100 pounds to lose - Weekend get away ideas for loss reward?

I live in Oklahoma and have 100 pounds to lose. I have come to realize that because of my time limitations, knee and elbow injuries and my PCOS, the 100 pound loss journey will be a long one. To keep myself motivated, I want to reward myself with a weekend getaway after every 20 pounds. I am looking for weekend get away ideas in the US to plan for and get excited about. Instead of a carrot cake on a stick in front of me while I work out, I want a beautiful destination to dream about, how I will look good in pictures and how my husband will be proud to have me on his arm while we explore. I know it will be several months between these trips, maybe even a year or more, so give me some ideas so I can start the research and the budgeting.

I love horseback riding, fishing, camping, kayaking, rollerblading, hiking, shopping, swimming, waterfalls, wildlife, snorkling, jet skiing, and amusement parks. Go!1

What's your budget for both money and distance? Can you afford to fly?0
-
Yes, I can fly. Budget is flexible.0

Someone on my profile suggested Door County Wisconsin. It is looking pretty cool for a spring or summer destination. Thinking I will hit my fist 20 pounds this fall/winter.2

mackinac island! it's an island in michigan, small enough that no cars are allowed. you get around by horse (with a drawn wagon or just saddle-back) or by bike. it's got so much charm.
i have also been to door county, but this location is more unique.3 -
just saw you're into horses! so you should definitely look into mackinac island!0

Finger Lakes in New York, especially if you like wine.
The Laurel Highlands in Pennsylvania - Ohiopyle and the Frank Lloyd Wright designed homes. Camping, hiking, horses, and a house built over a waterfall! And, you're close to Pittsburgh, which is also a great weekend trip.1 -
Once warm weather hits- Cape Cod or Martha's Vineyard is great! Lots of opportunities to stay active (walking, hiking, swimming), but its beautiful, people are great and who doesn't like the beach?0

This sounds amazing! I am going to look into this one for sure!0 -

This sounds great, too! Thanks!0 -
There is a place off the coast of Florida called Little Palm Island. Look it up on line. It looks like Paradise. I've never been, but it looks amazing. Good luck on your journey. Feel free to add me.2

Oregon Coast. I bet you hubby is proud to have you on his arm already!1

My daughter and her husband enjoy cruising. On each cruise they have a photo taken in their finest attire and these photos form a montage of her weight loss journey. When I got below 240, I did a 5K. When I get below 220, I'll do another. That's how I celebrate.1

This is an excellent idea. I just dont know that I can afford to do that 5 times. While I will lose it slower than I like, I hope I lose if fast enough that I cant afford to take a cruise each time I lose 20 pounds. However, I could do that after the first 20 and then at the 100 mark. Never been on one, I have been wanting to.0 -

I will look at it. I have always wanted to visit Florida, but dont care for big cities and crowded beaches. We went to Vieques Island in Puerto Rico for out honeymoon, and most of the beaches we went to we were the only ones there.0 -

It's definitely not as warm as the Gulf, but the sights are amazing!1 -
Lake Placid, NY: A quaint little mountain town with lots of outdoorsy things to do. Stay at Mirror Lake Inn (the best one there) if you can afford to, but there are lots of great lake-front hotels. Go during the fall for the leaf peeping. It's my go to vacation and hiking destination. You will want to stay longer than a weekend, trust me.

Never been to New York, but I hear the right areas are beautiful. Fall is my favorite time of year, so sounds good!0

Consider Boise, Idaho! We are home to great fishing, hiking, skiing, horseback riding. We have some of the best whitewater in the WORLD, and there are some companies that will take guests with no experience and keep ten safe while they have so much fun!1

The San Juan Islands in Washington State are gorgeous. It's a short ferry ride from the Seattle area. Come late summer to early fall for the best weather. There's great hiking, camping, and kayaking plus quirky little shops in the towns on the islands.3

I don't know about snorkeling. Surfers etc wear wet suits most of the year. It's not the tropics!0 -
Cannon Beach Oregon is gorgeous, not a place to snorkel, surfing is good there though. You can also go horseback riding along the beach.
The San Juan islands Wa and Whistler BC are both close to me and would be wonderful for an outdoor adventure.
A cruise can be quite affordable as all meals are included. A 4 or 7 day Caribbean would make a great snorkelling holiday.
Or save the cruise for a 2 week grand finale!
I am going to throw in Vegas. I never thought I would like it, but a trip to Red Rocks and a hike in the desert were amazing. So was the Hoover dam.
(I loved the bling of the hotels and the night life too.)
Great idea for your rewards.
Start a money jar for your spending money, $xx for each pound lost.
Cheers, h.2 -
I love the idea of putting spending money in a jar for each pound lost to spend on the trips! Thanks!

I decided I wanted to be a cat for a bit. I went and laid on people's desks, knocked their stuff over and stood there meowing at them until they screamed at me "WTF are you doing???" I also chewed on a few plants. Cats are living the life. Glad I dont do drugs, pretty sure I will be "randomly" U/A'd shortly.1

Well that comment has me thoroughly confused!0

Olympic peninsula in Washington state, all kinds of landscapes from seaside, temperate rain forest, mountain, prairie all within a day's drive, and lots of camping availability for cheap travel.
Bryce Canyon in southern Utah is a gorgeous place to hike, and you could swing by Zion while you're out there.
Do you like caving? Mystery Cave in southeast Minnesota has three levels of tours, from wheel-chair accessible 30 minute tours to 9 hour caving tours that require you to slide through narrow spaces (they'll make you try it to make sure you fit before you leave)
Apostle Islands in northern WI/ south shore of Lake Superior have some great kayaking and caving options. Interesting ice caves in the winter if you can time your travel to the weather.2 -
I skimmed and saw someone say San Juan Island, it is indeed beautiful. I personally haven't gone out there much. I've never really been out of Seattle... only out of country... quite ironic. I think Japan is definitely worth a visit after the 100 lb. mark! It's a really nice country, I like Taiwan and South Korea too. Vietnam is a great spot for tourists if you like mopeds or Mario Kart. Definitely worth seeing for the variety of cultures.1

You can get amazing deals on cruises if you can go off-peak, so it's worth keeping an eye open.1
