Y am I not losing weight?

Ok so my MFP is set for 1,200 calories and losing 2 lbs a week, it's been about 2 weeks for me and I havnt lost at all. I walk 5 miles or more a day and burn about average 516 or more calories from the walk. Then most of the time the extra remaining calories ur supposed 2 eat I usually leave 200 or 400 left. Cuz I'm just not hungry. So y have I not lost anything?

I'm eating 200 or 400 less then what the remaining is telling me 2 eat. I was told 2 eat 50% to 75% what u burn. Is that wrong? Y does it say remaining if ur not supposed 2 consume it?1

Are you weighing your foods? if not, you're eating more than you think. I had this issue with pre-packaged stuff. Trusting the label and not weighing everything. My 255 gram pizza was actually 400 something grams, making the cal count 900 something instead of 520 like the label said.
I also walk 5-7 miles a day and use my Fitbit to calculate calories burned and TDEE.4 -
I don't have a scale but I use the barcode and do the math that way. I use measuring cups and sponsors Cuz I don't have a scale0

If you are not weighing out your food then you are almost certainly eating more than you think.
Also, it's been two weeks. Be patient.

Weigh EVERYTHING on a food scale! Don't trust the labels/barcodes.10

I make more home made stuff from recipes and what they serve and the measuring of the ingredients it says 2 use.0

are you literally eating less than 1200 calories or are you talking about 1200 calories plus eating some of your exercise calories back?
btw, how tall are you and do you weigh EVERY single piece of food accurately and log it choosing accurate database entries?2 -
Are you over estimating exercise and underestimating food? Unless you have a medical problem, if you eat less than you use you will lose weight. It is that easy.1

The calories plus what it says 2 eat from exercising, but I don't eat it all. I leave 200 to 400 left every time, sometimes more. I don't have a scale I use the bar codes and measuring spoons and stuff. I am 5ft 4 in Age 280 -
Yeah, sorry but unless you're weighing you really have no idea how much you're eating and that's the problem. Measuring cups are not accurate.15

Weighing food really helps but so does eating the right amount. If you are supposed to eat 1200 Kcal a day then you need to eat at least that much. Never mind about the extra calories your exercise gives you. Also, watch the amount of salt you take in as it can cause you to retain water which adds pounds.2

You're not "screwed" it's just a lot more difficult to accurately count your calories without one. You can buy digital scales from Wal-Mart and Amazon for $10-20. I got mine for $15 I think.
Been using mine for over a year. It's a great investment and makes calorie counting and weight loss a lot less frustrating. Eyeballing and measuring pastas, cereals, cheeses and meats are almost impossible for me without a scale.

In the meantime, try moving more and eating less. Perhaps under fill the cups/spoons you use and try to walk/run/swim/lift more and reevaluate after a couple of weeks.
The good thing is you haven't gained any weight since you started tracking, which means you've probably been eating at maintenance. It's still early in your journey though, so give it a couple more weeks, and a digital scale will DEFINITELY make it easier and more accurate.9 -

that's pretty much exactly right. eyeballing portion sizes doesn't work for almost anyone. you'll see thousands of threads in the boards here - literally - from people who tried and failed to lose weight without weighing their food and logging it.
you can get the Ozeri Pronto Digital Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale from amazon for $11 and change. i've dealt with ozeri, and they have excellent customer support.5 -
I had the same problem until I read that if you eat too FEW calories for you body your body thinks you are starving and conserves - burns muscle instead of fat even. I had my calorie goal set at 1200 - tried bumping it up to 1400 (even though that seems counterproductive) - upped my cardio exercise 30 minutes per day - tried to get as close as possible to eating 1400 calories (I eat extremely healthy so its hard for me to eat so much sometimes) and... like magic I started losing .04 to .05 ounces per day!2

Nope. Starvation mode doesn't exist. If it did, no one would starve to death.30 -

You are likely not eating enough. Your body wants to hang on to what you got. I eat 1500 as a base amount. That is the amount to maintain the blood bone and lean tissue in my body. Then I add for my exercise. Sometimes I stop loosing. I only have 15 to 20 lbs to lose. I am at a plateau myself. Don't do it to lose. Do it to have some fun. Set little goals and don't quit. It takes a long time and being consistent. Good Luck. Don't eat carbs. Try a majority of your calories as fat and protein.2

Not only do you need to use a food scale for accuracy but you need to make sure that you are using accurate entries from the database. Many of them are user entered and may be incorrect or outdated. If you look in the helpful posts announcement at the top of this forum, you will find a link for the thread about logging accurately.7

Eating carbs will not hinder ones weight loss. Unless you're medically prohibited from consuming carbs in excess carbs are fine.14 -

You aren't supposed to eat the Exercised off calories back on!
You actually just doubled you're calorie intake by doing that!2
