My goal was 90 miles for December and I made it with 91.65 miles. December will be hard since it includes travelling and family obligations.

@_nikkiwolf_ no problem. My husband and I went on a rain coat hunt today and found something acceptable. It's all black with no reflection and made for hiking. But he suggested I just wear my reflection vest if needed.
@Stoshew71 love the bib!
@ddmom0811 gald the challenge is working for you! I haven't done my mile yet....And I'm not gaining any momentum on this couch with a full belly. I'll do it in a minute... Or 30
@CLEgirl Congratulations on reaching your goal!0 -
Reached 70km for the month! Pretty happy with that, considering most of it was from walking!

I went to the gym today (glad that I joined a studio just in time before hurting my toe) to do at least a little strength training if I can't run. I was already limping towards the treadmill when I realised that wouldn't work; and the only cardio machine I can use for a warm up right now is the bike. I'd always rather walk or run or than biking anywhere, and sitting on a stationary bike is about as annoying to me as using a "stepper" machine.
But glad you have yours back if you actually enjoy it
Haha, I mean, I would rather be running, but since I need to minimize my running, the bike has to do. Plus, school has been super busy, so biking means an extra 45 minutes of Netflix in my day, so it's not so boring!0 -
So catching up -
@HonuNui - love the fish pictures as always!
@beachhouse758 - I would stick with what you have for now and keep track of your HR. If you keep your HR in a zone where you can maintain a conversation, your pace will naturally improve and you will be able to keep up that conversation and your HR in that zone but running faster. I tracked my HR miles and time using a combination of my HR monitor and my app on my phone and then calculated my pace, or you can just track your pace with the app for now. Also running on cement is really bad for your body - I stay off the sidewalks for that reason (among others). It was recommended by my ortho to run on the 'softer' street if not on dirt or grass.
@joinn68 - welcome to the group!5BeautifulDays wrote: »beachhouse758 wrote: »
I also learned that there's nothing such as "the runner's body" (well, maybe for marathoners and such, IDK)
But yesterday, every body was soooooo different: from preschoolers to octogenarians kicking butt. It was fascinating to see all the range of people brought together by the love of fitness.
@Elise4270 - I have a Nike rain jacket that I got on clearance a while back that I love. It is black and silver, keeps the wind and rain out really well and doesn't add a lot of bulk. I bought it slightly bigger though so I could add layers underneath if needed. I have run in it in Maryland in the snow and Seattle in the pouring rain and it performed above my expectations in both. I also had UA leggings that were lined for the cold that were awesome - I gave them to my niece for running in Flagstaff where it is MUCH colder than here!
@9voice9 - Yep overdid it just a little! Want to sell some of those extra miles? I could use a few!
@karef - What you are experiencing makes perfect sense to me. Running is definitely stress relief for me and what I go to when something is upsetting to me. Hang in there, walk when you can and you will be back out running with us soon!
@Stoshew71 - the bib is awesome!
Didn't get to run this morning so went on a rare (for me) evening sunset run! It was lovely and my legs felt the best they have felt in at least a month. I think the massage yesterday was exactly what I needed, although my shoulders are still very sore from it, my hips, glutes and hammies are just feeling happy! Tomorrow is another busy morning so it may be another afternoon run for me. At least now I have shown myself that I can run later in the day and it is just fine! If I can get that run in tomorrow I may make my goal. Either way it is on to December!

Got some more km’s in this afternoon, wearing my new kicks. Very comfortable. I was even able to hop a bit in place and ankle was in good form and there is a lot of bounce in the heel and front of the foot - like walking on clouds compared to the Nikes.. Hopeful I may be able to go for a run on Wednesday morning before my procedure.. Imagine that? A run just hours beforehand.. It would really be perfect timing if I can pull it off!

