Why the rush? That's next to impossible to do.0
-
Uh...yeah. Good luck with that.0
-
Sorry just realized I posted wrong number! Meant to post 20.. Lol! Going on a cruise!0

A slower loss would be much healthier and sustainable.
Even 20 pounds in 30 days isn't realistic.0 -
Still not a healthy goal.0
-
20 pounds still isn't a good idea. 8 is about the most you should aim for, and that's only if you have a lot to lose. What are your stats?0
-
So you want to loose 20 pounds cos you are going on a cruise? I always avoided cruises cos everybody who went told me " all you do is eat, all the time" (!!) ?? Is it true? I can't say cos i've never been ! Good luck anyway hope you succeed!0

A calorie is 3500 calories. To burn one a day, you would need to be at a deficit of 3500 calories every day. Most people don't get that regularly, so you would have to add a lot of exercise to raise it so you earned 3500 in a day. And then you would have to not eat. That is the math of it.0

Factoring in the initial big water whoosh you get when starting a diet, I suggest starting out somewhere in the 300-400 pound range.0

4-8 lbs is a realistic goal for 1 month.
Put your height, weight, age and activity level in MFP. Select a weight loss goal. Eat the calories you are told to eat. Log as accurately as you can. A food scale is helpful for accuracy.0 -
Why do you NEED to lose 20lb to go on the cruise? Are you afraid the boat will sink?

Still not realistic unless you're huge to begin with, as people above have said.
Why the big rush, just for a holiday - are you going to be completely miserable and hate your cruise if you don't lose the weight? Why would you even book it if you weren't going to enjoy it, in that case?
If you're worried about having a "bikini body" for the trip, then you should read this (which was linked to in a similar thread where someone was panicking over losing weight for a holiday):

Me thinks you should have began in January Be good to yourself!! The only way you'd lose that type of weight that fast is by torturing yourself, starving, depriving yourself, so why bother? Even then, if you did accomplish this, it would all pile back on the first two days on your cruise, as soon as you eat and drink again!!0

30 lbs in a month? Aint happening.0
-
Unrealistic goals set you up for disappointment. Focus on exercise and eating well and you will lose 4-8 pounds before your cruise.0
-
I have about 20-25 to lose and anticipate it will take me about 4-5 months to do so. One month would be wonderful, but as everyone said, is unrealistic. Sorry.Probably not gonna happen. You didn't gain the weight overnight and you aren't going to lose it overnight.
Also, this^^0 -
Probably be easier to build a wayback machine. I've been on a couple of cruises and most of the people are really big. And there is loads of all you can eat food.

I started Jan 27th 100% strict lost 12.lbs
I lost 20lbs in a month in stupid meal replacements that made my hair fall out memory bad cranky bad breath & I regained double
Tbh you need a life style change as said it didn't come on over night 1lbs a week is the usual goal
If you had an event then early planning a best
Tbh if you lost 20lbs I bet after the cruise you'd be 20lbs heavier plus 100 -
This is an April Fool joke isn't it? lol0

Cut an arm or go back in time and start 5 months ago?I started Jan 27th 100% strict lost 12.lbs

Seriously. You'd be depriving so much to get there, you'd probably gain it all back in a week.0 -

I understand, but I'm afraid you're being unrealistic. And if you go all out to lose as much as possible before your trip, you're likely to make yourself ill and unable to truly enjoy it.
Why not concentrate on trying to eat a bit less, exercise a bit more, and work on liking what you see in the mirror a bit better? I know it can be tough, but I think you'll be much happier if you can get to a better place mentally than if you focus on losing a lot of weight by a certain date.
Don't be miserable if you don't achieve what you want, be happy for any small improvements you can make in the next month. Good luck!
ETA: I would advise reading the article I linked to in my previous post - it's not what you think, and might help you to adjust your thinking.0 -

Go naked, that might save you 2-3lbs! You could also consider removing a relatively small body part?0 -

Toes maybe? Kinda difficult for flip flops but I can just bury my feet in the sand. Maybe my nose, sea water isn't the best smelling anyway0 -

I've never fully understood the "its unhealthy" mantra. Maybe you can explain it to me?
3500 calories in a pound.
Someone could technically eat 2,500 calories per day, and then through BMR and lots of exercise, burn 6,000 calories per day. That would result in a 3500 deficit per day - Which is 1 pound.
Maybe i'm missing something?0
