As a diabetic, that's not bad advice. I would recommend you search for some of the Low Carb groups. There are also a handful of diabetic groups, from my understanding (both T1 and T2), so you can probably find some good support there to help.0 -
HI feel free to add me if you like I am a type 2 diabetic and through reducing my carbs I have lowered my a1c from 10 to 5.6 and been taken off insulin!

I also am T2Dm. Did your dietitian give you a daily maximum number of carbs? I have been counting carbs since diagnosis 2 years ago and am currently totally managed by diet and exercise. My last A1C was 5.0. I was given a max of 180 carbs per day and she has trusted me to decide what foods to eat in order to reach my macro goals without going over the carb max.0

THIS ^^^^. Here is a link to the main low carber forum group here in MFP. It's where most of us Ketofiles tend to hang out. There are many member who are T1D, T2D and many who were pre-diabetic so stop by and say hello:

This is a good idea, although not every diabetic needs to go low carb or keto. Most do well on moderate carbs but you need to see what works best for you. The T2 group can really help understand the BG readings and what is happening, especially if you are starting out on medications or insulin and the low carb groups can really help you get ideas for how to reduce carbs. (hint: it is not all about cutting out processed sugar)0 -
Sheila there is a Type 2 support group that has loads of info about carbs and diabetes and lots of people who can help or just listen here's the link in case it's of any interest
