Pizza for weight loss?

I was very busy at work today and only had time for a small snack. With little food in the house, I got the kids Domino's for dinner. Starving, I had two pieces and figured I'd make up for it the rest of the week. Well, after looking up the nutrition info, turns out two pieces of what I had is 470 calories and 50 carbs (I know calories are most important for weight loss, but trying to keep carbs under 100 as well), which fits just fine into my daily amounts. I hope everyone is right about what’s most important is CICO!

No reason why that would cause a problem - you ate 470 cals of food, that's not a crime.

Pizza is a land mine for me. I cannot stop with just two pieces and they upset my stomache so I no longer eat pizza at all but that is also because I am doing both low carb and gluetin free0

For me I won't make dietary changes to lose weight, that I don't plan on doing forever. Lifestyle changes; knowing what a "real" serving of pizza looks like (or ice cream, or chips).....will help me during maintenance.16 -
You might gain a pound of water weight but it will go away. It's completely CICO.3

About once per week I eat half a Papa Murphy's thin crust Hawaiian pizza at over 700 calories. I don't go over for the day, and I don't feel guilty at all. 26lbs down, no gains.19

I concur with this to a point. Despite being CICO determining weight loss, a pizza diet wouldn't be healthy. 2 pieces due to a rushed day?? Log it and move forward enjoying the taste.
Diets fail when people alter their life too much. Make small changes you feel comfortable with. When those become routine, make a few more changes.1 -
If it fits your golden. Your daily goal is 800? way to low!2

Sounds like you are not confident and trusting your calorie intake! Is that the problem?
I like pizza, and one time ate 1 slice short of a whole large PapaJohn Pizza. Then, looked up the calories which just the pizza alone was 1800+ calories. So what, It's not like I had to eat big the next day. You gotta to confident in your understanding.1 -
Pizza Hut medium thin crust chicken supreme 2 slices: 46g carbs, 12g fat, 380 cals. I would it majority of my carbs at dinner, so eat low carb foods during the day..0

It's definitely CICO. I have lost 42lbs just calorie counting. I pay no attention to carbs, fat, etc. (I probably should start). No worries op you'll be just fine.7

You can certainly have pizza and lose weight. Weight loss is all about calories, and even if you are thinking about nutrition, there's nothing inherently unhealthy about pizza. It's basically a tomato and cheese sandwich in a different form. Some may have a lot of grease and thus be higher in calories.10

I just peaked at your diary and I am seriously concerned, someone mentioned 800 calories but you didn't even have that for the day, another day was even lower, are you logging everything? You cannot sustain on that amount of calories. Please follow guidelines, they are there to keep you HEALTHY!!!15

Wow I also just checked out your diary. 570 calories for today, sub 500 other days with one day at 950. You are seriously undereating. Why is your daily goal 800? How can you get all the required nutrients at that level?6

I lost 25 kg in 8 months during 2015 ... and thus dropped to a weight I haven't seen since the early 2000s.
And I ate pizza relatively frequently. Sometimes I went with frozen pizzas ... other times I went with Domino Pizzas. And most of the time I ate the whole pizza in one sitting.
But it fit within my calorie limit, so it was all good.
BTW - I'll agree with the others ... if you are limiting yourself to 800 calories, that is way too low.6 -
Yeah 470 is going to kill your days intake if you are stupid enough to eat that little all the time and aim for 800 calories. . Eat more food, fuel your body in whatever foods you want to fit your macros and hit reasonable numbers,
Those medifast meals will not help you long term, they will not help you make a lifestyle change. Living off frozen/prefab meals you will gain the weight all back once you try to live a normal life.4 -
pizza seems like empty caliries to me0

Pizza "for" weight loss? Or Pizza as part of your lifestyle that involves weight loss.
Life happens.
Plan. and then life happens.
I aim to eat right (healthy, low crap) most of the time, and I know life will happen.
ps: maintaining 14+ years.5 -

It's carbs, fat, and protein...how is that empty? I wouldn't base my entire diet around pizza, but you have to put your diet as a whole into context.
I lost 40 Lbs and have maintained for over three years and I have pizza usually 2 or 3 times per month...it's just food...it's just carbs, fat, and protein.10 -
We usually order pizza from a local indie restaurant with no calorie information. I've actually taken a slice, broken it down into the different toppings and weighed it, so that I have a fairly accurate estimate. I refuse to give up pizza entirely, but it's a 'treat', once a month, maybe, not the staple that it used to be.1

I have pizza every week to two weeks. It's part of my regular diet I'm down over 40lbs since October. I just fit it in.3
-
I eat everything, there's nothing I've cut from my diet (other than just the sheer amount I used to eat of everything) and I'm down 87 lbs and maintaining. 470 calories is nothing!7
