn't easy, and it isn't cheap in terms of the time and attention paid. I just don't want to lose a friend because I'm still here and she isn't. *sigh* Supposed to see her Tuesday night at Writer's Workshop, and hopefully she's over it... or there's a better reason for her quitting than I'm assuming. How do you explain to someone 30 years younger than you that it's OK? And that the reason a 55-year-old lady is doing better than you is because she's walked this path for 40 years...and knows how bad 300 pounds of flesh is going to hurt.

Back to the egg metaphor, "Just because you break one egg doesn't mean you throw the rest of the dozen on the floor and break them too." Just because you break a promise to yourself, it doesn't mean you've ruined your entire path. Just because you break your diet doesn't mean you have to break everything... grab another egg, people!

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Morning Ladies,

    Chris in PA
, welcome. It’s never too late to join in and there is no time like right now. This is a great place for support and information. Come often and share when you want.

Michele, what a bummer that you won’t even know what time Nancie’s surgery is until tonight! You know, you rarely hear of any problems with Obamacare but I have a hard time believing it’s all running smoothly. Glad you have projects for while you are waiting.

Yannie, you made a good point that many people seem to forget; that is that the wait staff in restaurants is there for us. It’s simple to ask can they broil or bake a protein, can they steam veggies or to serve any sauce or dressing on the side. Few of us want to eat a salad every time we go out, but there are foods we can eat and enjoy while staying within calorie limits.

Tina, is the black and white cow dog a Pit? What beautiful colorings! Who was headed for bed? You or the doggies?

Terri, sending good thoughts for your bowler. Have a great day.

Gayle, welcome. This is a great place for support and information. You said you had not been heavy all your life, but I’m curious as to how long it has been? Many of us just slowly got FAT over the years. Some decided to do something about it earlier than others of us. I actually figured I’d be fat the rest of my life and am so excited to tell you that this thing works. It’s not always easy but the rewards are so worth it. Come often and join in when you want. You can do this.

Joyce, I just read your post and realized that I too read that Carol said she was going back to work. What’s up with that? What a great idea for Barbie to do a line dancing video to share with all of us. smiley-laughing018.gif I’m glad Michelle is closer to you now. It’s hard for us as parents to realize that our children as adults have their own lives and things to do that don’t include us. I do think that sometime the more space we give the more they want to be involved with us. It just seems in my case, it’s at her convenience and not necessarily when we would like. Joyce, I didn’t know you were going to tell all our friends what a Masochist I am. Yes I love giving swift kicks, but only when they are requested. And it’s just cause I love you all.

Heather, cool that you heard from the restaurant. Be sure to let us know the outcome.

Kate, sorry that you ate everything in sight last week. The good thing is that if you gained anything, those are pounds that I find more easily lost. I think maybe they haven’t had time to get a firm hold or something. No swift kicks for now, just hang in there and stick to the right track.

Sylvia, glad you made it home safely and were able to help your DS. It is strange how much we miss our dogs when we are gone. I hope you don’t have to work too hard to get caught up, but glad you had a nice get away.

welcome.gif to any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.

I hope each of you has a wonderful day. rose.gif

    Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
    and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.
    I Love you, smiley-love013.gif

Thought I'd drop in while I had a moment.
Janet in NO...big, big congratulations for size 14. It feels wonderful to fit into smaller pants. I hope this encourages you to continue.
Lisa...loved the pics. It's so nice to see the places where all of you live because it is such a diverse group.
Michele...regarding the waterproof fitbit...I have one and wear it on my ankle because I feel it gives more accurate than arm swinging. I had it on yesterday when I went to the beach and recorded all my "ocean walking".
DJ...the threat of your swift kicks have gotten me to run. Thanks!

A couple of weeks ago my doctor cut my blood pressure meds in 1/2. I am hoping to get off them completely. She said to wait a couple of weeks before checking my blood pressure to see if it remains normal and then monitor it regularly until my next visit. I am thrilled to report that my first reading was a bit lower than when I was on the full dose!!

I will be 59 on Wednesday and am healthier and fitter than I was 20 years ago. Yes Ladies, this really does work!
    Everyone have a great day!

Lisa love this quote. I needed to hear something like this right now. You are referencing diet. Any habit that is not serving you could fill that blank too. My son is breaking a few eggs right now. I would like to see him quit throwing them and start cleaning up the mess. It gives me hope that he can find his way through, and he finds the right path for himself. Thank you. We are still waiting to hear his side of the story.

Gayle good to have you. I live across the river from you in Saint Paul. Hope you were not too badly affected by the storms last night.

Sylvia hope everything is going smoothly with repairs from the accident.

Heather love your symbol of a window as a way of looking at the layers of people. Still reading it. I am looking forward to your next book, A Very Nice Man.

