    Hello everyone and Welcome Newbies!
I have been on vacation and have gotten behind on my posting. I see so many new names and great results. Its so wonderful to the scale coming down for so many. I did eat off my plan while on vacation and put 2 pounds back on, but now I must get back to losing. Today's tip will resonate with most of you and certainly for me. Sometimes we get lost in day to day living that we forget the simplest of things. Please check out today's tip and I hope to catch up on all the post soon. Have a great weekend.

No matter what kind of diet or eating plan you’re on, or how motivated you might be to pull on your skinny jeans without having to hold your breath, there’s one key diet ingredient you might have forgotten to include.

Too often we go on diets under mental duress. In other words, we’re beating ourselves up mentally whenever we step on the scale and/or reach for that stalk of celery. The old-school thinking is that if we’re hard on ourselves, we’re more likely to make positive change. But they key word here is “positive.” So how can any good change come from bad feelings?

The better we feel about ourselves (and even our appearance) in the present moment, the more likely we’ll be to find success with any life change we want to incorporate. This is as true for losing weight and getting into better shape as it is for getting that college degree, building better relationships or even becoming more organized at home or at the office.

I know it sounds like simple math. But that’s because it is.

Absolutely! Kelly McGonigal's book The Willpower Instinct talks about this. She says that it is a quick path to the "What the *heck*, I might as well indulge some more".

Logging in a little late. I've been logging into MFP on my phone. This is too much to do on the phone.

Last week: 3 days away at a dog show was tough to keep my exercise and diet goals. Although I surpassed my daily step goals (12,000 steps over goal), I didn't exercise those 3 days and I logged 1200 calories over goal per day for those 3 days. Pleasantly surprised I didn't gain! Still, I managed 6:15 which is up from the previous week. Liking that trend.

Plan for this week: I lowered my exercise goals for this week to 8 hours and 56,000 steps. I need to relearn the discipline it takes to hit those higher goals and turn it into a habit.

    Starting weight: 152 lbs
Goal weight: 142 lbs (for this 12 week challenge)

    4/04/16: 152
    4/11/16: 150.6

Wonderful tip, Izzy! That truly does resonate with me, as I have had to learn to stop "punishing" myself, and be kinder and more tolerant of my own missteps. Taking a gentler approach and remaining steadfast with my goal has brought me results, 12 weeks on and going for another 12! Thank you for that reminder ;)

First post .... 12 week challenge

My weight about 3-4 years ago was around 140 (and I thought that was too high for me) ... however in the last 3 years it's like my weight has creeped about 10lbs per year so now I'm at 174 .... My health is the real wake up call as I have noticed less energy and more aches and pains.... so now on the portion control and increasing weekly activities. So I started about 2 weeks ago and am down about 3 lbs so far. I'd like to be down 15 lbs by July but my end goal is 138lbs .... Looking for the motivation and support to stay the course and get this done.
