Well @rose can you tell the MFP community a bit more about your self? Have you set your MFP account up to loose weight? How long have you been here on MFP and attempting to loose weight? How much or what is your weight goal you setup to loose weight? Are you exercising or planning to? If so how will you calculate your calorie burns?
Have you read the "stickies" at the beginning of the forums for guidance to loose weight and how to count calories such as buying a food scale, how to and why you need to weigh your food intake etc..? How to manage exercise calorie burns and eating back exercise calories?

lol, give people time to get their routine going. I will be of no help to you as I have been trying to lose 50 lbs for the past 15 years, it's is now up to 80 lbs. Recently diagnosed with lyme disease, but not giving up until I turn 70 or die whichever comes first. I lost 5 lbs last week and nothing this week...but mother's day and all. Some day I will find the right combo to get my body going again. The last time I lost weight was when i was 40, but I lived alone and didn't have to worry about cooking for anyone else. Chin up!0

HI Buddy,
If you really want to lose weight. First you need the below things
1) Patience
Most of them want to reduce weight fast, But this is not Good to health, You have to reduce gradually, not drastly. Put target 1 Kg max per Week.
2) sincere
you have to be sincere, You have to control your cravings, Need to take food as per your MFP calorie Goal.
3) Exercise
Do Walk, Run, any other work outs atleast 30 min/day
Finally Beware of calorie Intake.
We all support you, Definitly you will reach GOAL...

You are around 18 years old?
You just need to eat what your already enjoy eating, but less of it.
Here is how to begin:
Log all your food for 7 days that you eat now.
While you are logging your current food, please go buy a food scale and start weighing your food and log food within the calorie allotment MFP gave you to loose X pounds a week.
You do not have to exercise to loose weight if you choose not to. But it can help you and be a plus if you are more active or exercise during the process.
The key is to only eat the MFP calorie allotment no more or no less, but if you do exercise, you can eat back a portion of those exercise calories should you need to to create more energy balance.. in short, to keep you fully nourished while loosing weight.
It may take your body a couple of weeks to ahere to less food or changes in your activities, so do not panic if you do not loose right off the bat the first to two weeks in.
Please study the stickies that I posted. Get your self educated about food, how to loose weight, and how to count calories and why weighing food on this app is essential to your weight loss..
You can add me as a friend if you would like.. I would take you under my wing, should you need to help. I understand what it is like to not understand how this works.. I am quite a bit older and I had no clue what calories were two years ago! LOL

Motivation comes from within. You can be inspired by others actions, but when it all boils down to it, the motivation is within you.
One questions I always ask the people I support is why do you want to lose weight and be healthier? When you answer that, then ask yourself why again. Do this 3-4 times and you will get to the real reason why you want to lose weight. This should trigger an emotional reaction that will fire up the motivation within you, and compel you to get up and do what you need to do.
For example, Why did I want to lose weight? I wanted to lose 25-30 lbs. Why did I want to lose 25-30 lbs? I was pushing 200 lbs, when I weighed 165 in the Army 14 years ago. Why is that number important to me? I have a family history of diabetes and don't want my life to end prematurely? why is that important to me? I want to be around long enough to support my wife and children, as well as be able to play with my grandkids years down the road with no issues.
Do you see? It will be different for everyone, but when you get to the root of your reason why, this will fuel your need to do what it takes and keep doing the little things to help you achive the greater things.
My journey started 3 years ago. I am healthier now than I ever have been before, and have been at my target weight for the past 2.5 years. You can do it. Roxie had some great points. Learn what you can and keep pushing on. Good luck, and feel free to add me if you like.4 -
Definitely look in the Success Stories forum . Such a great motivator.
Don't get discouraged by fluctuations in your day to day weight caused by water. That's my best tip. Track your weight in an app like Libra and look at the downward trend, more so than the completely normal ups and downs.

I would first commend you for deciding to get healthier at 18. I waited much later, but I am doing it. You have to really be committed, dedicated, educated and motivated. Nobody can do this for you. You hold the power to do whatever you want to do. Be positive at all times and learn to praise yourself for every little thing you do that is good for you. Do not dwell on negative things. Keep going, no matter what and never give up.0

1. Learn to have patience. This process takes a while and it won't happen overnight.
2. Go buy yourself a food scale. They're pretty cheap at Target.
3. Look at one of the free calorie calculators to see how many calories you should eat every day to lose a reasonable amount of weight. I like the Scooby Calculator. It's free, and figures in your activity.
4. Then eat those calories every day. Weigh your food on that scale. Then log your calories. Every day. Don't undereat because you think it will be faster. You don't have to starve to lose weight. Just trust that calorie calculator. And be honest with the logging. If you're not, you only cheat yourself.0 -
Rose, you are already on the road to lose weight by setting up your account. Some great advice here! Especially being patient with yourself and realistic about your goals. Nothing describes weight loss better and "slow and steady."
The great thing about dieting is that it is as simple as eating fewer calories than your body uses and you will lose weight. This means you can eat anything you want as long as it fits within your daily allotment of calories. Work out, and you can eat back those calories (most people recommend only eating back half of your exercise calories). Eating nutritious foods are best for your body, so I find the nutrient reports very helpful.
I highly recommend what RoxieDawn said. Accurately logging what you eat is so important so you have a realistic view but don't worry about it so much -- you will learn with practice how to be more accurate. A food scale is a must.

Join a GYM near where you live or work or go to school... I would 100% recommend the YMCA!!
They have a lot of variety and I personally think that finding a friend to meet up with at the Y gives you incentive to get out of the house, gives you a little accountability that someone is expecting you, and you will find it can be a lot of fun.
For example, if you like dancing, try a Zumba class. It's hilarious and everyone is at their own level, their own person. It can be very empowering. OR try a yoga class, or BodyPump. Most gyms have a variation of these, I just personally find the Y the least intimidating gym, and if you need financial assistance, they can help you with that too. Classes just help you move - and they always show ways to modify to make them easier or more difficult depending on your fitness level.
Drink more water - even before a snack, a meal, if you're bored, drink a glass of water.
Try to be open to meeting new people which can be very hard, but you will find people who can totally relate to how you feel, regardless of how they appear. Just asking how to do this is a super first step in making yourself healthy and happy!

You can do this. Remember you can't succeed at something if you don't start. So listen to the previous posts. Remember if you fall one day, you can get back up the next. This is Your journey. It is up to you to Your part. People will give suggestions, but you have to apply it. People will give positive words, but you need to help yourself. You can do it! Stop doubting and get rid of negativity. Take it one step at a time. You CAN do it, if you want it bad enough.0

I disagree. Set unrealistic goals. By setting a goal that is just out of reach on unrealistic, you may find yourself pushing harder to attain that goal and achieve better results. Think about it, if you want to lose 95 lbs, set a goal to lose 125 lbs. The advantage to this is if you were to fall short, which is even possible with realistic goals, you would fall short on a larger goal. Would you rather fall short on a larger goal of wanting to lose 125 lbs and only losing 95lbs, or 65 lbs on a 95 lb goal? Just some food for thought.0
