MFP Protein/Fat Ratio?

Help. I can never seem to hit the MFP protein level without either exceeding fat or ingesting more carbs from grain/legume combinations than is healthy for me. I'm insulin-resistant so I'm trying to hold carbs at around 120/day, all from fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans. I eat things like nuts, avocados, olive oil, and small amounts of real butter, which I know ups my fat, but even with a couple 4-oz. servings of lean meat I can't usually hit the protein without going over on fat. The other problem is that I can easily go over my fat allowance and my self-imposed carb allowance but still be short 200-300 calories at the end of the day, which would be fine except I'm still hungry. Should I really worry so much about fats from healthy sources or just concentrate on not going over on saturated fat?

I'm not sure I'm following properly, but what I THINK you are saying is that you have self-imposed a lower carb limit on yourself without modifying your other macros. If that's true, the calories aren't going to work out, and it makes sense that you'd be over on fat. Normally when you reduce carbs you'd create a custom goal and increase fat (and maybe protein some) to keep calories the same.

For example, let's say your goal is 1500. At the default macros that would be 50% carbs, 20% protein, 30% fat or:
188 g carbs, 75 g protein, and 50 g fat. If you eat only 120 g carbs, you'd be 272 calories short of your 1500 unless you replace them with protein or fat. If I wanted to follow the macros I'd rerun them as custom goals so they add up to what you want. (I usually do 40% carbs, 30% protein and fat, but I've done 30% carbs, 35% protein and fat in the past.)

Anyway, simpler answer is don't worry about the fat.

It is ok to go over on fat. When you decrease carbs, then protein or fat ( or both ) go up.

Yes, that's exactly what I was trying to say. I didn't understand about customizing the macros. I'm going to go figure that out right now. Thank you.
