800cals is too low to meet your body's nutritional needs..lowest you should eat is 1200cals..if you are in a very active job or have a high level of other incidental activity you will need to eat more than 1200cals.
Set your MFP profile how many calories does it provide on a daily basis? Start with that...0 -

Here is hopefully a more complete answer.
Yes, you can eat only 800 calories. I have had days when I did that. One of two things will happen though if you try doing it regularly:
1) you will develop an eating disorder which is definitely something you should NOT be trying to get to. Or
2) you will stick to 800 calories for a few days, then endup binge eating and consuming way more than what you should.
While Myfitnesspal isn't the perfect solution for everybody, I suggest you eat at least close to the recommended calories MFP tells. If you feel like being a bit more advanced in controling your calories, lookup what your TDEE should be and cut 10% from those calories for weight loss. You will have to be very realistic about the TDEE calculation (extremely rare people are living sedentary lifestyle).

Look it up on Google. I am unable to provide sources currently. In simple terms, its the estimated amount of calories you burn daily based on your height, weight, workout levels daily activities etc.0

800 would be way to low for a long term diet and you would end up doing yourself a disservice. Sounds like you are getting the same advice from many people..0

If this is the case, how would anybody ever die of starvation? Eating below 1,000 calories doesn't stop you from losing weight. If it did, wouldn't that be wonderful? We wouldn't have to worry about world hunger. Yet when we look around the world, we see that people DO lose weight when they don't eat enough.
This doesn't mean it is good for you: not eating enough can cause a lot of health problems.0 -

Like janejellyroll said, how do people starve to death if that is true. Think about it. People try to complicate things too much when it comes to fat loss. Having said that, eating too few calories is not good because you can't get the nutrients you need when eating too few calories.
Also most people that think they are eating that few calories are actually eating a lot more than they think. I love seeing people post things like "I can't seem to lose weight no matter what I do, and I can't eat more than about 1000 calories a day" Look at it this way, if you are trying to lose weight you were able to eat more than that or you wouldn't have gotten to the point where you needed to lose fat.

You're 5'1, 64kg, female, 35 years old. I'm assuming you have a mostly sedentary job**, as that is the modern norm.

Your TDEE is 1529
To lose .6 lbs per week (probably your max since you're not significantly overweight), you need to eat 1223 calories per day.
That's according to Scooby. I'm sure MFP wouldn't be much different.
Use this information however you would like.

Actually the observation that if you only eat 800Cal a day you will be hungry is wrong given that during a very low calorie diet there is a considerable time period during which your hunger reflex is suppressed by your body to enable you to function and go look for food.
The other observation that you won't HINDER your weight loss by very low caloric consumption is observationally also wrong.
You will eventually lose weight and die of malnutrition; but, in the meanwhile your body will have done everything it can to prolong your existence by slowing down all non absolutely vital functions, incidentally leading to periods where you think you're not losing weight.
What do I mean THINK you're not losing weight?
Because scale weight variations are and remain a very imperfect way of telling whether you are losing or gaining weight.
Here is an example of someone who has a >10% TDEE deficit (324 Cal a day deficit on TDEE of 3000) and is losing weight within that deficit... yet on September 12, 22, and 29 their weight is the same (around 172) and on September 30 it is 172.9 (in other words UP from September 12).
However this is caused by water weight variation while the underlying body weight is steadily decreasing.
The scale DOESN'T SHOW THAT, and all many people see is that on September 30 they weight more than on September 12!
