Counting every little thing as exercise?

i will admit in the past have logged cleaning, it was in the early days and i realised it was clutching at straws
but standing, that one beats them all
i guess need someone who has done it to explain why. Is it because standing for them really feels like exercise?0 -

Don't count standing as a calorie burn and then whine the next second about not losing.

I have a job where I'm on my feet and spend most of that time walking And I have a step tracker do I count those as exercise?0

Your job is part of your activity level. Sounds like you are least lightly active/active. Depending on how many steps you are getting.0 -

My guess is you're highly active. That's over what I get when I add an hour of intentional exercise to my day.0 -

I had it se to active because on my days off I get nowhere near that0 -
I don't count any exercise calories at all. It's just too variable.
Like my diet, my total activity doesn't change much from week to week, so I know exactly how many calories I need to eat (or not eat). Using TDEE is easier (IMO) than MFP for this reason. I pay no attention to how much MFP tells me to eat -- I just use it to total my calories.0 -

Honestly, just give it 4-6 weeks and stick to your goal, and then adjust your calorie goal if you're loosing too quickly or too slowly given your projected loss. That's the most accurate way to go about it.0 -

They're using the "If it makes a fat person sweaty and out of breath it must be cardio" rule.0 -
Some of us users are disabled. I'm not " on plan" at the moment, just logging to show myself what *kitten* I eat when I'm not doing my healthy eating
Anyway, the point being, I have a few days when I'm bed bound. When I then get up and can move around without my wheelchair, I would log things that you would take the piss out of. I have logged 5 minutes of stretches before. To you that sounds pathetic/ clutching at straws etc. To me, that is a huge achievement, being out of bed, being able to move/ stand/ walk a few steps
We don't always know somebody's situation. HOWEVER ... if you tell me that person works, swims 50 lengths and does mini marathons for fun, I too will burn some calories belly laughing at someone logging their dusting0 -

When I first started out I did log cleaning at times. I'm a single mom that works a ton of hours, so sometimes I had to choose either clean the house or workout. I didn't want my house to become a pigsty and logging the cleaning gave me extra motivation. I would also log 5 to 10 mins of running or walking because thag is all i could do. I consistently lost weight. If I wasn't losing I would rethink the practice of logging the little stuff. (Down 40lbs. Approx 50 more to go). I don't log that stuff any more though.
I say if it gives someone a little extra motivation then go for it. We all have to start somewhere.0 -
Logging isn't what causes weight loss. Consuming fewer calories than you burn causes weight loss. It doesn't matter at all to your body whether you log breathing in and out, or marathons, or weightlifting. It does matter to your body that you continue to breathe, and whatever else you're doing to lose, gain or maintain (food and/or exercise-wise).
For me, logging is a way to keep records, so I can look back and see what's working and what's not.0 -

For me it was clutching at straws as I was lazy
This is the reason I asked for someone to explain why they would log it so I can understand0
