Akward Question about Bikini Tops

I am a large chested chick and I love bikinis. My biggest problem, or should I say problems, is that I cannot find tops that are big enough. I do not think "side boob" is sexy, nor do I think it is sexy when the strings dig into my neck making me look like a hunchback. Does anyone have any suggestions for tops? I'm even open to trying to make my own.

Just go topless....jk....i have the same problem, and i can't wear the tube top ones because when i jump in the water it comes off....basically all bikini tops are what i refer to as "nipple covers" because thats about all they cover on me
  • If it's popular, then maybe I can get a great solution. LOL

Buy the tops and bottoms separately. Lots of places do that. You can find a top/style that holds in the girls and bottoms that flatter that part.
  • have you tried a victorias secret suit on?? i have a tankin from there and it just FITS great! I really don't want any other brand after having this..and they have all kinds of sizes :)
  • There are specialist shops that cater for bustier women, and it does help to buy bra-sized swimwear rather than just dress sizes. I'm a G-cup and I've managed to find some lovely bikinis. They're a bit pricier than usual but it's worth it for something that isn't going to fall off or cut into my skin.

Same problem here! All of mine are tied tight so they cut into my neck :(

I have had some luck with Victoria's Secret tops because you can get them by cup size and some of them have support

if you google "DIY Bikini", there's a lot of links on how to make your own :)

Maybe a nice sports bra as a bikini top?

Same problem here! The solution I am doing this summer is a breast reduction in two weeks! Good luck to you on finding a swimsuit that works though!

Maybe halter tops with the thicker straps?

I know there are several on-line stores where you can order the pieces separately. Have you tried that yet?
  • victorias secret, or go online search your size and go to a website that accomodates your chest size

Buy a tube top one that ties around the neck... It will cover more, and the tie is just for keeping it up. lol

Tried finding an example so you knew what I meant. The one I was thinking of had thicker straps but this kind of shows what I mean.

Don't make your own. Check out Land's End or Lands End Canvas websites. Make sure to get one with the built in bra inside. :)

Sorry I don't have this problem, wish I did! lol

Maybe try finding one that has thicker straps like a halter or something. Sorry not much help. I haven't seen them in years, but they used to make them where they looked like tank tops. Good luck.

i saw a bikini top once that you stick too you, and it doesnt have a back..
like a bikini style strapless bra..
but i think it was not waterproof..
    which would be very impractical..
    hmm.

I got one with a lot of fabric for the top and the part that goes around my neck is a wide soft fabric so it doesn't dig.

I still have to be careful about them falling out. So when I want a real power swim I have to wear my tankini instead.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest! What about buying the biggest available (XL maybe?) and then altering the straps to make it smaller around... that way you get the biggest cup size but can sew it to make it fit more like your true size.

Victoria secret has a line for women with D chest and bigger. and they are made to support the girls. They are also good quality swimsuites. I wont buy my swimsuits anywhere else. although since dieting I no long belong to the busty girls club.

Oh, and don't get one with the thin strap that goes around your neck. Not a good idea for busty girls--it will cut in.

The Land's End suits are very well made and you can buy tops and bottoms separately. There's a lot on sale right now on their website. Avoid a tube top or string bikini style.

How about the tops that are like a bra? Shoulder straps instead of a halter that ties at the back of the neck.

    I have the same problem...

However, in your quest to lose weight, there's a good possibility that you'll also be losing fatty tissue from your breasts. I'm down 50lbs and have already lost 1.5 cups. I'd hold off on buying a more expensive/specialty bikini top until you're at your goal weight.

With that being said, I definitely recommend finding a bikini top with built in support like a wire (that way your boobs won't sag as much and they'll look even more amazing!). Victoria's Secret has some nice ones, and they even have tops available by cup size, including D and DD. I can't do any of the cute halter tops because my boobs won't fit in them :(

    Try the Athleta catalog --
  • I live in Arizona and we have a store here called EVERYTHING BUT WATER. They are online as well. They have underwire tops that do the trick. Yes, they are a bit pricier but totally worth it!! http://www.everythingbutwater.com/
You'll pretty much need to stick to underwire tops. Anything else just won't help.

I have always had this problem! I used to do a sports bra and then would go get bottoms that matched it, that and I just decided that tankinis or one pieces were better than my boobs falling out of the top.

your best bet is a halter with thick straps. cosmo and other similar magazines have articles in their issues in the summer months, suggesting specific suits for your body type. check out this link I found from cosmopolitan.com and select the category "busty" (sorry, haha). I wish I had your problem!
