    I'm 5'8" , at my heaviest 2 years ago at 211 lbs, size 16

    SW: 195 lbs, size 14
CW: 143 lbs, size 8 but are baggy so will probably need a size 6 soon

Already passed my original goal weight of 150 lbs and am continuing until I'm rid of the dreaded belly fat so I may get down to a size 4, or maybe even a 2.

Your waist is so tinny for that number on the scale and I guess that is the magic of Strength training,Way to go girl

    Lol. Thank you!
No magic here. Consistency + Patience=Success
A good lifting program, about 2,3 times a week, eating an average of 1900-2000 calories a day, decent protein, enjoying the heck out of life and these days doing pull-ups :)

Iam very confused about choosing good lifting program. Do you have any suggestions?!

Hope I can help out :)
You're only a beginner once: it's the most magical time ever and progress is insane especially if you are overweight. Because this time is so special it's wonderful if you can pick a true beginner programs that exploits the fact that your body is primed for amazing things.
There are only 2 requirements for a good program:
    1. Progressive overload built into the program - you lift 2.5 or 5 pounds more each workout.
    2. Includes the major compound lifts ( squat, deadlift, bench press, some type of overhead press)

There are other choices you will have to make depending on your training preference:
Strength based programs like Stronglifts 5x5, Wendler 5/3/1, Starting Strenght ( usually 2,3 workouts a week)
Bodybuilding based programs like Jim Stoppani's - Shortcut to Shred or other free beginner programs from bodybuilding.com ( usually 5,6 workouts a week)
Mixed programs with strength and bodybuilding components like "Strong Curves"
Some programs will be free and others will require the purchase of a book (might find them free at a library)

They will all work!!! Pick one and forget about anything else. Learn the exercises and do the program as outlined.
Eat to fuel your body and sleep so you can recover!
Enjoy a feeling like nothing else in this world and watch your body change before your eyes!!
    Best of luck!

I'm 5'5" and at 162 lbs I wore a size 12, and now at 125-130 lbs, I'm in a size 6. I have wide hip bones and have never been smaller than a 4, even when I was under 110 lbs. The 6's fit big in the waist, but fit fine on the hips. :) I'm definitely pear shaped!

Idk why but I have lost 55 lbs and my waist size has only gone down from 36 to 34. It was still enough to make my jeans fall down

I've tried like might to be 5'2, but I'm really barely 5'1...

SW 200, size 18 (but I sucked it up and wore a 16)
CW 168, size 12 or 14 (with a belt). It depends on that muffin top. I also have a pair of stretchy Wranglers in a 10.
GW 135, probably will be a 6/8, but maybe a 10 for comfort.

My highest was 14 last summer. Eek. Being small waisted naturally, my thighs looked so huge and disproportionate. Now I'm about a 10-11 which is more comfortable for me. Not really caring about going smaller, just toning up.

    SW: 178lbs
    CW: 160lbs
    GW: 155ish

Great job everyone! Seeing clothing sizes drop is just so much more satisfying than just weight on a scale in my opinion.

For me I've dropped from a size 42 at 260lbs to a 36 at 215lbs. My goal is to reach a 34 by my birthday in August.

I hear you on the pear-shape problem! I'm the same height, but started at 195lb and a UK size 18 jeans. Now 170lb and UK size 14 (US size 10) in jeans/trousers, but UK 12 (US size 8) on top. I'm only halfway to my goal of 145lb, and I've no clue what my bodyshape will be when I get there - I did suspect that the pear shape will follow me down, and it will definitely dictate where I stop, more than the scale number. I've seen other pear-shapes mentioning how skinny their upper half looks long before their bottom half does. So, my 147lb (10.5 stone) goal is only approximate, and will depend on whether my exercise makes a difference to how my thighs and hips look in relation to the rest of me!

Yes! I am definitely one of those girls who looks too skinny up top. I've been lifting weights and working on getting a stronger upper body so maybe (hopefully) I'll look more proportionate. Bonus would be if I could decrease the hip/saddlebag area :)

    171 = 14

    I tend to be a 12 around 155 and a 10 around 145.

Mine is going to sound very off because of my body proportions but here it is, haha.

    Height: 5'1
    SW:345ish and in a size, hell I think it was a 32 and a 4x in tops.
CW: 201 and a size 11 and Medium in tops.

    (ETA height)

I am still a size 16. Maybe my hips are huge bc I'm less weight than some of you and I can't fit into a 14. :( I know everyone is different. I'm just jealous lol.

    I'm 5'5 and cw is 175. Sw was 198.

I don't get it. I was 5"10 245-250 and was wearing 48s. Now I'm 175 and wearing 36-38. Just bought a bunch of 38s but after wearing a few days they are falling to about pube level. I don't get how someone at 215 is wearing same Jean size. Unless you're super tall

That is where I start scratching my head... I'm 5'2" and SW was 248, CW is 223...I'm still in the same size 24. MsSquatalot is an inch shorter, 21 lbs less and is in a size 11. When I lose another 21 lbs, I'm not going to be in an 11...just aint gonna happen. Last time I was in an 11, I was 115 lbs (that was 40 yrs ago)

Sw-160 before I was in a jean size 16,pushing it for a size 17,meaning I could wear a 17 but they were slightly looser on me. But now I wear a size 15 :) so I went down about a jean size or 2. I lost 10 pounds, then gained 6 but I think it could be from gaining muscle or something cuz my clothes are definitely looser on me

do you lift, though? someone who does that kind of body building stuff is going to have a heck of a lot more muscle than someone who doesn't.....muscle, being more dense than fat is going to take up less space and require smaller clothes. there will be quite a clothing size disparity between someone who regularly does heavy lifting and anyone else of the same or similar weight who doesn't

Now shifting my focus to add muscle tone vs pure weight loss.
