    I think we're all aware we could feasibly raise chickens and it would be a moot point but would you have that same logic if beef and turkey prices were rising too?

    I am just trying to not rely heavily on egg protein as a result of increasing prices. <period.

    Because in order to sell eggs in California, egg-laying chickens are now "legally entitled to at least 116 square inches of floor space" - almost double the industry standard in the US.

    ...Proposition 2, as it's called, required eggs in California to come from chickens that have enough room to fully extend their limbs and turn around freely.     Ya, I heard about lots of restrictive HOAs when I lived in South Florida. I'm back in Massachusetts now, in a semi-rural area, and many towns in my county have passed Right to Farm bylaws, which suits me a lot better.

    Wow, that is a big increase. What state do you live in?... or should I ask what part of the U.S (if in US) do you live in?

    I either get my eggs from Costco or from a lady in our neighborhood when she has too many. I haven't noticed any kind of crazy price increase at Costco.

    Our prices have been higher here due to shortages cause by Avian Flu. I hope it's a transient thing. I have hard a hard time getting my egg whites from Costco.

    We get free-range eggs from a nearby farm once a week and their prices haven't gone up at all.

    I live in a very farm heavy area that has a lot of chicken farms and the city has denied a petition for backyard chickens. I'd love to have a small coop, but they're afraid of avian flu spreading g to the farms. In vancouver about an hour awY they're allowed backyard chickens...must be nice to have chickens in the city while we can't in the country hahha

    Two of the back yard egg farmers from whom I get my eggs have capitalized on the nationwide price increases to raise their prices as well >.<

    Yes it does I eat eggs like crazy.
    I regret not doing my quail this year.
    But egg prices have dropped almost back to normal price again by me
    which is good
