really sad, this feeling of failure (I know it is not, but my depressing&depressed hormones are talking right now) is difficult to swallow.

So sorry. :'( You probably need to rest it a few days. You will come back even stronger. Hang in there. Everyone of us understands that sad feeling when you can't run.

thanks - I know the best will be to rest for a week, on one hand I've got my commitment to maintain, on the other hand at the moment there is no way I'll be able to run tomorrow

hope a good night sleep and a million grams of antiflammatory will do the trick, if not I'll suck it up

the positive is that I'm unapproachable so people avoid me and I enjoy the quiet

Taking a rest day since my Huntsville Half is tommorow morning.
I just felt like I needed more rest today as opposed to doing a shakeout run.

11/1 3.1 @ 11:15 outside in the neighborhood in the rain
    11/2 rest
11/3 5.0 @ 10:59 on the treadmill (plus a 1 mile walk and strength training)
11/4 8.2 @ really really slow (16:04) riking (run-hiking, steep, covered with inches of leaves and treacherous fun)
11/5 4.0 @ 12:30 recovery run plus .5 walk on the park trail
    11/6 3.25 @ 10:53 on the treadmill (really 3.0 at 10:28, plus .25 at a walk) plus strength training.
    11/7 Rest/Life Day

    11/8 Rest/Life Day
11/9 5.5 @ 12:30 on the park trail with the doggy--who really enjoyed rolling around in the leaves!
    11/10 2.5 @ 11:38 (really 2.25 at 11:07 and a .25 walk) around the neighborhood in the rain.
    11/11 6 @ 11:32 on the treadmill (really 5 at 11:00 and 1 at a fast walk/jog) plus strength training
11/12 7 @ 11:45 (this is really like 5 at 10:50 and the rest a little slower), plus 1 at a walk on the treadmill. I am in some pain...yesterday was squats and lunges and this may have been a little aggressive of a run for right after. :( On the other hand, I did get to watch the entirety of "Bring It On". Where are my pompoms?!
11/13 2 @ 13ish walk/running the dog for my recovery run. Felt pretty good, but don't have time for more today...may run tomorrow even though it's usually a rest day.

Sorry I haven't been around, I've been so busy at work I can't see straight. Took rest days on Thrs and today, got my HM tomorrow (see you there @Stoshew71 ). Woke up this morning with a sore throat...really? Cracks me up because I never get sick, I'm sure it will pass.

Who all is racing this weekend, good luck!!!

I have apparently lost my mind.

My church's 5K is tomorrow, but yesterday someone posted onto the FB site for the group I (kinda) run with that they were looking for someone at a 10:30 or slower pace that would let them buddy up for a few miles tomorrow. I spent several minutes calculating whether I would do my regular 10K with him, and then head directly over to the church for the 5K, or go home first and clean up a bit. Not really a question about doing both. But then sanity tried to rear its ugly head, and I decided I wouldn't try it.

My wife thought I was crazed, my son said "you'd never be able to do both." Which, of course, I take as a challenge. Now I'm figuring out my timing - and another (running) friend here has said, "Just show up at the church 5K sweaty - no one will care."

    Somebody stop me!!!

You came to the enabler group to be stopped.... you are so funny!!! So is your regular 10K a race or just a distance? If it's a race and you plan to race you might be too spent for the 5K otherwise I'd say do it ha ha!

I'm sort of bummed. After my run on Wednesday my right knee got really tight. No pain during the run at all. I can't see any swelling from the outside but the tightness and decreased range of motion must mean that it is there. The knee isn't warm and I'm not in any pain. I've been icing, resting, and elevating when possible. Using light compression here and there. I wanted to run later tonight and I have a full day of shopping with tons of walking lined up for Saturday (with my mother). I think that, at this point, I'll be skipping the run and possibly walking instead. The tightness is decreasing, but it is still there. I'm fearful of running on what seems to be an inflamed knee.

Running is the one thing I do a few times a week for myself. Really really bummed.

Just a distance. And the church 5K is tiny - we'll have maybe 50-60 runners, so I usually at least place in my AG.

Sorry to hear @patrikc333 :frowning: Really hope things ease up for you soon! Will you see your doctor or physiotherapist to try and work out what is happening? I've only just started really getting into running and sitting on the sidelines is frustrating.. I hope you are back out there soon painfree!

Gah. Looks like I will have to comment from the side lines for a little bit as I seem to have buggered up my left foot. I am waiting for a GP's appointment at the mo.

Did a long run on Sunday night and everything seemed fine as was Monday and Tuesday morning. Then on Tuesday afternoon the bottom of my foot started hurting next to the arch on the lateral side. Walking home that evening the pain got a lot worse and I had problems weight bearing.
    Bugger.

Hoping you have a good outcome too @msf74 ... Let us know how you go with the GP!

I am struggling to find ways to move! I have been doing upper body strength but as for cardio.. and I haven't been eating well and I feel horrid! It's been 1 week since I tore the ligament.. Wondering if my physio would approve a light walk around the lake.. My next appointment isn't for another 5 days!

Did my PB at parkrun (5k) this morning!

    40:30. Don't laugh, I only started running on Sept 22, and I'm 48.

It was a lovely morning for a run, too!