Michele, I am sorry you had the experience you did about talking to Brian -- but amazed at your willpower in restraining your opinion!!! I get to where the tear ducts go to overtime minutes.
Janet in NOLA--where can I send my rocks? Here in WNY where I live, there is great soil in between the rocks. Maybe I can get some income when I retire by sending them down south LOL.
Chris in MA, great news on the blood pressure. Hoping to be in that place soon. Did you start to feel dizzy upon standing up? Doc says that is one way of knowing you can go off them and that is happening to me a lot lately.
Went on a garden tour yesterday and did no other exercise except some gardening and was happy to discover that even lesiurely walking, if you do it for more than a couple of hours, uses up calories on MFP. Probably still went up on the scale because...weekends, but back on track today I hope.
Weather has been so nice this summer that I am forgetting that when I retire in a few years I don't want to shovel any more snow. Took the living room blinds in to see if they could be salvaged from our March ice dam problem. Had this great idea of being a snowbird, but so many of those people up here had such bad winter damage that it will take months to get their places mold-free enough for human habitation.

Betty...I didn't feel any different before I cut down on the blood pressure meds, nor do I feel any different now. I hope you are there soon! Keep us posted.

Michele: Good for you for keeping the line of communication open with Bryan. Even if he doesn't call you today he still knows that you are thinking about him and that you care.

Renny:I'm trying to do a better job of taking pictures and kicking my butt that I don't have more of when my kids were growing up. Thanks for reminding me of the value in making the effort.

Chris MA: Congrats on the blood pressure. This is definitely working for my activity and fitness levels. The jury is out on the actual weight loss though. Trying to be patient and positive and be being thankful for the things that are getting better.

Finally got some rain yesterday! We still need a lot more. More rain is in the forecast for the next few days. Lillian:Did you get any rain in SK?

Went swimming yesterday with both my boys and DIL to be and tried out Edmonton's newest pool. The first time I've ever been there as it is on the other side of the city. It is a salt water pool which is great for me since I'm allergic to chlorine (break out in huge hives). I didn't have any issues with the salt water except that my sterling silver rings got really dull. I tried jewelry cleaner but that didn't help to restore the shine or if it did not very much. I would go a lot more often if there was a pool near me with salt water. Unfortunately the ones with salt water are all a long ways away.

Good morning! I love Monday mornings. There's something about the opportunity to start afresh that is uplifting.

I got up early and walked with DH before church yesterday, so was feeling restless yesterday afternoon. I've had so much more energy in the last few days. It is amazing. I hope it lasts. Anyway, I went to the outlet mall to get in a few more steps and browse. I was looking for a good buy on a summer purse or tote but nothing was catching my eye. Then, I discovered a Christopher & Banks outlet - totally new. Talk about excited! I love their three-quarter sleeve tees. I got a light pink one, a dark pink with white polka dots, a black one, a pink vest on super clearance, some grey capris, and a whole outfit of these wild pants in black, taupe, white and coral, with a black tank and a coral summer sweater. They look good with the plain black tee, too, and feel like you're wearing your pjs. It's the perfect outfit for my upcoming conferences since the rooms tend to be freezing.

I made it to page 29 on Friday. Now I find we are on page 35. I’ll try to catch up here slowly.

Reading about plants with longevity reminded me of a friend who has a Christmas cactus her great grandmother started. This plant is over 100 years old! I always feel a little pang of envy when I visit her and see it. Partially because I have a brown thumb and inevitably kill my indoor plants and partially because I think it would be so awesome to have a family heirloom of this nature.

Well, I had a lovely weekend. I worked out on Sat morning. Came home, changed clothes and went to a Red Hat wine tasting lunch. Came home, changed again and went to a high school graduation celebration. Came home and told DH the only thing I was changing into was my pjs. Sunday I finally got back into the glass studio and spent a fabulous 6 hours creating. Ahhhh. Bliss.

As a result of so much business I forgot to login and lost my logging streak. I was feeling a bit pouty and sad about that, but several of my MFP friends have pointed out this is an opportunity to start over again. They are right. It is not the end of the world. I set a new record for my longest logging streak and now have an opportunity to break that record.

Unfortunately, with no logging, I have also managed to spend a weekend grazing on high calorie snacks. Sigh. Why is it so easy to fall back into old behaviors? Well, the good news is that indulging in old behaviors didn’t feel very good. Some of the food just didn’t taste as good as the healthier versions I’ve grown accustomed to and some actually made me queasy. More lessons learned. Now to forgive myself and move forward.

I made a note of the 2 online groups I participate in (this one and a FB group) for both my husband and for a dear friend who is my secondary medical power of attorney so that if anything happens to me my on-line friends will know I didn’t just abandon the group.

