Ut oh...you're definitely gonna get some responses to this. Not sure if it's what you're going to be looking for, though.0
-
really? take it it was a bad move then?0
-
lol i did it about 12 years ago. I couldnt eat the stuff after the 3rd day the soup becomes nasty. I dropped about 7lbs water weight, gained about 10 or so back.0

Well your body isn't made to live on soup, now is it?
The weight comes right back soon as you stop, sorry to say.0 -
I've never done it. I don't like cabbage or maybe I would have!
But you may get lots of posts telling you how unhealthy it is. Just a warning! But do what you want!0 -
You'll lose weight eating cabbage soup because it's low calorie and for no other reason. If you don't train yourself to maintain healthy eating habits and making smart decisions then you'll just gain all the weight back once you start eating "normal" again.
Most people here don't advocate "diets" so much as "life style changes". If you eat in a healthy manner that you can maintain for the rest of your life you will be healthy for the rest of your life. Unless you want to eat cabbage soup forever - then more power to ya!0 -
Bump...this is going to be an interesting read later.0

Im really impatient though, if i dont seen results straight away i give up!
I love fruit and vegetables though so it seemed like a reasonable diet to try which gives quick results.0 -
are you on the new version?0
-
I tried it a few years back and had the same experience as those mentioned above. I then RE-tried it... and the smell of the soup triggered some sort of memory in my body b/c it was like "aww h3ll no!".
Same goes for the lemonaide diet, etc. There are healthier ways to lose weight quickly (and permanently). Have you thought of going low carb or paleo??0 -
Yeah im trying it so i will lose some weight which might motivate me to stick to healthy eating in order to keep the pounds off, ive tried to many times but i keep failing and giving in to my sweet tooth0

i have tried this diet before
result are fast
watch out for kidney stone0 -
Yes its the new version0

Worse move EVER. Fad diets may work in the long run, and give you a boost if you have a lot to lose, but they are ultimately a terrible idea. i did one once, went so skinny it was scary, i looked and felt awful, then when i ate normally i put more back on. our bodies dont deserve to be treated this badly, we only get one so should treat it with respect. if you are serious about weight loss and getting healthy, try following a low fat, low calorie balanced diet and combine it with whatever physical activity you can manage, anything will help. a good place to look for healthy eating tips is closerdiets.co.uk. but the idea is your calories out should be greater than calories in, and you can use this site to help you calculate. dont look for a quick fix, but for a life style change that will lead to a happier and healthier you, with the body you deserve!!! good luck, and whatever you do, dont fall into the crappy fad diet trap. STAY ON THAT WAGON!!!0

Oh you know you can go out drinking with your friends right?0

It's meant to kick start you into a healthy diet, I do believe that it's a weight watchers starter thing that they STOPPED using because it's not good for you long term, and people were using it long term.0

patience is so necessary. With healthy eating and exercise you will see results, just not immediately. The only result you will see on this diet, is on the scale. And its just water weight.0

Have you tried the Fat Smash Diet? I think this would be easier to do. The first phase is a detox and gives great results. It is healthier and easier to keep doing. (I think anyway). Let me know if you are interested and I'll email you the first phase.0

A bunch of ladies I worked with 15 years ago all did that diet. Every single one of them put the weight back on as soon as they stopped, and most of them didn't last long on it. I'm sure they jumped on some other "lose weight quick" scheme soon after.
While I understand the desire to lose the weight quickly, all you're doing is setting yourself up for disappointment and failure and eventually a blow to your self esteem because you've "failed" at another diet. Give MFP a try. I mean, really give it a try. No one says you can't eat sweets while you're meeting your calorie goals. I had angel food cake and an ice cream bar yesterday and lost a few ounces from yesterday morning because I was still under my goal. It really does work if you stick with it.0 -
I just find it overwhelmingly nauseating to eat only cabbage soup. Yuck!0
-
*sigh*
if you see results it will be because you are malnourished and severely lacking the energy your body needs to sustain itself0 -
Whether it's healthy or not is one thing but I just don't think I could keep that going for a long time at all... In fact I think I would be binging on chocolate within the first few days purely because I wouldn't be 'allowed' to eat it!0

I would suggest a balanced diet of meat, fruits and veggies. Low in carbs and high in protein. Graze on low calories in between and don't go over your calories for the day. It will stimulate your metabolism. Anything like the cabbage diet may work for a little while, but it always comes back. Balanced and healthy eating is the only way. Anything that comes off fast won't last most likely.0

I never understood the cabbage diet anyway. As a child, I grew up next to a cabbage field. We had the farmer give us the spoiled and leftover cabbages daily to feed to our pigs. I don't think it was so they could lose weight, but hey, what do I know?0

I found it pretty easy to follow too, although I left out the cabbage!! I think its good for a bit of a detox. Gets your body used to not having sweety things. But as everyone has said the weight is water weight and it comes back pretty quick. It's impossible to lose more than 2lbs of fat per week. So if you lose more than that its water and muscle.
Good luck :flowerforyou:0 -
i have never done the cabbage soup diet, but i have made the soup, and eaten it. the soup isn't bad for you, in fact, i think it's quite healthy, since it's loaded with veggies. if you use the low sodium substitute for the tomato juice, etc, it's even better. when i have a big batch made up, i will eat it for lunch several times a week. i find it fills me up, and is super low in cals. that said, i wouldn't do the diet thing where the soup is the only thing you eat, but as a meal now & then, it's a healthy, smart choice.1

I have done the Cabbage Soup Diet off and on for more than 15 years. My weight has been like a YO YO. My problem is I like to eat, I am a chef, LOL. But as of late I have realized that I have to change my entire lifestyle if I want to lose weight and keep it off. Now I use the Soup diet to get off of a plateau or drop some extra pounds. On average I lose around 2.5 pounds a week then I will do a week of the Soup Diet and drop an extra 5 - 10 pounds in a week. (Keep in mind I am a big boy). As stated before, if you don't watch what you eat after you come off the diet you will gain it back. The trick is to change lifestyle and it will work. That is where MFP comes into play. If you watch your calories and exercise you can keep the weight off and continue to lose weight. Also for those that eat the soup and get sick of it, I have learned to blend it like a smoothie when I consume it. As they say, the more soup you eat the more you lose. Good luck, and if you need support on this I am happy to be your friend.0

I don't see how it can be THAT unhealthy. It looks like most days you get to have either all the fruits or all the veggies you want with the soup. Then a banana day and then 2 meat days with the soup. I'm thinking this maybe a good way to detox and gt some of my processed food habit out of me...0

The soup is gross people, good luck getting tot he 5th day without throwing it back up in your bowl.0
