Most of you girls are saying it takes 10 pounds on average to drop a pant size.. And I'm over here still wearing the same size and I lost 20 pounds

I've lost 18 and my pants still fit. Did you do what I did and buy stretchier jeans forever? Cause those "appear" to fit when you're overweight by being stretchy, but when you lose they fit without stretching, so they still fit. That's what's going on with mine.
It could also be that you're just losing weight in your extremities first, torso later. My grandma just dropped a TON of weight but when she started she lost from her fingers up. She had skinny, spindly pianist fingers for a long while before the rest of her started to get smaller. It seems to be pretty common for women on that side of the family to lose weight this way.0 -
Also, Congratulations on your loss!!!!!! You've reached a real milestone, so don't let your jeans bring you down!0

I just thought of something...
1) could be muscle! You dropped fat, but maybe some of it was replaced by muscle which still technically takes up space OR
2.) Maybe it was internal fat. Which they say could be the worst fat to have around your organs!
Either way, you will get there! Congrats on such an amazing feat! You will notice soon enough0 -
Lol no regular Levi's. They fit better though. But I would've thought that I would drop a least one pants size. I'm 162 now, and my goal weight is around 130. So just 30 more pounds to go.. That is why I thought these 20 pounds would show more. Oh well. Got to keep going! It'll happen when it happens lol. Thanks for your response and support0

Agree w/Coffee. I have a pair of jeans that started to fit about 10 lbs ago. They're a snug fit and will probably continue to fit ten lbs down (if I ever get that little). You can't always pick and choose where your body loses from
Also, are you weight training, since you would like to get your size down, not just the scale?

How many garments are you comparing? One brand's size 10 is another's size 12.
Have you washed any of these items lately? Clothes shrink in the wash, so they seem tighter when you put them on after washing.
I'm sure you've lost weight somewhere if you've lost 20 lbs.0 -
I started t25 last week. Before that I was doing cardio. Yes, I guess I can't control where I lose the weight.. I wish I could! Lol. The scale is going down and my pants fit better. But no drop in size.0

Seconded on the brand thing! There is so much variation, both in size and fit type. Like if you're comparing a 12 "Curvy" to a 12 "skinny" jean (even in the same brand) or something, that would throw it WAY off.
ETA: As does the rise (mid, high, hip-huggers(low rise)) and the length (if you are shorter and your jeans are too long, like me, you end up accidentally wearing them higher to make up the difference, but this is a short people not finding their size in petite thing, so may not apply)0 -

Unlikely to be muscle. You don't gain muscle in a deficit.0 -

Lol no I'm tall 5'7. But most my pants are a little low rise and are straight jeans. Same brand and sizes.0

I have lost approx 35 lbs and have barely went down a pants size! Aargh! Lol So I def feel your pain. I lost a lot of weight everywhere but my stomach. Not excited to see that is where the weight will come off last. Good luck on your journey!0

It is not true.
I have lost 7+ kg (1 kg=2.2 pounds) and gained 4% muscle mass (or lost 4% body fat).
Addition: I had lost both muscle mass and body fat when focusing on cardio alone back in 2013 (10 km runs/4 times a week). But for the past two years, I am weight training, cardio mostly as a warm up and on off days, cycling, swim etc. if have time )0 -
The last time I lost weight I didn't go down a size until I lost 18-20lbs. I found it frustrating but mainly because I could see the changes in my hips and thighs and also the scale! Just keep going strong and you'll be going down a size just don't rush things0
-
I've lost around 25 lbs and haven't really gone down a size. I'm tall too which makes a difference compared to someone more petite, plus the clothes fit me better now whereas before there was probably an element of denial going on...0

Same here. It took me nearly 30 pounds before my pants were too big for me, all because of my stomach. So I bought a pair of new pants, size 16. Now, five more pounds later (35 pounds total lost), my new pants are starting to get loose because FINALLY the stomach fat is going down. I'll probably lose a size every five pounds or so for the next 25 until I reach goal, because at goal weight, I wore a size 6.0 -

I'm super short (4'10"), have lost 20 pounds and my clothes still fit okay. I'm sure I could buy a smaller size jeans, but the ones I have aren't horribly baggy. And they weren't overly tight before I lost weight. So I could very easily believe that taller people could lose 20 pounds and not change a size.0
-
Don't feel upset about it. I'm short [5ft] and I went down a jeans size after losing the first 10lbs but some of that was stomach bloat. I've now lost another 9lbs but more overall so won't be downsizing again until I've lost quite a few pounds more.0

You're misunderstanding how the percentages interact with each other. As you lose fat your percentage of lean muscle mass will increase: providing you don't lose muscle along with the fat (or lose a significant amount of muscle). Your new fitness regime (including lifting) is preserving your muscle mass this time. An increase in muscle mass percentage does not mean an increase in actual muscle while losing fat.
Nevertheless, well done! It sounds like you're doing exceptionally well and that you've got your regime nicely dialled in.0 -

Thanks for the compliment.
Okay maybe I got it wrong.
I believe that fat doesn't convert into muscle and more muscle burns more fat. I am not just talking about composition.
Measurements, now measurements don't lie.
To be honest, I have lost a little muscle mass along with fat ( because my understanding is that fat loss cannot be itself, muscle loss happens simultaneous (please correct me if I am wrong here) but amount of muscle mass lost can be comparatively way lesser if weight lifting (preservation of muscle mass))).
My measurements have changed dramatically but more importantly I have the best body ever and I have ever started cut/gain cycle yet. Because my body fat % is still above 20% (22.5).
Now muscle size will grow when bulking (along with fat gains), I totally agree with that.

I went down one jean size at about 15 lbs... From 12 (assorted brands, mostly 32's in high quality denim like Hudson & Paige ~sobs~) to 10.
Luckily, my neighbor who is also losing weight gave me a whole stack of 10's to root through. Again, all sorts of brands so it's pretty accurate.
If it's any consolation I still have my fricken double chin. I'd wear bigger britches longer if I could lose this sucker who photo bombs every picture I'm in.
When you find the justice in weight loss let me know!0 -
The pants I wore at 185-190 were a 14 and they were very tight at the top. Serious muffin top. I still wear them at 155 lbs but I can now pull them on and off without undoing the button, and the legs are slimmer.
Before I wore a belt to help disguise (feebly) my muffin top. Now I wear a belt to hold my pants up.0 -
OP, it also depends on how you're built. Like another poster on here (aes1219), I'm 5'5". After my daughter was born I was around 160-170 and in a size 16; at my smallest (126#s) I was a size 10; at 130-135#s I was a size 12, in the 190s and I'm still in an 18 (though they are getting looser ).
I've lost a bit over 20 pounds and have yet to drop an official size (but, like another poster mentioned, there was some stretch involved so that's not too surprising).
The simple fact is that we're all built different. I have hips, thighs and a big butt--always have--which means I'll probably never wiggle into a size 2. BUT, I (and we all) can look amazing in whatever size we end up in. It's just a number, don't stress; rock the size you're wearing and step over the haters. You got this!0 -
It takes me about 40 lbs to lose one clothing size. I am 6' tall though. I was a size 16/18, down nearly 50 lbs and just started getting into 14's. I know from previous weight loss that it will be another 30 before I see a size 12. Beyond that I am not sure what will happen because I have never been smaller than that!0
-
Took me 25 for the first size (18 to 16), 20 for the second size then I went from 14-10 in 20#.
Bigger sizes fit a wider range of weights.0 -

To add another comparison. ....I'm 5'5" & 172#. Currently wearing a size 10 comfortably.
Pre kids I was a size 9 at this weight.0
