Protein bar suggestions?

Any recommendations for a good protein protein bar? Not just taste-wise, but in terms of nutritional value as well. I've heard good things about Quest and Vega Sport... thoughts?

I don't plan on using them as a regular meal replacement, but sometimes it's hard to get a solid meal/snack in after a long hard workout.

I'm addicted to Clif bars. The regular variety have around 10g of protein, and the Builder's have 20g. They always seem to be on sale around here - $10/10.

I liked Curate's bars, around $2 though they weren't very high in protein.

I just started trying quest to up my protein and some are TERRIBLE but some are actually pretty good. The cookie dough and mint chocolate chunk are literally the only ones I will eat, but I will eat and enjoy them. And they have 21 and 20g protein respectively and 15g of fiber. And the fiber is what I really wanted.

FitCrunch bars are my go to. 16 grams of protein for like 190 calories. I like some of the qwest bars but they changed something and are not as good as they were before.

I have to admit, those look pretty good. Clif Builder's have the same amount of protein and a slightly better micronutrient profile, but at the cost of 90 additional calories compared to FitCrunch.

love some flavors of quest bars. i usually buy 'em for about $2 to $2.20 per bar in boxes of 12. recommend the chocolate chip cookie dough, but the cookies and cream travels a bit better if they're going to be in a warmish place for a while.

I actually like the Pure Protein bars. 20g of Protein for 210 or less calories per bar. The caramel peanut tastes like a candy bar and is my FAVORITE :D

I've tried several Quest bars and thought they were simply awful

Not sure why you are spending $3 a bar. Order directly from QuestNutrition.com and get a box of 12 for $24.99 which makes them $2.09 a bar.

I eat Quest bars and love them. I have Celics disease and every brand that claims to be Gutem free that I've tried still causes stomach issues. Quest bars have never been an issue so I stick with them even though I pay a little more.

I am a big fan of Quest Bars myself. They have reformulated the recipe and they are better than the original. I am drawn to the macros and ratios. Low in sugar, too! A tad on the pricey end tho.

I think Quest bars taste like chalk...and they're heavy, feel like a brick inside my stomach... I NEED some sort of liquid to choke it down! Pure Protein is the cheapest and best as far as macros go. I do not want a bar higher than 200 cals and the highest one in the Pure Protein multipack is 200 (the other 2 are 190 and 180) and they have 20g to 21g of protein. That is way better than most I've seen (and believe me I've looked!!) and they taste like candy bars!

Pure Protein = 20 - 21g of Protein for about the same calories... there's range from 180 - 200 cals

To me, those Pure Protein bars had a bad aftertaste to them.

Oh yeah victory bars!!!!!! - 200 cals - 21 grams protein - nothing artificial and 8 grams of sugar, I cannot find another protein bar that competes with this, it is a winner.

Whatever you buy, keep an eye on the sugar content. Some "nutrition" bars have a lot. A chocolate Clif bar has 23 grams - nearly 6 teaspoons (about 4g/tsp). Pure and Quest bars are low in sugar. So are PowerCrunch - I like their caramel. I'm not a fan of the Atkins diet, but since its mantra is low-carb, its bars are low sugar. Their chocolate caramel nut roll isn't bad.

And since I usually only eat one when I'm in a time crunch before a workout or right after, I prefer it have some sugar... The more the merrier is my mantra.

I have no reason to worry about sugar, I'm not diabetic... sugar doesn't make you gain weight, eatingtoo many calories does...

the American Heart Association recommends 6 teaspoons of sugar (100 calories) per day for women
9 teaspoons of sugar (150 calories) per day for men. Refined sugar is okay when you don't over do it.
