Man I hope it's OK if I join now! I just found out there were challenge groups on here! Here's my info if it is not too late! Thanks!
CW: 182
GW: 160
NSV: Just started 30-Day Shred last night so my goal is to not miss a day! It will be the longest period of exercise I have ever done!
I've been trying to drink more water anyway so this week's challenge is perfect for me!

Another 55 minutes of running and walking today. 110 degrees had me switch to a power walk halfway through. still kept it at a fast pace for the last 25 minutes after running at 6.0mph go 30 minutes. Walked with a 160z waterbottle in each hand to add some weight to the workout. By the end of the hour, I was fighting the urge to drop my hands and let the bottle just swing. Made it through. Must keep up the challenge. Also 12 cups of water for the day.

Can I just say YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I have a really good friend whose a runner and in Afghanistan right now. The heat is taking a toll on his runs and he hates it! I just wanted to take the time to say "thanks"0 -
I am not amazing.
I have a runners body already. I am trying to offset 17 years of slow weight gain to get back to my wedding day weight. What is hurting me is that I have a low % of body fat at the moment, so trying to burn those remaining 11lbs is going to be pretty difficult for me. I may be asking for the groups support if I flatten progress in a few weeks. The first few pounds may only be water weight. I potentially could be cutting a little muscle weight to meet this goal so I may have to adjust the goal upwards as we go forward depending on how the weight loss affects my work.
The challenge members who don't have a regluarly active lifestyle and who are still getting out there and doing their exercises and challenge committments and meeting their caloric levels are the ones who are amazing me.
Thier progress during this challenge will be the noteworthy ones and they should be applauded for much louder.

I've done good with the water so far and added weights Monday, but not yesterday. Does anyone else feel like they get more thirsty when they drink more water? I kept waking up last night feeling so parched! Oh well, I know its good for me.
So I think my body is trying to tell me to stop running. My knees are really acting up, lots of popping and random pains while walking down stairs, etc which I know is a red flag. I also barely could force myself through 30 minutes last night and I usually go at least 40. I think I really only ran about 15 and walked the rest. So I will listen to what my body is saying, but here's my delima-I don't have a gym membership, I don't own a bike, and I can only get to the lap time at the pool on weekends so what am I going to do for cardio?! I'm moving to a new place in 3 wks that has a gym in the apartment complex with elipticals but in the meantime I just don't know what to do! Will switching to walking be enough exercise? It seems like lowering the intensity of my cardio would not be good, anyone know about this? Or is it enough just to keep with the old calories in/calories out?
Ellen - someone else recommended getting new running shoes. I highly recommend going to Boulder Running Company to get fitted by running on a treadmill and analyzing your gait. if you haven't done that before, it's a must do for every runner. I hear fleet feet does fittings too, but I have no personal experience there.
re: cardio options - if you have netflix, they have streaming workout options. My sister-in-law put me on to these a while back and it's awesome for getting some variety without having to buy DVDs. They selection used to be better, they got rid of all the JM ones and some others, but there's still lots of good stuff on there. Anything will Ellen Barrett (crunch and self) has good lower impact pilates inspired workouts which are much easier on the knees. Good luck!0 -
I am starting today with the 30 day shred and as my goal is to make sure to do that everyday and to incorporate other workouts at least 3-5 times a week. I am also following a diet that is trying to keep me at 1200 calories or less a day.

I am struggling today with the water intake. Ugh! But there's still time. I will push myself. I do find that I am wanting more to drink with this increased amount of water. I also seem to sweat more during my work out. Anyone else notice this?0
-
I ran out of time yesterday with my water intake, but I managed 8 cups! Today I've already had 4 cups and am bringing water bottles with me tonight at work. I'm also going to wear my ankle weights while I'm at work tonight in case I can't fit a workout into my schedule when I get off of work because I have a bio lab final tomorrow I need to study for.0
-
Felt like I needed to put in an update, I have not ran at all this week, however did do the stationary bike last night as well as upper body weights. Easily getting the water intake. How is everyone doing out there!
Good Luck!0 -
Is it too late for me to join this challenge?0
-
Just found this. My weight on Monday was 219.0
-
If it is not too late I am 191.2 today and want to be about 150 by 9/50
-
Although, I am two days late I will start the challenge TODAY!!! I am hoping that since I have this app downloaded to my Blackberry, that it will be easier to stick to this challenge. Cutting calories (1230 a day) and sweating it out on the treadmill (5x's a week).

