While there is no absolute reason to eat protein (your body will strip it from existing muscle), it isn’t something I’d recommend. Finding a good macro set that works for you is a better approach.

Honestly? What the eff are you talking about.

Pretty simple. You can go a day without protein, in fact our ancestors likely did it on a regular basis. It isn’t something you’d want to do for an extended period of time, but you could without adverse health consequences. Was that not clear?

No, it actually wasn't. You made it sound like protein was not necessary to eat, ever. Which is clearly insane.

The OP said today, not forever.

Hey OP, I understand completely. When I have GI issues all I want is starchy/sugary carbs and fats. Today is a perfect example. No interest in protein (or vegetables for that matter) and I need to stay full (keep those digestive juices neutralized). Sadly for me, this wasn't hangover induced. Tomorrow's a new day though.

This post was a complete head scratcher for me so I Googled "hangover protein." One of the results suggested the following meal for hangovers:
If you’re a vegetarian, take two large mushrooms (stalks removed) and poach them whole in water for 2-3 minutes. Turn upside down and fill with a mixture of cottage cheese and baked beans. Serve on a bed of wilted spinach.

Now, I have never actually had a hangover so maybe this would hit the spot during one but it sounds absolutely stomach turning to me.

Well, I have had (occasional!) hangovers, and I would agree that that meal sounds horrid for that particular moment. Whoever wrote that hates people.

The cure for a hangover is a greasy breakfast with eggs & hashbrowns & highly processed meat & maybe pancakes.

    + orange juice

I cooked around 500 grams of chicken drumsticks in the oven today and planed to eat them in 2 sittings. I overdid it and ate 500 grams in one sittings. 100 grams of protein. I regret nothing

I was amazingly not hungover today after drinking a day and half worth of cals last night- I put it down to all the dancing and water interspersing the wine.
So I have eaten normal protein and everything else, including some amazing samosas and chutney.

If I had had a hangover, the bacon, eggs, tomatoes, baked beans and toast were waiting in the wings. Plenty of protein and fat and carbs in my fav hangover breakfast.

Does protein not agree with you when hung over @craigtraining2016 ?

    Cheers, h.

ETA @callsitlikeiseeit try an EmergenC for a hang over. The extra electrolytes and vitC work wonders.
