Menopot

Ugh, it's totally pissing me off. I'm 55 and have been working out consistently since the beginning of January. I work out 5-6 days (cardio intervals - I mix it up plus strength training a few days a week) and my waist is as thick as ever.... I'm 5'2 and weigh 138. In my younger days I had a 27" waist and now it's 35... ugh. They say abs are made in the kitchen and I haven't been the best in that area - too much of everything. Not really looking for advice but just wanted to vent and recommit to a much healthier diet. Thanks for listening.

Doesn't matter how much you work out if you're not eating at a calorie deficit.0

Yep, I know that. Putting it into practice has been a challenge.

I FULLY understand! A secret for me is to (try) to stop snacking after a certain time at night AND drink water all the time. Of course I just bought like 6 boxes of Girl Scout cookies - they are so good!0

Hahaha! I hear you on the no snacking after a certain time and staying hydrated. I've been saying no to the girl scout cookies, need to do the same for Fries!!0 -

Girl Scout cookies were my first binge food and I still have a hard time moderating Thin Mints, so if I see GS at the supermarket selling cookies, I just give them money and do not take the cookies.0 -
I opened this thread fully expecting to read about some crazy new product called Menopot.
I am very disappoint.
Carry on.0 -

Hey, if you've saved the calories for night eating - no problem. Doesn't matter when you eat. What matters is the deficit. (And I looooove night eating, couldn't live without it.)

"I opened this thread fully expecting to read about some crazy new product called Menopot." That is so funny! Oh no, this is definitely not a "new!!" It really can be frustrating to see our bodies change in ways we didn't really expect. Just keep doing your best!0

No doubt. I have the same issue unfortunately. Undo all my hard work in the gym constantly by having no self control with the food so I know all too well...0 -

I'd encourage you not to use age as an excuse. At this point in life we have the experience & maturity to overcome obstacles and reach our goals. Lots of women have done it!
You can check out my story in the Success Stories forum: 18 months and going strong with pics It should still be on the first or second page. (I can't copy the link from my phone.)0 -
@mrsgoodwine here is a link to @lorrpb's success story she mentioned above.

Thanks, all. This really was just a vent. I don't plan on using my age or the fact that I am post menopausal as an excuse. All I know is - I don't lose weight like I use to so I need to change my approach. Both in the way I eat, my attitude and my patience level. I appreciate the links. lorrpb you look amazing and you are an inspiration. Just looking to commiserate and whine a bit. Thanks to all who took the time to chime in.0