Just got back from doing my errands..so I will be doing D11L2 of 30 DAy Shred soon!I am on glass6 of 10 of my water intake.I will be posting later tonight!0
-
Wow, I can't believe how many people have joined this challenge! This might be our biggest start up yet! Stick with us, you won't find a better group...this is my 4th (I think) challenge with several of you and we keep getting new friends along the way, love it!!!!!!
Today I am chugging back the water...one of my NSVs was to get in 10 glasses anyways...sometimes I struggle with 8 but water is magical so all the more reason to do it!
Have been doing weights for the challenge as well, doing the 30 Day Shred every other day and cardio the rest...I love the shred, it is sooo good for strength training. I've had the dvd for 2 years and haven't even got all the way through it but I will, I will, I will! Doing it everyday burns me out I've found but changing it up with other workouts is the way to go for me!
Glad everyone is getting off to a great start! :flowerforyou:0 -
Whew, all this water is making me spend my workout time running to the bathroom... LOL. I feel like if I put on my ankle weights it would count as exercise! :-) For real though, just by getting my water up for the past 2 days I feel alot better and less hungry. Getting ready to do Day 2 on level 2 of the 30DS. Hope everyone has a great day!0
-
not doing great today guys. i have the worst toothache and it is getting pulled tomorrow. at 3:00pm i was finally able to eat a salad but still fill yucky and light headed whenever i stand up. on glass 4 of water but even drinking hurts. ugh0

Sorry you're not doing so great today, but hope that it gets better. Hopefully after it gets pulled you'll be feeling a WHOLE lot better!
Also, looks like we're looking for pretty similar goals...I'm trying to get to 132 by the end of the challenge...it's pushing it though, I haven't been at that weight since middle school.
Also, struggling with exercise because I have an ankle injury I have to nurture at least about 2 months, hopefully after that it'll get better. Thanks everyone on here for the support...doing good on drinking water, and as for weights, I do "baby-wearing" when I go walking, so it adds 17 pounds0 -
Is it too late to start?0
-
well the weights have been easier for me than that water. I like strength training so thats no biggie for me, but I went from drinking one or two glasses of water the first day to 10 the second day! im at 4 today and I know I'll drink 4 more working out so i should reach the goal today
weights 2/7 so far
water 1/7 so far
i really need to motivate myself tonight tho cuz i waitressed 7am-4pm and am exhausted. im giving myself an hour to recuperate then ill workout.0 -
If its not too late to start this challenge, Im up for it!
My weight on Mondays weigh in was 244.

I sweat a TON more during my work out I drink tons of water a day (seriously between 10 and 20 cups a day). But sweating is a good thing. It helps filter the sodium out of your system.
I'm only had 8 so far today, but its only 2pm and I have not done my workout yet today :bigsmile:0 -

was today your first day of L2? If so, your body will get used to the work out.. eventually... ha.. but L2 is my favorite, I feel it the most during the workout. L3 will step it up a bit more, but to me (and maybe I'm a freak) its more doable than some parts of L2. Good Luck and you can do it! Just stick with it!0 -
Doing great with the water this week. I'm up to 18 glasses for today. I've noticed with the warmer weather I drink a LOT more. It wasn't always easy for me to drink this much water so anyone out there having problems chugging that much, it just takes time until it becomes habit. I so crave it now!! I just worked out on the elliptical and that machine dehydrates me. I'm doing my strength training on the total gym later. Great job everyone so far this week:) Happy hump day!0

thats where I think I'm a freak.. I don't think L3 is much harder than level 2. YES it exercises different parts of your body than L2, YES I think some of the exercises are tougher, but I can get through L3 easier than I can L2 (circuit 3 of L2 KILLS me.. I seriously feel like I'm going to die doing the strength portion of it.).0 -
