Are you progressively lifting more or staying at the same weight over time? I guess I'm surprised because I deadlift twice that.0

Sounds like you should be lifting a lot heavier than what you are. 10-15 reps is a bit high in my opinion. 8-10 is optimum for hypertrophy( which will allow your muscle to get enough work put on it in order to grow). I would say you should go on a strength program which would also help you build size. Maybe just do 5 reps of each exercise on a well written plan. Go to the gym at least 3 times a week. And add 5 Ibs to each movement each time you do them. I'll offer my help if you need it. Nothing against your friend but I believe he may not be taking the best approach.0 -

And im in a strength program as it is and i do add 5 every week part of my
Strength program and so far results showing0 -

I don't buy it. I've been lifting for a month- I'm a runner and I don't usually do more than basic strength training. I STARTED at dead lifting 95 pounds and I'm 5'2" and 117 pounds. You need to progress higher if you want to see progress.0 -

I do anywhere from 8-15reps it varies amd i been progressing higher every week by 5-10lbs been working oit on and off for five years just started getting in to it this year like no tomorrow0

Im new to dead lifts and overhead pressing but benching i can do 145lbs0

Hey man. If you haven't been training for a while don't be ashamed of it. It's not about how big you are or how much you can lift. Everyone's different. It's okay if you're new to this. Just give solid and honest information if you need help. For your friend to be training 18 years he should be giving you a little better insight than what he is. Again, I'm not saying it in a hateful way. Just constructive criticism bro.0 -

He does have somewhat of the correct idea for a plan. Although you could have a better one written for you. Or look online. Bodybuilding.com has loads of plans.0 -

I'm still confused. Shouldn't one be deadlifting way more than what they bench? Someone help me out here. If you're progressing every week 5-10 lbs, then you just started dead lifting last week?0

Sounds like he's been lifting some but just added the overhead press, deadlifts, and squat at his friend's recommendation. It's not unheard of for a guy who isn't doing a program to ignore stuff like squat and deadlifts for bench.

With stronglifts or starting strength or ice cream fitness or something of that ilk and following it to the letter

No i started dead lifting 2 weeks ago lol at a very low weight and been increasing slowly amd I started at 10 on each side now at 20 on each side0

Agreed. Your friend may have lifted for quite some time but he isnt addressing your goals with such a mininal and ineffecient program. When i help get friends into lifting, i alwayd start wiyh a structured full body routine developed by professionals. This includes helping my wife get into lifting.0 -
