Eating enough?

My daily calorie goal is 1530. Many times before dinner I have 700-800 calories left. I eat dinner, but don't feel hungry beforehand. Anybody else experience this?

    Yes, I've faced days where I have lots left over and no appetite. It's especially easy if you eat a lot of fruits and veggies.

    Do you eat breakfast? Breakfast cereals are an easy, not-to-filling way to increase calories and some have good amounts of iron and fiber. A lot of people who have trouble meeting calories are skipping breakfast.

    Juice is another really easy way to increase calories without feeling stuffed.

    I don't fret over one day over or under, but if it's a regular thing, try to get some more calories in. You'll want to cut back later, so you want something there to cut, KWIM?

    I generally try for 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 leaving room for snack fruits or nuts. Lately though I'm not really hungry at all, I eat anyway.

    Hey! I used to teach an intro level nutrition class at the university level so here is some input from the science side! When considering basic food chemistry, fat macromolecules have 2.25 times the calories/gram of carbs and proteins. This means that if you eat foods with higher fat content, than you can actually eat MORE CALORIES while consuming LESS FOOD. That said, be careful that you are eating "good" fats such as those from nuts, olive oil, avacado, cottage cheese, eggs, fish, etc., etc. and avoiding "bad" fats such as those from junk food.

    Also, I would like to add that you should not be afraid of fats in food! I say this because most people are unaware that popular low fat diets are actually a product of the partnership between legislation and business and have no basis in nutrition (I swear this is not a conspiracy theory, haha!). Diets that are high in good fats, moderate in protein and low in carbs are EMPIRICALLY SUPPORTED to PROMOTE BETTER HEALTH.

    Yes indeed! What pterry is describing is called the ketogenic diet. Has been shown to reverse type 2 diabetes, alzheimers as well as help prevent cancer ( which thrives on glucose).

    If you haven't seen a doctor yet, be sure to do that. All weight loss journeys should be overseen by a doctor. They can figure out if there is something physical causing the lack of appetite.

    If you're sure it's not physical, juice! It's healthy and it has bunches of calories. That POM juice is so very yummy, if you like pomegranates. :)

    Try to introduce more calorie dense foods. Nut butters, nuts, avocados etc.
