Your average man loses faster than your average woman.

    No, they don't.

I think it's unfair that my fat deposits on my lower half, and in order to lose that fat I end up looking skeletal and ill on the top half. Stupid genetics. *shakes fist*

That's how I am, too. It really sucks. If someone sees a picture of just my upper half, they tell me that I don't need to lose any weight and that I'm skinny. My collar bones are very prominent, but my legs still jiggle. Grr lol. All the women in my family are definitely bottom heavy.

You mean there is two of us? I thought it was just me!

    That's unfair...now I am not a special snowflake. ;)

OP, if you start thinking about all the things that you think are unfair about this process, you're already well in your way to derailing yourself. Focus on your own journey, don't worry about anyone else's.

Look at it this way OP...they lose their hair faster than most of us women.

    Life is a tradeoff.

if you have a man and a woman and they are both on a 500 calorie deficit they should both lose approximately the same amount of weight….so not really sure where you are going with this OP….

woman do naturally cary more body fat, but that has nothing to do with rate of loss.

Eh. I stopped caring about the fairness of genetically assigned attributes when I started caring about reality.

Ya know what's not fair? That no more than 30mi away there's some poor kid going to bed without dinner while I sit here trying not to eat all of mine, and *thats* a problem I can actually do something about.

I think it's unfair that I have to work around free food all day and expect myself to always be able to say "no" to those donuts.

I think it's unfair that I don't get free donuts.

The universe has wronged me by giving me the screamers after just one cup of coffee. The rest of the world seems to be good on half a pot or more. I demand satisfaction!

    You save on coffee. Win.

I don't think about other people much. I'm losing at my own rate and it isn't a race.
All people have to watch their calories if they want to lose weight.

OKAY WHO ELSE THINKS IT'S UNFAIR THAT GUYS LOSE WEIGHT SO MUCH FASTER AND EASIER THAN WOMEN!?!?

    Im flipping over this ^

I'm not sure they do, but it can feel that way sometimes. But then I have to remember that barring any medical conditions most women who are larger and taller than me also generally lose weight faster and seemingly easier than me, a woman. Anyone bigger than I am, male or female, generally can.
And they will feel the pain of a 500 calorie deficit just as much as I will. And if we're both eating 1500 calories/day, that's going to hurt them more and make them feel a lot worse than it will me for the simple fact that being larger than I am they need more calories to function than I do.

But yeah, it would indeed be awesome if I could have the same calorie requirements as a 6'4" 220lb male of the same age, and suffer no consequences to my physique for it. But it would hardly be "fair."

Ok sorry but pear shape is WAY better than cone shape... men see a pear shaped woman and like the wider hip look... men see a cone shaped woman (little fat on legs and butt with lots of fat on trunk, back rolls, and big arms with broad shoulders) and think linebacker .... so no shaking fist at God, instead high five lol

We don't lose weight faster. We just burn more calories in general.

SO if men burn more calories in general, and have a lower body fat percent naturally then women.... why is it a women the same height as a man is expected to weight less??? Is is more natural muscle mass? Because that would also explain burning more calories in general.....

Because a lower body fat percentage at the same weight means more muscle mass at the same weigh which means a couple hundred more calories burned per day (more for larger people, less for smaller).

True, men have the test to build muscle and mass, which raises Base Metabolic Rate, which burns more calories than fat does. Women typically retain fat for feeding newborns. Hormones and all

    Rant and let it out

Then we all get back to work with our own challenges.

I work out with women quite often

It does seem they have a very small calorie burning calorie machine if they have much less muscle mass

As men we may be able to burn fat quicker

But we will never be as pretty!

It is so unfair that you can eat more of this sugar grain than I can without gaining weight, said the ant to the fly.

Seriously.. we need to start thinking this one through because when you do, you can clearly see that there is no one at an advantage and someone else at a disadvantage when it comes to weight gain and loss.

We all have a certain engine capacity. Your hunger is dictated by your engine capacity. Your engine capacity determines how satisfied you will be or not be by a certain portion size.

1 year old babies can't eat a 300g lasagne and don't feel sorry for themselves because they can't. They would be full at 50g, whereas the giant weight lifter will still feel hunger after eating all of it.

We all get the same ratio for hunger discomfort, it is just proportional!

    Think it through. Seriously.

I don't care that you got flagged for this, and if I get flagged for quoting and agreeing, but I was trying to think of something along these lines. I 100% agree with this statement.

It doesn't. That's why height is part of the equation.

Right... and people are two-dimensional... you don't math, do you?
