You will never starve0 -
Just remember to take it one day at a time and allow yourself a little and reasonable treat. Never deny yourself if you want something, rather eat a small portion of what you are craving and then finish it off with a nice healthy snack. I eat chocolate when I want but I only eat enough to fulfill my craving. If I'm still hungry afterwards I snack on some baby carrots with a little bit of hummus or apple slices with a tbsp of almond butter. Eating healthy is not about deprivation..it's about balance. Good job and keep up the good work!!1

actually i think I disagree with the above - I deny myself (or at least, delay myself) regularly. I do it for health benefit, for a medical reason, for "because I'd rather do something else" or "no time right now" reasons, etc. If Never Deny Yourself works for you then great but you can't say it is categorically the only way everyone must do things. (Plus for me, if I want chocolate then "enough to fulfill my craving" is the whole bar ... or the whole box haha... I don't stop at 2 squares very well so for me, it's easier/better to just not have the chocolate right now. maybe for a long time to come. It works for me.)0 -

Obviously my advice was just a suggestion and I apologize if it came off as something other than that. Sometimes 2 squares is enough for me and sometimes I eat the whole bar as well!! Lol!! It's of course a personal choice and preference that works for me so I just thought I would share it. It's something I learned from a friend of mine who has lost over 60 lbs on MFP. But obviously whatever works best for you and your plan is what you should do1 -
Everyone has to figure out what works best for them
For some, moderation is the route to take. For others, especially if they have a weakness for a high-calorie item that doesn't fit into their goals in quantity, just not having those food items in the house for a while is the better route to go.
But where I find people run into trouble is when they begin to demonize food - "evil sugar" "nasty carbs" "horrible fats' "deadly 'processed' foods" etc. Labelling a food (or an entire food group) as bad puts the onus on the food having the power over you, which, if you stop and be honest about it, isn't the case. It's your current lack of control around that particular food item that is the issue and not the food itself.
And yes, take it one day at a time. If the day turns out to be not as stellar as you'd hoped, just log it and move on. Every single day gives you a brand new chance to be spectacular. Be kind to yourself.0 -
Yay... Congratulations for starting. As you move on in your weight loss journey you will learn what works for you and what doesn't. You will learn about your own body the further you get into it. For me allowing myself a special treat once a week has helped me out along the way. There will always be birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions along the way and you should be able to enjoy those special moments to the fullest. It's a part of life and we should be allowed to. I started March 1 and I'm down 30 lbs so it definitely works. Best of luck to you and remember one day at a time, Log everything, anything in moderation, never give up, and enjoy life along the way.0
