Please explain TDEE to me!!!!

When I started on here in February I put my settings at wanting to lose 2/lbs a week. I don't really remember any of the other info it asked or why I came to the conclusion that I need to eat 1200 calories. I've been logging here religiously for about two months and have lost 14lbs so I'm not too worried that I'm doing things wrong but I don't want to do any harm to my body by not eating enough. I recently heard about tdee on a message board here and calculated mine, it said I should eat 2,429 calories. Is that what I would need to maintain my current weight? (169lbs, 5'7" (GW:140)) am I eating too few calories if I eat 1,200/day? Any insight is helpfull, thanks!
