So the above link will show you how absolutely jacked up the results are for the popcorn listings on MFP.
All no butter:
Regal: small 670, medium/large 1200
AMC: small 370, medium 590, large 1030
Cinemark: small 420, medium 760, large 910
Add 130 calories approx for "butter" on small, 200 on medium, 260 on large
Note popcorn sizes vary greatly between companies and also at regal medium and large are same as large offers free refills.
Both regal and AMC use coconut oil which has TONS of saturated fat vs cinemark uses non-hydrogenated canola which in my opinion I've always thought cinemark has the best popcorn before finding all this out.

I often pop with coconut oil at home. Yum!0 -
Both oils have almost exact calories anyways....nothing wrong with saturated fats0

Now I want movie theater popcorn0

Ugh. So what? I eat it or bring pork rinds because they fit my macros better.0

Well, previous posters don't seemed impressed. But I appreciate this! Popcorn is one of my favorite things, and movie theater popcorn is absolutely irresistible to me. So I will arm myself with this info next time I want to spend nine dollars on 1200 calories of movie theater popcorn.0

I love movie theater popcorn & plan my calories around a small bag. But I bring nutritional yeast from home for the cheezy delicious extra protein!0

I went to watch Hotel Transylvania 2 with my DD yesterday and ate:
2 hot dogs
Nachos with cheese
Small popcorn with butter
Milk duds (whole box)
Large diet Coke
Well over 2300 calories, but I accounted for it by eating a small dinner.

Anything published by CSPI should be immediately dropped into a shredder.

I only go to the movies about 3x/year, so it is well worth the Medium popcorn0

I was going to say the same thing. I go to the movies about the same number of times. For me, the popcorn is part of the experience.0 -
it says the calories right on the menu at my amc. not news.0

True confession time: I don't eat movie theater popcorn. I don't care for it.0

Pickle flavored popcorn. I bring mine.0

Yum I love movie theater pop corn. And butter is my favorite food.... I should probably add 400 calories for all the extra butter I pour on my pop corn. So worth it.0

me either, the smell usually makes me a little sick. I guess I will count this as a small blessing. On the other hand if they sold a large bag of pastries at the movies I would get sucked in every single time.0 -
I love movie popcorn. I get it without butter. AMC has the best tasting. Cinemark is probably the most blah tasting. I still want popcorn every time I go to the movie.0
-
I'm confused about the point of this.
High calorie- buttery salty deliciousness.
