What nobody tells you about losing weight

I always assumed there was just people who were wired to love exercise and I wasn't one of them but I've learned everyone can be that person, you just have to stick with it long enough to see some progress and it's such a motivator!
I never thought I would be a gym person, no I go 5-6 times a week and miss it when I don't go. I also have gym friends that I socialize with outside of the gym...crazy0 -
Having people you've never met before call you "tiny". It's always a huge boost to my self esteem.4

That sometimes mid conversation, someone who you haven't seen in a while stops mid sentence, then blurts out "did you loose a bunch of weight". (Yes, 80 lbs so far)6

I keep one or two pairs of pants at a size higher than I am because when I'm (really) bloated I go up a size. Never used to happen when I was heavier!1

Your unhealthy partner constantly asking you to cook because it tastes so good in compare to take out or frozen dinners.4

Oh this is so true! It took me losing over 30 pounds to go from a size 20 to a size 18... and now at 135 lbs I am a size 6... unless I gain 3 pounds - then I am an 8. If I lose 3 pounds, I am a 4. Geez... Have to keep 3 sizes handy since I can easily fluctuate up to 5 pounds either way.4 -
Three compliments yesterday - completely unrelated to weight loss!2

You will likely get hit on much more than before. If this is something you're not used to, you'll need to learn how to politely turn down advances without coming off as being rude.2

I now have a drawer of ridiculously large t-shirts from events I've done in the past. I don't want to get rid of them because I had fun at those, but when I put them on, I look like a hobo that robbed a thrift store and ended up with a night shirt.
(this message is not making fun of hobos, or thrift stores, both of which I favor)
Turn them into a quilt, that way you have them but don't have the urge to wear them.1 -
Have the same problem and it will continue for a while... my husband has been using mine for rags...1

My DH said I now look like a hobo in my winter coat. Maybe I should shop for a new one....0

I have a bunch of old band t-shirts in large and extra-large, I'm now wearing a small. I don't want to get rid of them so have just started basically cutting them up and re-sewing them, using a shirt that fits as a template. Works great so long as the front and back print are small enough on the originals that they don't get cut through.

how my shirts aren't just too wide, but now too long!0

That it is actually possible to go to the beach with friends and sit building sandcastles with their kid while you are wearing only your swimsuit and no extra beach cover-up, without being hung up about the fact that you are still quite squishy.7

Having people ask if you've been ill .....
Colleagues telling you you don't need to lose any more weight .. or don't lose too much ..
Putting on clothes I love but haven't fitted into for years .
Getting a buzz from exercise after years of avoiding it !

I find those great to use when I do house cleaning with bleach. I do not care if i get some bleach on it and streak it. They also protect the rest of my clothing.2 -

Seee...it has a way of seeking up on the most unlikely people! My husband had cod and veggies for dinner last night and loved it! He's a burgers and cheese fries kinda guy, but it turns out he is asking to have what I'm having more and more often!5 -
- Cold!! All. The. Time! I hope this means I won't be so hot and sweaty come summer1

Yes, that is exactly what it means. That is absolutely the best thing in losing weight. Now I can go thrugh summer like a normal person and not hot and sweaty tomato.5 -
That sometimes it just doesn't make sense! My partner (also logging here) occasionally likes to wolf down a packet of huge triple chocolate cookies as a treat. At 1200 calories a pack on top of his lunch and dinner it puts him over his maintenance, but WITHOUT FAIL he has always lost weight the next morning! It's got to the point where 'magic cookies' has become a running joke with us. Seriously, he dropped 0.8 lbs this morning (he weighs daily). It's not like he goes over his calories too often so maybe the occasional cookie binge is triggering a whoosh or something - it's so funny (and I am pretty jealous).
Also, nobody told me that doing C25K would turn me into someone who craves a run on rest days. WHO AM I?!9 -

How much it would help to ease my anxiety. I had no idea it was going to make me feel so much better emotionally. My breakdowns are fewer and less severe than they were a year and a half ago when I first began.15
