I ran a 5k yesterday with no walking breaks. I did run very slowly at first (there with a friend who was walking at a 14 or 15 min mile pace) but then picked it up and ran the second half at about a 10 min mile pace. A first for me! I'm hoping that the next one I do (whenever that is) I can complete the whole distance at a faster pace.2

At airline check-in counter, rep saw my old pic on passport and asked how much weight I've lost and how long it took, then upgraded me to first class as a congratulation gift.20

Took a Zumba class today, which I've only done a few times and not recently, mostly because of scheduling--it's not part of my regular workout schedule but it's the kind of thing I throw in when I want to do something on an off-day or I can't do what I had planned for some reason.
In the past I've always felt like if I could just manage to move in the same direction as the instructor most of the time, that was all I could hope for in dropping in on a strange class--forget about getting the steps right! But today, I guess because I've been taking ballet and jazz classes off-and-on over the last couple of years, I found it so easy to pick up on the steps and execute them! It's like my kinesthetic memory and "sight-reading" skills have improved, which is a really cool thing to happen in your 50s.
Plus, during the cool down, there were a lot of movements that essentially were very high-rep body-weight arm exercises (overhead triceps extensions and various shoulder-height bicep, lat, and delt movements), which I know in the past would have had my muscles burning and screaming, and even the instructor dropped her arms a couple of times to rest them, but I guess doing a "heavy" lifting program (New Rules of Lifting for Women) has had an effect on endurance as well as strength, because I could keep up the reps the whole time.
The cool down also had a number of stretching movements that were similar to yoga postures, and I found I was able to do them easily, which, despite having practiced yoga off-and-on since I was an adolescent, I wouldn't have found easy at my top weight.
It's neat to see improvements made in one type of fitness pursuit carry over to another. It made me happy to see differences in so many areas compared to where I was a couple of years ago.5 -

I'm so happy for you!!! Great job!!! This is a goal of mine, to wear it for the first time in five years. It will happen just like you!1 -
These are small not and may not count? But
-today for Easter dinner, there was no scale available to me to weigh my food, but my mother made sure to have grilled chicken and green beans available for me to eat. I am proud to say I served myself reasonable portions on a salad plate!
- I skipped the lasagne to conserve calories and only had a moderate piece of cake and one helping of ice cream for dessert.
- This was after eating only two very light meals all day leading up to dinner so I could treat myself to that cake and ice cream. After purposefully overshooting calories, I still had enough left for a snack and had a small chunk of cheddar cheese.
I am just so excited every time I show myself how my lifestyle changes are sticking!6 -

For the first time ever my driver's license has my accurate weight on it. Bam!!!!4

Oh my gosh I wore a pretty size 12 Easter dress to church. I have not worn that size in years. Everybody told me how pretty i looked. A lady ask me how im losing weight. I said simply counting calories and working out 4 times a week.1

I try on clothes from my closet every week to try and monitor my progress. I tried on my favorite pair of skinny jeans, and the difference from last week to this week was staggering! My skinny jeans are officially no longer skinny jeans, more like boyfriend cut.,,can pull them up & down without unbuttoning.
They're size 16; I'm trying to hold out and not purchase new jeans until I'm at least able to get in a 12 in the same brand/fit...so had to put on a belt that I bought awhile back and could never use because it wouldn't fasten. Tried on the belt yesterday and it fit!
I think it's time to go try on jeans at the mall, and see where I am.2 -
I went rummaging in the closet for new "goal jeans", since I can now fit into the two pairs I set aside for that purpose. I did find a couple more pairs to aim for, but I also discovered four more pairs that I can wear now and had forgotten about! No need to go and spend money yet!
Also, I'm sure some of the ladies can relate to how expensive plus-sized bras can be. I needed more and was reluctant to go and buy some, but I found a few buried in my closet that will keep me going. My wallet is happy!2 -
Water intake. I hate it, hate it but this last two weeks I've been chugging back my 2litres! Does that count as an NSV?4

This is so inspiring
I don't think I'll ever be in 4's, I think 6 is the lowest I'll ever go with being 5'9" and with my goal weight, but the idea in itself of that transformation is amazing. And who knows, maybe I'm wrong. Can I ask how tall you are?
5'3
I think sizes have really changed over the years. Even in my twenties at 115 and below, I never wore a six. And of course it's how they are cut too. These are straight compared to others that are more fitted. I'm just happy to finally wear clothes that look better on me again!!

Absolutely! Well done for sticking with it!1 -
My boyfriend and I live 2,500 miles away from our family and normally for holidays, I will prepare a giant feast for the two of us. Yesterday, we decided to not cook a single thing for Easter. Instead we chose to hike the cliffs in Half Moon Bay, which is something we've both been itching to do since we've moved to California. Such a great feeling!

I agree, in college I was a size 10 weighing about 130. Now, I am in a 12 weighing 167. Sizing has definitely changed.1 -
My NSV is that I have made a handful of good friends in a mfp group, and they help me get back on track every time I run into a trouble spot. With their motivation, I will one day reach my goals.3

I am always so stoked when I see pictures of where I am now. It's easy to not feel like things have changed but the photos don't lie.0

I no longer just wear black to work2

I realized when I looked in a full-length mirror just now how far I've come. I used to look at myself and be ashamed, so ashamed, at how big I was. Just now, I looked and saw a person that looks like a normal weight, and realized that, though I don't like the ravages massive weight gain and loss has done to my body, I am not ashamed any longer.7

Great reward! That part of California Coast line is so beautiful!

Apparently this phenomenon is called vanity sizing
Edit: There's also this post that has a different take on it.0 -
