A calorie deficit helps with weight loss.
A banana is a delicious fruit that helps meet micronutrient needs.
Look at your total diet not magical fruit.

Eating one banana a day is irrelevant to weight loss. Log your food accurately in your food diary and follow the calorie goal MyFitnessPal set up for you. No specific food will make you lose weight or make the weight loss faster.

Sorry meant to include this in original post - I will be eating other foods but asking if it's ok while losing weight to eat 1 banana a day to get to your daily calorie intake.0

It's ok to eat anything while staying within your daily calorie intake (within the context of an overall balanced diet, of course). A banana won't help or hurt anything.0 -
A banana, like most foods, is a neutral food. It won't help weight loss. It also won't hinder weight loss. It just is. Weight loss depends on how many calories you eat vs. how many you use. The overall diet matters more than any individual food. A banana can be a healthy part of that, but it won't dictate whether or not you lose weight.0

To answer your question, it is definitely okay to eat 1 or 2 daily. It won't harm you at all or affect your goals. I often eat bananas and peanut butter and it hasn't made weight loss harder. The main concern should be following your daily calorie goal and staying active. The types of foods you eat aren't that important in the big picture, if your main concern is weight loss.0

Well I would hope you are planning to eat more than 1 banana a day!!
Re the question - bananas seem a strange food to ask a specific 'are they ok to eat while losing weight' question. They are nutritional and not particularly calorie dense.
I don't eat one every day but I do eat one probably 5 days out of 7 - I like them, they are cheap and readily available and an easy portable snack or addition to my work lunch box.
Sometimes I even have one at breakfast too.
Am now a healthy weight and have been for last 2 years.

I like to eat as many bananas as I can fit in my calories if I have bananas laying around. Sometimes I even eat extra bananas. Eat as many as you like!0

Aahaa Yes, I've seen those many, many times. Never bothered to click on them though.0 -
As long as you don't go over your calorie goals.0

Peter Siddle, one of our Aussie cricket players eats 15-20 bananas a day, and he's a little fit pocket rocket.0

If I could afford it, I would love to eat 15+ bananas a day!0 -

Hehe Yeah, they are yummy. This guy is one one of those plant based vegan types0 -
Banana's are probably my favorite fruit.
I am having one for my snack tonight along with banana Greek yogurt (my new favorite flavor).
Have anything your heart desires if it fits into your total calories.0 -

Oh yes I remember reading that.
Not sure if he does it all the time or just when in training.
However he is 187 cm tall, about 6 ft 3 in, and is a young very athletic male.
Probably fair to say most people could not eat 15+ bananas a day and still have a calorie appropriate and nutritionally balanced diet.
Much as I like bananas, I don't think I've ever eaten more than 3 a day.
The thought of 15 - 20 per say is rather overwhelming

It is possible to be nutritionally balanced (within reasonable calories) eating 15+ bananas a day, but it does take some planning. I haven't been able to eat more than 8 so far...0 -
I'm sure it is nutritionally and calorifically possible for some people to eat that many a day and still get enough other macros and nutrients - but not on the daily allowances of most of us.
However I admit this is something I have no intention of trying to do so I will take your word for it.
Happy to hear back from anybody who eats 15+ bananas a day but will give it a miss myself.0 -

I'll let you know when I have mastered the consumption of that many bananas0 -

I love banana... It's something sweet to eat without being full of added (((everything))). I like to freeze them and eat them.0

I have a friend who gave up all white flour and sugar products. Some days she'd eat 3 bananas if she was hungry. It works for her.0

Heh, I enjoy the occasional banana, but I suspect that would put me off bananas, so would be a sad experiment (my feeling about the egg fast thing too).0 -
NO! No bananas! Haven't you seen that pop-up add that says "never eat these things if you want to lose weight!" with a big picture of a banana?!?! It pops up on my feed all the time so I no longer eat bananas.
Sorry....that was just my sarcasm kicking in. I forgot it's not Friday.
Carry on0 -
Bananas are not magical weight loss foods. Adding them, or eliminating them from your diet won't cause or stop weight loss.
I eat foods I like in MEASURED portions to lose weight. Are bananas good food? Yes, they have lots of fiber, carbs for quick energy, vitamins, and a little fat.
Many other foods would qualify too. I eat an apple most days, because eating an apple gives me the same nutrients (as above)....no fat though. But an apple takes me much longer to eat than a banana, plus I like crunchy.
Eat foods you like, measure portions. Try to meet protein goals. Fiber is good for feeling full.0 -

Well slap me silly! I've always thought he was a little short *kitten*, he looks so little on TV!0 -

How much are bananas where you live?

In general, getting all your calories from nutrient dense foods while in a caloric deficit is a good idea. I believe most people would consider bananas to be pretty nutrient dense.0
