Losing weight with no exercise and I need help

Hello everyone,
I'm female age 40, 5.9 , 16 stone 2lbs, I've lost 2 stone already, but not getting anywhere now. My goal weight is to be a healthy weight which is between 9- 12 stone.
I'm pre diabetic and have been for 2 years now so watch my sugar intake and eat wholewheat instead of white carbs. Just one portion of fruit a day which is normally a banana or berries.
I'd like to lose at least 2 stone by Feb for a holiday away with the girls.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Have you tried incorporating exercise as well? I know your total says no exercise but you don't need vigorous exercise. Even just doing small things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator and going for walks each day can make a difference...1

What does "not getting anywhere now" mean specifically? Did you hit a plateau? How long ago? how long have you been tracking overall? Do you stay consistently under your calorie goal?0

I can't I have tried, but ended up making myself worse. I have prolapsed discs in my lower back, the shortest walks have left me bed ridden for days after. I think if I lose the weight first the exercise might be easier on my back.0 -

I lost 54lbs in the first 6 months and for no reason began to gain it back, I tried increasing my cals from 1200 to 1400 and 1700 over the following 12 months only to find I had a low thyroid. When that was sorted out I tried going back to 1200 since I still wasn't losing, tried 1700 and 1400 again over the past year. No change in my weight still.
Doctors orders, give myself a break for a month or 2 and start fresh at 1200 again, which I'm doing today. I just can't see it working.0 -

Your body hears what you tell it, what you constantly think and say....start saying I WILL and I CAN, instead of I Don't think I can, or I'm not able...MAKE it happen for YOU! Right there...you've decided you can't. Mistake X10!! Your body hears what you tell it, what you constantly think and say....start saying I WILL and I CAN, instead of I Don't think I can, or I'm not able...MAKE it happen for YOU! Mind over matter eh? Nope been there done that, I look in the mirror every day and think I'm skinny, the scales tell me different lol0 -
How long are you eating at a particular budget before throwing in the towel? Have you talked to your doctor about exercises you can do? Walking may be out, but your back may allow for a recumbent bike or swimming? I ask these questions because I've been there. I would eat at what I thought was 1,200 calories for a while and then realize I wasn't actually sticking to that because I was being lax by not weighing my food. I recommend a kitchen scale.0

My kind of gal. How about water exercises to take the strain off your back?
Do you have enough leeway in your diet to reduce your intake by 100 cals a day?0 -

Doctor says no exercise, it could cause more nerve damage, I had compression in the left and a little to the right I ignored the doctors advice before and tried exercising I've ended up with large compression to the right too now and some central (for those that don't understand, the disc is bulging pressing on my spinal cord), I asked to see a physiotherapist who have recommended bilateral nerve block compression injections which I will have to wait 3 months for at least. Water exercise is actually painful I feel like I have nothing but pain from the waist down.0 -

at 1200 cals I don't think I should reduce it further.0 -
OP, are you using a food scale? They really can make a huge difference. Make sure all your stats and your goal are accurate in MFP so you can get a calorie goal, use the food scale and log everything for at least a couple of weeks, and see what happens. Don't give up!0

Yes I use digital food scale, every things weighed accurately and previously logged it all here. I'm trying my best not to give up thanks

The single best treatment for your medical condition is usually physical therapy, so I find it odd that yours wants you to have injections, rather than start. However, there are often special conditions.
The most important factor for your diet is to understand that it does work. Your low thyroid was a mitigating condition previously, but if that is sorted out, then you will lose by watching what you eat. The key is to be consistent: it sounds like previously you upped your calories. That only works to help you fuel workouts which build muscle and otherwise help you burn more calories.0 -
I would go back to your Dr and make sure your T3, T4 and TSH levels are all in the optimal range, not just acceptable or 'in range'. I don't have the chart on my phone but if you do a search here with my user name and optimal, you should be able to find it0

Ah right, I was trying to exercise when my calories went up but it was more 1 step forward 2 steps back, I could'nt do as much as I had entered. My thyroid is back to normal now so I will keep it at 1200cals and see how I go for a month or 2.0 -
I was wondering if water would help. It sounds like you get too much movement in the water. I agree also that dipping below 1200 calories a day isn't wise.0

They are right now. I get blood tests every month0 -

It's a rare Dr that tests for free t3 and free t4, if yours does, I'm impressed.0 -

Surely your phisio could recommend exersize for you and water is great, perhaps your pushing to hard when you go!0

i always push to hard.. I keep getting told to slow down. I'm not used to going slow or being unfit so starting from scratch is a mystery to me. I dont know where to start.0 -
Well I'm afraid there's your answer, youl have to start out slow and build up, it sounds like you know what your doing wrong and you've worked out you are approaching exersize with the wrong attitude now when considering your health complications

For deliberately slow I'd suggest yoga or pilates, but you'd have to be really careful to only do those exercises that do not aggravate your back. It sounds like you need to do work where your trunk is virtually immobile. Perhaps exercises (cleared by your physiotherapist) on your back.0

Thats why I'm just doing it via diet if I can lose more that way, I would love help in that area really.0

I think most of us are trying to suggest a little exersize ...as I previously said why not ask your Dr or phisio and as you previously said this time around take it a little slower

Well, if you are at 1200 calories and you are weighing everything, it's just a matter of persistence. Messing with the macros won't do anything.0

Thanks all for your advice but as I posted previously I am under a spinal surgeon and a physio and I'm not allowed to exercise, they sent me for bilateral nerve root block compression injections to begin with. I need to loose weight via diet right now if possible0

I have to agree with jgnatca, you have specifically said you weigh everything and are on minimum calories....so there's not really much we can say about that, the only thing we can suggest is a little exersize....or of course lower your calories...but that would be extreme and not good to recommend0