November gone, a bad November. Cannot find peace with my body. I know it's a consequence of a streak with a high mileage, but before giving up I want to fight.
Saturday a good 10k, relaxed, tired (as I slept a lot, I'm always more tired after sleeping a lot) but good pace, left leg recovering very well and the right one not bothering anymore after the weird feelings of Thursday.
I ran 33.6km yesterday, it was extremely windy (weather warning in place), so it was very frustrating and difficult, but I did it and was very happy. the only problem is that my left foot started to hurt - I had NOTHING before going out. I was very happy I could run pain free more and more (it's been more than 2 weeks now that ITBS keeps bothering me), and this morning I could barely put my foot on the ground for the first 3km.
Was really close to quit this morning, but than as usual that stupid foot improved and I managed to finish my usual 10k. Rain and wind. Pace was ridiculous. But it was that kind of run you don't realize you are doing, it's amazing how many different feelings someone can have on the same route. Sometimes it takes forever, today it looked like it lasted 1 minute.
I guess that 99.9% people that'll read this post will think "this guy is an idiot, he needs rest". But believe me, when someone's challenge is to be out every single day and reach his daily goal, and for different reasons it's one of the few good things of the day/week, it's not easy to stop (unless obviously it's not possible to move)
hope you all had good week end runs
I lost even more weight unintentionally (and to be honest, I'm pissed because I don't have any support from my family, they think I keep doing this on purpose), and I am pretty sure it's that HRM that is underestimating the n of calories. Just need to find a way to buy the new FR630 (I fall in love with it) without my partner noticing it!

@ddmom0811 - Ended up with some reasonably cool weather upon my return this evening (lows of 65, but humidity is still over 90%), but not sure it'll get much below 68 this week. I'll take it though for now.
Ended up just doing a long easy paced 18 miler tonight after returning home. Still, there really is no such thing as an easy 18 miler, but at least the weather cooperated a bit.

@shanaber ... looks like you are still putting in some good mileage. This year was a drop off for me from last year (will finish with about 1350 miles), but hoping 2016 is back up where I like it to be. I realized that this Challenge thread helps me keep my miles up, especially on those dark, winter runs.0

Haven't been on since last Wednesday. Will have to catch up later today.
11/1 - rest day / Halloween Hangover
11/2 - 5.25 miles, 55° at 5:30 a.m. in Iowa! Nuts, but I love it!
11/3 - 4 miles on indoor track followed by weights / abs. After running mostly outside for six months, you can run pretty fast on a flat, indoor surface.
11/4 - 5.1 miles, again about 55° at 5:00 a.m. Getting spoiled by the weather!
11/5 - woke up with some major heel pain...a touch of plantar fasciitis perhaps. Decided to take my rest day early and try again tomorrow.
11/6 - 4 miles on indoor track + weights / abs. Heel feeling better, but not completely pain free.
11/7 - 6 miles on a gorgeous morning!
11/8 - 4 miles on another gorgeous day! Tried to get my daughter to come with, but she just wanted to walk...so I did that first.
11/9 - 4 miles on indoor track, followed by lots of stretching
11/10 - Rest Day.
11/11 - 4 miles on indoor track, then weights and abs.
11/12 - 5.1 miles on treadmill (Trek class)...always seems to be the most difficult run of the week.
11/13 - Unplanned rest day due to catastrophic appliance failure in my home
11/14 - 6.2 chilly but lovely miles in DSM...running out of these kinds of days I am afraid.
11/15 - 4.7 beautiful miles around my neighborhood...lots of stinky female gingko trees
11/16 - planned rest day
11/17 - 4 miles on indoor track, with weights and abs after (soggy, rainy day here...definitely November)
11/18 - 5 miles before it started dumping cold rain again. Not sure why, but this was a GREAT run! Felt good, relaxed, enjoyed the damp, windy and warm-for-November weather. Runs like this are super!
11/19 - 5 miles on treadmill (Trek class)...lots of speed work
11/20 - 0. It appears I caught a cold from @skippygirlsmom Decided to take it easy to make sure I have the energy to deal with the 5-10" of snow coming our way this afternoon.
11/23 - 4 miles on indoor track, weights and abs after. Cannot remember the last time I went 3 days in a row without running. Totally lazy this weekend. Closest thing to a workout was shoveling the driveway for an hour on Saturday.
11/24 - 4 miles on indoor track + 5 miles on stationary bike
11/25 - 4.25 miles. 48° on the day before Thanksgiving at 5 a.m.! Serious bonus!
11/26 - 4 miles on treadmill, then weights and abs
11/29 - 3.1 miles on rickety, old treadmill in my in-laws smoke-filled garage
11/30 - 4 miles on indoor track, then weights and abs
Ticker got goofed up. 89.7/90