    July goal:
Continue to honestly log food every day
Continue to meet PT one day a week for strength training
Start one hour a week of aerobic exercise
Stop Iced tea overload. 24 oz. iced tea daily plus 40 oz. water
Word of the month – gratitude

Heather: I just read Margaret's title suggestion of a A Very Nice Man in Wolve's Clothing. It is worthy of consideration. It occurred to me that something about the title should give the reader a clue about the evil within the very nice man, other wise the book could be bought by sweet, clueless people who are sandbagged by its contents. That could hurt reviews and sales. :flowerforyou:

Margaret: Sending prayers for your son's situation.

Tina in MD: Great photo. I'd like to walk there, too. Lovely. It looks as though I'm not the only one who likes it.

    1776: Welcome. :flowerforyou:

DS & DDIL were here this weekend getting our sailboat ready for their vacation. They took our stuff off, stacked it in our garage, and broke our beloved coffee pot in the process. :ohwell: They cleaned the d*ckens out of it and now our garage is full of our stuff, which we will put back on the boat after they get back. I had some frustrated moments but kept them to myself. DH was evidently having some moments, too. He just mentioned them to me. We had a horrid year last year with DH's health and some things slipped onto the back burner. The boat was among them. It is/was dirty and I'll admit that. This month we've put a lot of money into service and repair so that it would be seaworthy enough for their trip. I guess I'm not feeling the appreciation I think we should be receiving. They'll be back in a couple of days and I hope my attitude improves by then. It really needs improvement. :flowerforyou:

    July Goals:
    1. Log every bite and swallow.
    2. Cardio exercise at least 3 days a week. Work on flexibility and back strength.
    3. Have fun every day.
    4. Drink at least three glasses of water daily, preferably more!
    5. Eliminate alcohol.
    6. Monitor sleep. Try to average 7 or more hours of sleep nightly.

Just fluttering by to say hello and mark my place. Work still has me overloaded like crazy, but it should all be back to normal in another week.

Thank you so much for your support. DS did come home which is a step in the right direction. He will not tell us what happened. We had not heard from him since Wednesday. He is sitting in my garden. Thank you for surrounding our family with your healing prayers. I am praying my garden gives him a place to start finding peace for his soul. I made it clear I am disappointed in the choices he made. Taking responsibility for his choices needs to come from him. I need to remember the anger he is displaying is he as much at himself as it is at us. We are safe targets because we will love him no matter what. Pray for me to not rush in to try and to fix the problem. Growing up is never easy to do no matter what the age.

The in wolves clothing comes from the arc type of Little Red Riding Hood. She believes the wolf to be her grandmother when he is lurking inside to do her harm. The woodsman comes to slay the wolf. Every child needs a woodsman to help protect her. Unfortunately not every child has that woodsman. In time the child needs to become the woodsman for themselves, so they can go back to slay wolf. You have done this Heather that is why it is so important that you tell your story. I know I said it once. I want to say it again I am proud of you.

Katla hope things improve with the boat. Hopefully they will bring it back clean seeing as you are nice enough to lend it to them.

Good morning ladies! New development in the sale of our house. Roof needs to be replaced before we sell if we go With the current offer that has FHA financing. Another buyer is putting a cash offer in today. Then the FHA buyer now has a investor that would buy it for him and sell it back to him. Now what I want to know is does the FHA guy have to cancel our contract first. Then we could have a bidding war????

    Have a great day everyone!

My new waterproof Fitbit Flex worked great at water aerobics class this morning. I was very impressed. I only made it to 9,763 steps yesterday, but am well over 5,000 already this morning and will ride the stationary bike this afternoon so will make a concentrated effort to reach 10,000 today. My head is still full and buzzing but all in all I am feeling better. I know I didn't give 100% effort at water aerobics this morning but was happy I went. Stopped by the grocery store on the way home.

Hi, everyone! Happy Monday! According to DD the wedding she attended was very nice; a very small one, maybe 25 people, almost entirely relatives of either the bride or groom. It was held at a historic (1888) mansion. The bride's father married them and her mother gave her away. Sounds lovely but she didn't take enough pics; and none of her with her friend, the bride!!! What was she thinking?

Rain all around us but none here, as usual.

Michele........My fingers are crossed that Bryan calls you today. I'm afraid I would have gone ahead and said what you were thinking.

Mary......No idea how property sales work, but best of luck to you!!!

Margaret.........How can your beautiful garden not heal and help him find peace??? ((((Hugs))))))

Tina........I want to join you on that walk.

    terri........Good luck to your son!

Heather........YAY for finally hearing from the receivers of the bad review; now, go educate them!!!

Kate.........Wishes for a better week for you and everyone else who needs them.

Sylvia........Alarming experience for your son; glad you were able to be there for him. YAY for all of us who can drive "sticks"!!!!

Lisa.........I'm confident you will find the right words when the time comes.

    Welcome newbies, come back often!

Carey........Don't think I've ever been in a salt water pool, unless you count the ocean, LOL.

    Mia........What a thoughtful idea!!!!

Katla.........I'm so sorry your hard work is not being appreciated.....(((((((Hugs)))))))).
