    Thanks, man. Same back to you! You can do the 1,000 also! I had a bike accident last Sept which is why my numbers are low last year but take a look at my chart the past few months. I had just broke 500 miles for the first time, myself. I went from 400+ to 500+ to 800+ and I said well *kitten*, I'll try for 1k! And all within a few months. Time allowing, you can as well.

    I made my goal, I made my goal!!! Okay, so it was not very ambitious - only 100 for the month. School started back and I went a couple of weeks only riding once on the weekend. I have finally gotten into a groove after 3 weeks of school and back at it. I have ridden 107.85 miles and a little over 60 was done in the last 5 days. I rode Sunday, Tuesday, and tonight. :)
    I'm just really excited to make my goal and want to really challenge myself for Sept. I will be riding once more in August I am sure. Fridays are dedicated to football, so no Friday rides.
    Sorry if I'm rambling too much.....I'm excited and still on my high.

    I was so excited about meeting my goal and rode again today. So my August total is now 135.29. Guess what? 90.99 miles are from this week alone!

    September goal will be 200.

    I'm hoping to some day be as awesome as most of you!

    Aug 1 - chilly (9C) and windy (30 km/h gusting to 57 km/h) with a "feels like" temp of about 5C and a little blast of sleet just to keep things interesting.

    And we cycled 38.5 km up the cycleway and back on our Thorn touring bicycles.

    So looking forward to summer!!

    Aug 8 - 27.93 km bicycle ride outside (85 min) ... and I even took it up to top speed once! :)
    Aug Cycling: 66.4 km in 208 min + 0 min cycling indoors

    Friday 14 August -- 60 min on the trainer (cycling indoors).

    Saturday 15 August -- 12.95 km on a local "rail trail" of sorts. They pulled up the track by 1934 and I think the remaining trail just sat there for quite a few years after that before they finally made a mtn bike track out of it.

    Kaoota Tramway | Greater Hobart Trails

    It starts with a steep climb from where you park your car to the actual start of the track, but once you're on the track, the grade is not bad. The trail is in fairly decent conditions but does require a person to pay attention ... there are rocky bits and muddy bits, and 101 small tree branches to lodge themselves in a rear wheel.

    But it was a good ride! Something a little different. :)

    Sunny but quite chilly.

    Sunday 16 August -- 27.4 km at a pushing at my upper limit.

    Aug Cycling: 106.75 km in 384 min + 60 min cycling indoors

    Saturday 22 August - 22.5 km cycling outside on beaches, on trails, and on road (90 min)

    Sunday 23 August - 60 min cycling indoors.
    Aug Cycling: 129.25 km in 474 min + 120 min cycling indoors


    Saturday 29 August - 1 hour, 45 min cycling indoors.

    Aug Cycling: 129.25 km in 474 min + 225 min cycling indoors

    I ended up with 327 miles for August, with most rides being in the 15-20 mile range. I had one ride 50+ miles. Nothing for pace compared to some of you, but I'm riding a beat up old mountain bike that is 16+ years old. It's not much for style, handling, or pace but all that extra weight and the fat knobby tires are helping me burn calories!

    8/1 85.6 road bike, did the down and back Panhandle bike ride
    8/2 29.57 road bike, did the Tour De Denver ride, Denver Indiana that is.
    8/3 8.10 road bike, short recovery ride
    8/4/0
    8/5 19.45 road bike, rode with the Wed. nite ride group
    8/22 23.04 road bike, rode the Piegeon Creek trail in Evansville
    8/24 6.54 miles, quick before dark ride all I had time for
    8/29 35.20 miles, road bike, rode in the Tour de Reason in North Carolina

    Total 207.47
    fell short but got to busy between 8/5 and 8/22

    Sidelined by some unexpected surgery last week, but my doc finally cleared me to resume biking this afternoon. Ended August at 365, but will go for 500 in September. Toying with getting a dedicated triathlon bike, but might wait until I secure a registration slot for the 2016 Ironman Florida in another 2 months.

    So looking forward to summer!!

    Aug 8 - 27.93 km bicycle ride outside (85 min) ... and I even took it up to top speed once! :)

    Friday 14 August -- 60 min on the trainer (cycling indoors).

    Saturday 15 August -- 12.95 km on a local "rail trail" of sorts. They pulled up the track by 1934 and I think the remaining trail just sat there for quite a few years after that before they finally made a mtn bike track out of it.

    Kaoota Tramway | Greater Hobart Trails

    It starts with a steep climb from where you park your car to the actual start of the track, but once you're on the track, the grade is not bad. The trail is in fairly decent conditions but does require a person to pay attention ... there are rocky bits and muddy bits, and 101 small tree branches to lodge themselves in a rear wheel.

    But it was a good ride! Something a little different. :)

    Sunny but quite chilly.

    Aug Cycling: 79.35 km in 298 min + 60 min cycling indoors

    Sunday 16 August -- 27.4 km at a pushing at my upper limit.

    Aug Cycling: 106.75 km in 384 min + 60 min cycling indoors

    Saturday 22 August - 22.5 km cycling outside on beaches, on trails, and on road (90 min)

    Sunday 23 August - 60 min cycling indoors.
    Aug Cycling: 129.25 km in 474 min + 120 min cycling indoors


    Saturday 29 August - 1 hour, 45 min cycling indoors.

    Aug Cycling: 129.25 km in 474 min + 225 min cycling indoors

    Yep ... definitely anxiously awaiting summer. :weary:

    And that is where I ended the cycling in August. Hopes for more in September.
