Chicken Broccoli diet???

Doing it for 2 weeks isn't going to kill you. You'll definitely lose some weight but probably won't keep it off once the 2 weeks are up.
Goodluck eating only chicken and broccoli for 2 weeks.
To put it into perspective you would need to eat roughly 7 lbs of broccoli a day to get 1200 calories or 2 lbs of baked chicken a day to get 1200 calories.
So in total if you're caloric requirement is conservatively 1200 calories - you would need to eat 3.5 lbs of broccoli and 1 lbs of chicken every single day.
If you're caloric requirement is 2000 calories ( like mine) then you're in for 2 weeks of torture LOL

Eeww!
SEE! Already, you're able to consume less food. I told you it works!
If you get bored of shakes you can always freeze it to make yourself a delicious new flavour of ice cream:
I'd call it "double broc-chick-chunk surprise" the surprise is more broccoli.

You can google anything and it's there

My partner hasn't tried the chicken-broccoli only method, but eats a lot of it by choice. If you want nasty farts that can kill small animals and stun children, go for it!0

The point of this diet is to get rid of all carbs. So it's basically an Atkins diet- it works as it causes u to go into ketosis, which means that ur body breaks down fat stores to function. Supposedly u lose weight even quicker
Sounds perfect: but the first time u go into ketosis u get flu like symptoms. Like a killer headache.
Do at ur own risk0 -

So you lose a lot of water weight as you deplete your glycogen stores
Which come back the second you resort to a somewhat normal diet
Damn...if you're gonna do keto, do keto properly and make it a lifestyle decision...don't just play with your water weight to watch a scale weight drop and assume that has a relevance to your body fat %0 -

Low fat is not good for ketosis.0 -
Will it hurt you to do it for 10 days? Mostly likely not. Is it a reasonable and balanced diet? Absolutely not. Optimal? Not in my opinion. Personally, even though there's not much diet-wise you can do for only 10 days that's dangerous, I find the mindset that goes with those type of diets a hindrance to long-term success.
I'm no fan of so-called "clean eating" but it could be done a lot better. Get loads of fresh veggies in a variety of colors, a couple of kinds of meat/dairy, and some fats like avocado and nuts. Start learning how to provide your body with good nutrition and an appropriate number of calories, because those are the skills that will help you be successful long term.0 -

Broccoli Chicken?
Actually broccoli and chicken sounds great for dinner tomorrow night but I like variety so not sure I could do any meal night after night. Some of these diets that come up are so odd..

Make sure you have plenty of toilet paper, the soft kind and you are always close to a bathroom, if you go out maybe bring some extra clothing just in case.
Good luck.0 -
Sounds unbalanced and boring.0

If there's a timeline attached to a proposed "diet" that is anything less than 'until you die', you should probably not do it.0

....but don't vegetables like broccoli contain carbs?? It may not be many, but still....0 -

I agree with this.
Also - it sounds really gassy.0 -

Especially since you do it for 10-14 days and then stop? So you'd be in ketosis just long enough to get rid of the keto flu and then cycle out. Seems like that's a whole lot of misery for no reason. Either go into ketosis and stay there, or don't cut that low. Cycling in and out sounds horrible.0 -
pmm3437 wrote:that diet would leave you calcium and iron deficient, and probably without enough fat for normal hormonal production/support.
And for only 2 weeks, it's probably not going to do a major amount of damage (other than the aforementioned
gastrointestinal emissions).
But _why_ would you subject yourself to that???
The only benefit I see is that you'd be so bored & "I've had too much of this already!" that you'd be eating less.
I think it's more fun to do that with a variety of food.
Typical serving size for broccoli is half a cup, which contains 2% RDA of Calcium,1% RDA Iron, and 1.2g Protein.
Typical serving size for chicken is 2 oz., and provides about 7% RDA of Calcium, 4% RDA Iron, and 10g Protein.
If you ate 2 servings of broccoli for every serving of chicken, you would have to eat 9 "meals" a day to reach your Calcium requirements, and you would still get only ~ half your RDA of Iron.
Other nutrients macros/micros in that situation include:
~ 112g Protein
~ 30g Carbs
~ 56g Fat
~ 9g of Fiber
no B-12, D, or Magnesium
low A and B-6
~ 200% RDA of Sodium
~ 1100 total gross calories.
Depending on preparation, some if not most of that fat will not be consumed, and you risk dropping below the 25-30g minimum recommendation.
A meal plan strictly of chicken and broccoli would require significant supplementation to approach a balanced nutrition profile. A meal plan featuring chicken and broccoli, but including significant other sources of nutrition is just that, a plan restricting your protein options to chicken. It has no special benefit over a similar plan making use of a variety of animal protein sources, when designed appropriately and eaten in moderation ( CICO ).0 -
Red flag: if the best general comment is that is shouldn't hurt you, the benefits (what you are after all presumably looking for) are probably dubious. A varied diet helps curb boredom and most importantly provides nutritional diversity. Without knowing your goals and specific details, any advice regarding your diet is borderline irresponsible.0

Try it, see how you feel on it, see what results you get. It's only two weeks. Nothing bad will happen. It's not dangerous. But for the record I think it's a terrible, restrictive, pointless exercise. Similar results could be achieved eating what you want, including chicken and Broccoli if you insist upon it.0

The benefit (if one wants to call it that) is probably that it becomes a VLCD, as how much chicken and broccoli can one stand eating day after day. (I love both and eat both a lot, but not on their own.) So for 10 days you probably drop a few lbs of fat and of course additional water weight. (Obviously promoting VLCD is against the rules at MFP, though.)
But the problem is you feel deprived which likely makes it tough when you have a normal diet again not to overeat.
People tend to eat less the more limited their diets are (at least so long as they stick to it), but to me that's not worth it. I will stick to a weight loss plan if I enjoy it, and something too limited is not enjoyable--there's too much other great food, including lots of lean meat and vegetable combinations other than chicken and broccoli, plus delicious fats and carbs (other than broccoli).0 -
fad diet, don't torture yourself.0

All I know is I ain't sharing a bed with anyone whose diet is half broccoli. You may want to run it by your significant other, if you have one.0

Sounds awful. I wouldn't even consider it.0

I've done similar diets, like the broccoli and tomato diet many years ago, and the tuna and green beans diet. First couple days were ok, but by the time I finished I was very much anti-broccoli (and anti-green beans) and anti-chicken (and anti-tuna), and the weight I lost came back on pretty quick when I returned to my regular eating patterns. Never again for me.0

What if you want steak or fish and cauiflower or spinach?! No go?0
-
I make chicken and broccoli a part of my meals, but to ONLY eat that for two weeks, I would be sick and angry by the end of 4 days...I wouldn't advise it.0
-
@hyacinthcindy1213 It's not a good idea but what is a good idea is to start logging all of the food you eat as accurately and honestly as possible. Do that for 14 days and you'll be well on your way to losing lots of weight.0

Can it be hot wings and broccoli and cheddar soup? Those are my two favorites of each.0
-
I eat a lot of chicken and broccoli...but I couldn't only eat chicken and broccoli.
whatever happened to the notion of just eating a well balanced, nutritious diet?0 -
Is this chinese chicken & broccoli??
