Do you weigh everything with scales? If you were actually eating 1000 cals you'd be losing weight.

It might help if you could open your diary or share more details or answer some of the questions people are sure to ask. More information is always useful to help pinpoint what might be going wrong.

Until then, here's my very general advice:

    1. If you aren't already, be sure that you're logging everything. Sometimes people forget about things like veggies, drinks, cooking oils, and condiments. For some people these can add up to enough to halt your weight loss progress.

    2. Consider buying a food scale if you don't already have one. They're about $10-$20 dollars in the US and easily found at places like Amazon, Target, and Walmart. Measuring cups and spoons are great, but they do come with some degree of inaccuracy. A food scale will be more accurate, and for some people it makes a big difference.

    3. Logging accurately also means choosing accurate entries in the database. There are a lot of user-entered entries that are off. Double-check that you're using good entries and/or using the recipe builder instead of someone else's homemade entries.

    4. Recalculate your goals if you haven't lately. As you lose weight your body requires fewer calories to run. Be sure you update your goals every ten pounds or so.

    5. If you're eating back your exercise calories and you're relying on gym machine readouts or MFP's estimates, it might be best to eat back just 50-75% of those. Certain activities tend to be overestimated. If you're using an HRM or activity tracker, it might be a good idea to look into their accuracy and be sure that yours is calibrated properly.

    6. If you're taking any cheat days that go over your calorie limits, it might be best to cut them out for a few weeks and see what happens. Some people go way over their calorie needs without realizing it when they don't track.

    7. If you weigh yourself frequently, consider using a program like trendweight to even out the fluctuations. You could be losing weight but just don't see it because of the daily ups and downs.

    8. Some people just burn fewer calories than the calculators predict. If you continue to have problems after 4-6 weeks, then it might be worth a trip to the doctor or a registered dietitian who can give you more specific advice.

You're not eating 1000 calories if you aren't losing. How are you measuring your intake?

Open up that diary and let us see, chances are it's an easily corrected measuring error.

It's not really obvious, dear, because if you were actually eating only 1000 calories then you WOULD be losing weight.

Then you're eating more than you think. Purchase a food scale and start weighing your food out. You'll be amazed at the size of portions compared to what you've assumed once you do it.

The average person underestimates calories by about 50% if they aren't accurately weighing all their food.

I weigh anything that's not pre-portioned out for me.

Just your dinner could be 1000 calories. "Any" salad, chicken "fried or cooked in oil or gravy".

Get a food scale and use it. If you were eating less calories than you burned, you'd be losing weight. Also open your diary.

You can't "think"-- you have to "know". Buy a digital food scale and start weighing everything you eat. If you don't you're just spinning your wheels. It's time to get precise.

All of this is meaningless without the weight of each item to calculate the calories in each.

You need to use a food scale to weigh your foods.

Why do you think avoiding carbs will help with weight loss ?

Do think think lemon water aides in weight loss?

Frankly, unless you accurately measure input - we're talking weighing things out and being precise - you can't know for sure what you're eating. Why are you so restrictive on food types, by the way - is it for health goals of yours, or do you think that's the only/'right' way to lose weight? Because I'm losing weight aggressively and today's lunch and dinner are pizza. You don't need to eat "healthy" foods to lose weight, you need to accurately control portions.

Now there are other good reasons you might want to eat healthier foods, but weight loss can happen just the same regardless.

Calories are calculated by the weight of the food. If you have 1500 calories to eat to lose weight, and you want to eat ground beef. You may have room for anywhere from 4-8 oz. Weigh out the appropriate amount that fits in your day and eat it.
